My favorite player of all time. You don't know what it was like to watch him every season for 16 years. He was a small dude, and he feared no one. I'm surprised they didn't have the clip of when he stopped Jerome Bettis in his tracks. Just stopped the bus.

He's also my favorite player of all time. Passion, work ethic, leadership, massive hits. Exactly what Philly loves. Even scored offensive td. Really wish he could have gotten a ring and retired an eagle. Can't believe the organization did him like that towards the end

Dawk never won a Superbowl as a player. It is the one blemish on his career. I wasn't a big fan of the Vincent Films video. There is a far better one put out by NFL Films which is his career highlights. What the the Vincent films didn't stress was his off field personality. Honestly he is one of the nicest people you could meet off the field. Never curses, and always speaks positive. Speaks with amazing heart and passion. But he gave it all on the field. He wanted everyone to know that at the final whistle, win or lose, there was nothing he held back for that game. He is highly respected in the NFL, and is an absolute legend of Philadelphia sports. His number was retired, so no other Eagle will ever wear 20 again. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year and as he was a member of the Eagles front office last year, he did receive a Superbowl ring.

It was really awesome that he FINALLY got a ring from Jeffrey Lurie after the big win in 2018. So well-deserved, right along with Dorenbos and so many other guys.
B-Dawk will always be my favorite eagle, and among my all-time favorite players.

I'm a long time Eagles fan, so take this with a grain of salt: But one of the best things I like about the Eagles is the respectful 'good person' vibe so many of our people have had over the years. Talent and decency keeps me coming back to Philly. Reggie White, when I first got into them. BDawks in the aftermath. Today I think Wentz has a great vibe that the team feeds on. Alot of our players over the years (at least since I've been watching) have been really solid people.

B-dawk was really awesome, and the funny thing is he could probably jump into the game right now and still play really well.
There were maybe a handle of players that could do things like run down Michael Vick IN HIS PRIME. Dawkins was one of them.
Weapon X will always have a special place in this Eagles' fan's heart.

He actually was known as a meek and mild guy off the field. Players talk about he had a gentle way about him. And then, all of a sudden on game day, he'd become a totally different person.

Philadelphia sports talk, local papers, magazines, etc have asked Eagles fans who their favorite players has been in their lifetime.
The winner isn’t a QB, RB, WR or any of the glory positions. It’s always Brian Dawkins. I concur. He’s my favorite of all time. Pure intensity, and a hell of a human being off the field. As vicious as he was on the field, he was a mild mannered puppy dog and charitable human being in the community.
I live in Washington DC now, and even my friends here, die hard fans of the rival Redskins, respected the hell outta that guy. I think they see a lot of Sean Taylor in him.
Congrats on your Hall of Fame induction, BDawk!

I knew Bdawk was the real deal when he tackled Barry Sanders in the open field. That was either his rookie or 2nd year.
That video you watched was good, but didn't do him justice.
Here's the NFL list of players with 25 INTs 25 Sacks 25 Forced fumbles:
    Brian Dawkins
You hit that hard, ball is coming out!

  • @patholmwood2030

Brian Dawkins was the best on field personality ever. Not to mention he is one of the best safeties ever and he was one of the pioneers of the hard hitting, blitzing, playmaking safeties with Sean Taylor. His hunger to play was unmatched by anyone past or present. One of a kind is an understatement for Dawkins.

Thanks for responding to my comment. I don’t know how I missed this one. It doesn’t cover what may be my favorite moment in football when Weapon X had his first game back in Philly as a Bronco. You don’t need to react to it because it is so short but I would HIGHLY recommend you watch it. Search “Brian Dawkins returned to philly from A Football Life”. It’s a great documentary too but the clip is so powerful. It shows what this means to people.

I’ve really loved all your videos that I’ve seen. Do you have any showing us Americans any of the great rugby and Aussie rules football players from over the years?
As an Eagles fan, I’ve seen our team pick up Sav Rocca and Jordan Mailata from the prior sports mentioned. Rocca was a fantastic experiment as a punter. Not only did he have a huge leg, but he could actually throw a brutal hit. Punters usually don’t get involved in contact, but he never shied away. Mailata is a work in process becoming an offensive lineman.

Dawk never won one as player for is 13 years being with the Eagles and 3 years with Denver. Philly brought him in as a Football Operations Executive and part of the Scouting staff in 2016. He was Philadelphia. He does have a ring. (He earned his ring finally along with his HOF ring in that same year) He used the energy from the Philly crowd and always gave a 110% every game he played in. His big highlight was when the Eagles faced the Houston Texans back in 2002 where he made the quadrafecta. He forced a fumble, intercepted a pass, Caught a pass and scoring a TD in that game. I was at that game and that was by far his highlight as an Eagle. If you were in the Eagles or Broncos locker room. He was the only player that had two lockers (one for him and the other his alter ego 'Weapon X') I believe thats in the Pro Football Hall of Fame ever since he got inducted.

He called himself "Idiot Man" on the field because when he got on the field, he was so crazed that all he wanted to do was beat the other team down. He didn't care how he did it and his celebration were idiotic and he knew it, but he couldn't contain himself; ergo "Idiot Man" was born.
