As far as I'm aware the pumper had already been released and the crew was in the process of making up when the second job came through. Point Cook pumper wouldn't have been responded if it was still involved in the initial job.

Point Cook pumper had been called to another job - they advised the MFB crew who released pressure from their hose so no damage would be caused when the pumper drove over it. I have found it's always best not to pass judgement on other peoples actions unless you are fully aware of all the details.

High pressure reels are more than adequate for aussie homes where fires are more likely to be confined to room of origin. Structural firefighting is different in the US mainly due to building construction and attack tactics.

The first attack line they get out is the live reel and then you see 38mm canvas for the exposures. Definitely some duraline in the street though, hard to tell but may have been 64mm boosting from the tanker.

Good question Casper. I actually work for CFA Public Affairs department so I have permission to be on the fireground.

@chechnya In Britain, our appliances are smaller than the US but mainly because if they were the size of US machines, they wouldn't fit through our streets- not because they're meant to fight smaller fire. We a lot more fires, per fire station, in the UK than the US.

@chechnya Mmmmm...thought it was the firefighters that put out fires... seems I was wrong.
It's not just the equiptment but how you use it.

up until when did the mfb primarily use scania's instead of the international accos?

  • @batmanmick

@k2svpete Using more and more duraline cause it doesn't need to be dried like canvas.

Great videos. However, your trucks seem weak. They look like European style fire apparatus meant to fight smaller structures. Australia looks very similar to the USA so you need some beefier apparatus :D
