Just when you think it's impossible to like him any more.
He knows he is a good actor, but he also knows that there are loads of other brilliant actors in Theaters and small Movies and TVShows all over the world that simply hadn’t had the luck to be discovered by Hollywood.
They're small because nobody watches them. Nobody watches them because they's nothing interesting about them. It has very little to do with luck. If after many years in the business an actor couldn't manage to get a decent role it means he's not a good actor.
@@ekklesiast ahhhhh no, there are plenty of 'good' actors out there, there's a difference between good and great...he is an amazing actor but there are alot of other factors that go into 'making it' in Hollywood and one of them is luck.
@@delretadonaldson No, that's a myth. Hard work and persistency makes luck irrelevant. It's simple math, if your chances are 1% then it takes 100 attempts to succeed.
In reality if you're a great actor your chances are much higher. Great actors are highly valuable because they're rare and hard to find.
@@ekklesiast So you say it's a myth..
First of all, are you a struggling actor?
Second, have you been busting your arse over 5 years in auditions?
@@delretadonaldson No I know would be bad at acting and not because of bad luck. Do you understand your point? You need to name those "loads of brilliant actors who hadn't had the luck to be discovered". You can't because they don't exist
love him. He’s not just a great actor but a very intelligent person as well.
His luck was our luck 🥂
perfect!
Brilliant!!
That was as sweet as false, but I love him all the same, for many reasons and because of the humility he is showing here
Accurate!
Exactly spot on.
Luck will provide you with an opportunity to be breathtaking. You need the skill to take that chance when it arrives.
An opportunity is a matter of persistency, not luck. One or two failed auditions can be attributed to bad luck. One hundred means you're a bad actor. Luck has very little to do with that.
“The harder I work, the luckier I get” Mark Twain and others. He’s a genius at his craft but getting to demonstrate that genius isn’t available to most, just the lucky few. What he did with that opportunity kept him working.
What a beautiful person . Accomplished so much yet he remains so humble . A lesson for us all ❤
Michael Caine looked surprised, high praise in and of itself
I think he felt the same
He knows the same.
He’s an amazing actor 👏🏽
Not enough good movies
Well said.
Humble speech - gefällt mir 👌🏼
He's fluent in English. How many American and English actors could claim to be fluent in German (or any other language, for that matter)?
He’s more than fluent😊
Add another 4 or 5 languages
@@paulmurphy8549 Deutsch, Französisch, Englisch und etwas Italienisch. Genau wie mir.
Sandra Bullock, as she grew up in Germany until her teenage age. :-)
if you try to play the understatement game by intention you have arrived at Waltz big time
I'm madly in love with him. He's handsome, gifted and grounded x
Luck is, when preperation meets oportunity, but nothing!
...and then you still might have tons of badluck...
Very nice for him to have said this, BUT he really is a great actor.
Christoph is so very well spoken. In literally four languages.
I was asked the same question. My answer was 99.99% to God. My skills did have a part of it. .01% me.
It must be said: Christoph Waltz is hands-down one of the most attractive men in entertainment. Pleasing aesthetics aside, much of his intense appeal is owing to those intangible qualities we typically bundle up as “charisma”, but his magnetism isn’t sullied by the inauthenticity and performative elements that the label implies.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Without either than luck will not come into existence. And to claim luck for your achievements is a disservice to the hard work that is required for preparation, and the continuous watchful eye that is needed to spot opportunity. To claim you achieve something through luck is a disservice to your own effort and the efforts of everyone else who found “luck”. It makes people lazy and resentful.
Blessings are not luck my friend. Congratulations.
I think another way to say.Luck is circumstances in your life that have worked out in your benefit that you did not instigate. Everybody is presented with moments in their life that they can turn into something that would appear to be lucky, but if you're not perceptive to the moment, then you'll never know.
HE WAS BREATHING TALENT AS THE CHILD .HE WAS RAISED BY THEATER DIRECTORS AND IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF AUSTRIA. DISCIPLINE CHARACTER OF THE PEOPLE.. EXCELLENCE IS NOT A QUESTION. MY PARENTS.
Tiger Woods said something similar. Is this a sarcasm? Maybe, I don't know, all we know is that this man is one of the most talented actors to ever be on film, hands down.
That goes for everyone so everybody walking around all cocky and confident and s*** Best believe you lucked out it wasn't by your pure desire that you got there somebody helped you somebody noticed you somebody did something to help you out it's just facts If it wasn't your dad or your mom it was a teacher if it wasn't a teacher it was a coach if it wasn't a coach it was a scout if it wasn't a scout it was someone unfortunately we live in an era or at least here in America of me over everything me me me me me so it's kind of ugly here right now have been for a long time actually
HE should have been The Gentleman in Moscow. Love him
Just like there are superb musicians playing on the streets around the world you need luck. You still need drive & determination and take knock backs to really nail that audition / role along with the talent.
That was either the most humble thing I've ever seen, or the best con ever. Either way, bravo.
He is 100% lucky that he was born 100% excellent
A beautiful speech from a wonderful actor.
I like it that he spoke his own german "dub" 😂❤
This level of fake humility is a bit sickening.
What a brilliant, humble speech. Love it
Why is everyone doting on him rather than what he said!
What a lovely guy & one of the best actors ever!
Ego a side honesty is always the best way
Luck deserves more credit than it gets-
Being born is a matter of luck.
What a wonderful human being
Inglorious basterd ❤❤❤

20 percent luck....80 percent charisma and merit
If you think about it, having charisma and merit is also good fortune aka luck.
Wrong. O%. He worked hard to have all what he has and he did not give up!!!! In your honesty to art. Odd that you have counted on luck. Just prepared people have this kind of success. Working smart and hard
There is always luck involved. Some professions more some less.
@@alxk3995 luck? If I work hard in focus long time on topic then even if not all goes perfect, results are good. But if I work a short on topic and count on luck? BS;)
Luckier you are when you with honestly
No, acting really is a different kind of career, where success is not guaranteed by skill or hard work. And that goes x1000000 when it comes to winning an Oscar.
@@SimonBishop779 BS. Which different job has guaranteed success or good life ? Any? Stability is a myth.
His success is the effect of smart work, sometimes hard sometimes easy but continuity is the effect of luck? No. Discipline , mind set and goals.
Luck is a believe of a lotto poor mind
It's called humility...he has it in spades
Unsympathler!

Ossi Loch ist dein Name? Passt 😂
Just an absolutely lovely human being.
