Which is compatible with GW's prior fluff on psykers, and on magic-users in Fantasy. The 'typical' psyker or wizard draws on the energies of the Warp or the Winds of Magic directly, but it's also possible to draw on the energies of entities within the Immaterium. The disciplines associated with the Chaos Gods are the clearest example of this, but it's also always been the explanation for powers that come from faith. The faith-based powers of the Sisters of Battle, therefore, probably have this justification - it's just that the Imperium doesn't seem to have as much understanding of the various forms of psychic abilities as the Colleges of Magic did in Fantasy, so unlike Fantasy, there's no human in the Imperium that truly understands how psychic abilities work (maybe Inquisitor Czevak if anyone does). That is the philosophy of the 40 k universe.. if you can make something bad, worse..than by the emperor make it, and if the horrific result can be made even more horrific, well same as the first, and so on and so on.

They’re hit and miss. Like why inv save. I’ve sat in front of 2 shadowswords takimg their fire for 2 rounds. Other times they’ve gone out to lasguns. Intensely funny. ;).
These sorts of units make me think the Tyranids could invent a lot of cool troops by working with Firaxis, these units remind me a bit of how the Gatekeepers in XCOM2 operate.

Most Tyranids are scary because they are so powerful in close combat, they are strong, but you can fight them, you can conventionally beat them. But these, these are the real nightmares.

I always believed that, like orc weird boyz, the nids pulled power from their collective consciousness, not the warp per say. Like the shadow in the warp, and having eaten enough psychicers, the nids have a conduit to the warp space that they effect. What would be really interesting is nids vs. Enslavers.
And yet their own bumph considers that issue regularly. It’s exactly what I thought for 8 years. Then.... I read closer. They need to sort out their writers and codices if this is actually the case. As we all think it is.

Firstly, wow, badass guardsman. Secondly, if you believe the theory that the Tyranids were created by the Old Ones that fled the Galaxy as revenge on the Necrons, then it is likely that their psyker power works the same as the Orks do. There is a similarity in the function and purpose of the two factions after all. Thirdly, I love how if you turn a Zoanthrope upside down and scoop out the soft head bits, you're left with a nice little fishing boat.

I half expected one of those tyranid zoanthropes to paralyze him moments before he could pull the pins on those grenades and force him to stay conscious while he saw the faces of his comrades, friends, family on the tyranids while they devoured him and rushed past him to finish his squad. Sandbags can depend on the realism. I know someone that uses fabric bags filled with rice. She stitched them as individual bags as well as sausage links and a brick/wall pattern with gaps in between so that she can change them around depending on the terrain. Not gonna lie, I hope you end up doing a 'hero week' where you go into detail regarding some of the great heroes of the Imperium: Logan Grimnar, Grand Master Azrael, Marneus Calgar, Kaldor Draigo, and of course....Dante. I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on Lord Dante of the Blood Angels, for according to imperial records, he is easily the oldest living loyalist space marine (possibly over 1500 years old). He's lived far longer and endured more than almost any other warrior, and his resolve is truly awe-inspiring. Recent novels also show his more vulnerable side, in that despite having the strength of an astartes, his body is old and is starting to fail him (with his only hope of salvation is to become a primaris marine...but it is believed by many the procedure will kill him). Logan Grimnar and Azrael also interest me greatly, and I hope you can get to them soon :)
Just because they don't seem to have access to the Warp as we know it, that doesn't mean that they don't have access to some far off galaxy's version... Imagine what the Warp equivalent would be in the Nids' home galaxy if it looks like it does here. A whole galaxy of voracious eating machines? *Shudders* And that might be the Shadow in the Warp, the tail end of the Tyranids' own Warp trying to devour ours...

So, the Imperium struggles to defend a single fortress, while the Tyranids are devouring the rest of the planet. Fighting Tyranids on the ground is insane. You have to beat them in space, destroy the psychic link and let them consume one another.
I always thought it would be better for these guys to be purely extragalactic; something that is not related to any race in this galaxy. Something that is the absolute apex of their entire galaxy, the only life-forms left. A byproduct of nothing but nature itself. I imagine a story where the remaining Ancient Ones found a territory in a new galaxy while fleeing, and upon arrival, they ended up being consumed. Maybe even just one Ancient One losing it’s life, leading to its genetics being used to form the Hivemind and all the power and capabilities it posses. Then, the newly adapted Tyranid, either consume the rest or most of Ancient Ones, leaving some to flee to the warp out of desperation. Their ancient race surviving only in the genetic code of a soulless monstrosity.
Regarding your question about tyranids accessing the warp: I haven't read this anywhere so it could be completely inaccurate, but I have a theory that tyranid psykers siphon filtered energy from the warp within the space affected by the Shadow in the Warp. Part of the shadow's purpose is to keep daemons from attacking tyranid forces, so I'm sure their psykers would reflect this.

I loved your introductory narrative. A steadfast imperial resistance, slowly losing hope of any sort of victory, and the grim resolve of a guardsman to slightly extend the lives of his comrades. Also, "brain balloons", absolutely brilliant term to make light of the truly alien psychic abominations.

Firstly, wow, badass guardsman. Secondly, if you believe the theory that the Tyranids were created by the Old Ones that fled the Galaxy as revenge on the Necrons, then it is likely that their psyker power works the same as the Orks do. There is a similarity in the function and purpose of the two factions after all. Thirdly, I love how if you turn a Zoanthrope upside down and scoop out the soft head bits, you're left with a nice little fishing boat.

They just need to sort out their metaphysics, give a copy of their rules to writers and then EDIT! Something they seem incompetent at doing. Utterly.
@@baldermort Perhaps it's nothing at all similar to what else exists, and the Warp is just used as the best familiar comparison. But that's really not supposed to be our job to decide. It would be nice if GW could be definitive about it and establish a baseline to unify things like this. Oh well....speaking of editing by the way, is it alright if I ask how Aspect Warriors/Phoenix Lords is going?

I half expected one of those tyranid zoanthropes to paralyze him moments before he could pull the pins on those grenades and force him to stay conscious while he saw the faces of his comrades, friends, family on the tyranids while they devoured him and rushed past him to finish his squad. The emperor's mercy that did not happen.

Any Hobbyists have tips for making Sandbags or Guard towers for Battlefields?
Sandbags can depend on the realism. I know someone that uses fabric bags filled with rice. She stitched them as individual bags as well as sausage links and a brick/wall pattern with gaps in between so that she can change them around depending on the terrain.

Not gonna lie, I hope you end up doing a 'hero week' where you go into detail regarding some of the great heroes of the Imperium: Logan Grimnar, Grand Master Azrael, Marneus Calgar, Kaldor Draigo, and of course....Dante. I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on Lord Dante of the Blood Angels, for according to imperial records, he is easily the oldest living loyalist space marine (possibly over 1500 years old). He's lived far longer and endured more than almost any other warrior, and his resolve is truly awe-inspiring. Recent novels also show his more vulnerable side, in that despite having the strength of an astartes, his body is old and is starting to fail him (with his only hope of salvation is to become a primaris marine...but it is believed by many the procedure will kill him). Logan Grimnar and Azrael also interest me greatly, and I hope you can get to them soon :)

Just because they don't seem to have access to the Warp as we know it, that doesn't mean that they don't have access to some far off galaxy's version...
Imagine what the Warp equivalent would be in the Nids' home galaxy if it looks like it does here. A whole galaxy of voracious eating machines? *Shudders* And that might be the Shadow in the Warp, the tail end of the Tyranids' own Warp trying to devour ours...

The amount of videos of yours I watched today was like a short audiobook.
The krieg video was one of the best tellings of this story I heard so far. After that I just kept watching.
So, the Imperium struggles to defend a single fortress, while the Tyranids are devouring the rest of the planet. Fighting Tyranids on the ground is insane. You have to beat them in space, destroy the psychic link and let them consume one another.

I always thought it would be better for these guys to be purely extragalactic; something that is not related to any race in this galaxy. Something that is the absolute apex of their entire galaxy, the only life-forms left. A byproduct of nothing but nature itself.
I imagine a story where the remaining Ancient Ones found a territory in a new galaxy while fleeing, and upon arrival, they ended up being consumed. Maybe even just one Ancient One losing it’s life, leading to its genetics being used to form the Hivemind and all the power and capabilities it posses.
Then, the newly adapted Tyranid, either consume the rest or most of Ancient Ones, leaving some to flee to the warp out of desperation. Their ancient race surviving only in the genetic code of a soulless monstrosity.
If only every one of his servants was so dutiful, and fearless! We would own the entire galaxy by now.

Regarding your question about tyranids accessing the warp: I haven't read this anywhere so it could be completely inaccurate, but I have a theory that tyranid psykers siphon filtered energy from the warp within the space affected by the Shadow in the Warp. Part of the shadow's purpose is to keep daemons from attacking tyranid forces, so I'm sure their psykers would reflect this.
On that day a Saint was born, not in name or power. But unknowingly, in the hearts of every man, woman, and child of the Imperium, an unknown Guardsman brought then that much closer to the God Emperor
