Hats off to AMD for compatibility and sharing technologies like this or freesync. Unlike nvidia with their dlss or gsync...
Amd wouldn't have done this if DLSS wasn't such a huge hit. They don't care about you they care about profit and they needed an alternative to DLSS. It's great we get both and each has pros and cons. Stop being a fanboy
@Joe Pascal as long as your game supports DLSS you should be able to upscale whatever resolution you use, i have a 32:9 aspect ultrawide monitor and i can use it without any worries on anything that has it. Old dlss 1.0 only worked on 16:9 aspect ratio but anything after 2.1 will do custom resolutions. On top of that any games that have the newest version of DLSS you can copy the .dll file from that game to any game that uses an older dlss and instantly have the newest dlss for that game too, without the devs even having to update it :) cant speak for fidelityfx tho but thought you might appreciate the info
U need to stop overhyping this. It’s freakin old and it’s just a sharpener. Also we already on amd fsr in ac and it’s not good. Honestly I’m very disappointed in amd. I knew fsr won’t keep up with dlss but it can’t even beat simple TAAU...
and isn't assetto the first to have it through mod ? otherwise that means we have the best modders out there
@@nyftn No, GTA5 already had it.

That's interesting, I have the same card and thought that Fidelity is not supported. I'll definitely give it a try.
This was a good update to CSP from Ilja and it's only going to get better. I can't wait for future updates. It's definitely worth supporting him on Patreon.
@@DeusNobiscum why wouldn't you want to support ilja? It's not expensive...

@@DeusNobiscum the lowest of the low
Tree fx soon hopefully hehe
@@atrgames Umm guys the feature is available for the latest public version and no Patreon needed; that's what they meant. Why are you all so quick to jump at people and harass them?
Also some people can't even if they had the money, for example Patreon blocked my country so i have to borrow a friend's VPN to even get the privilege of paying for it, and even then Paypal doesn't accept my country either so i have to resort to other solutions like begging friends to buy things for me. So not everyone has access to credit cards or online shopping even if they had the money irl.
Thanks for the run through of what this is and what this does. As a big VR sim racer this will help out so much!
Have you tested it in vr
When I updated to this 1.76 preview I noticed a major FPS improvement and I didn't know what made that change. Now I know! And it is a really nice update as always.
Hey Callsign. I wanted to let you know that you don't actually need the Patreon version to get access to AMD FSR as you said in the video. When a new feature is released, it comes out for both current Patreon Preview version, and the current Public version. So at all times, the only exclusive feature has always been RainFX.
Otherwise great video!
thanks for this
But the most recent public version on the official Discord is v0.1.71 from january. Or is there another way to get the public build?
@@eightcores You install the latest through the Content Manager, there is no reason to install it from elsewhere.
@@eightcores im pretty sure, when i installed 1.76 preview, i saw 1.75 was available.
Yeah but 1.75 public release didn't have the feature.
AMD Fidelity FX for Assetto Corsa!! This works on ANY video card!!! In content manager CSP 1.75 and above there is a setting in graphic adjustments called fidelity fx. Turn this on for almost double the fps with settings just about maxed. I went from 45 triples max settings to 85 with my 2080ti @ 11k x 2160!
It's already in Content Manager. Update and it should be in Settings / Custom Shaders Patch / Graphics Adjustments. No paying needed. I saw it was available yesterday when I wanted to try something (car/track)...
Thanks for that!
@@randomcallsign The bigger the resolution = better results. In 1920x1080 even in ultra quality, drop in graphics is somewhat noticeable. At 4K FSR Ultra Quality really shines because it has more information to work with when upscaling. Unreal 5 has even better upscaling then FSR because it takes temporal information in account too. Maybe it's there even in the latest Unreal Engine 4 too.

This update brought me back to playing AC. On my Reverb G2 can run 90% resolution and graphics setting high and 8x MSAA on RTX 2080. Did put headset on 60 fps, to keep clear overhead in FPS and play in all types of weather. Super sharp. Have preset on Quality and Sharp on High. Quality setting looks great on 90% or higher resolution. Lower and you see jaggies and need Ultra Quality.
Running 3070TI didn’t really notice a huge difference in 1440p but 4K, holy moly!
Surprised the 3070Ti can't run AC natively @ 4K anyway. Does it even need FSR?
@@Daz555Daz oh no it definitely doesn’t but still got a 40% fps boost on balanced and about 10% on ultra quality :)

Weird, I thought online performance being low with that many cars etc would be a cpu not a gpu thing
It can run basically on eveything, it runs on my super slow intel integrated graphics laptop (Intel Graphics 520)
1060 4gb laptop with an i5.....medium settings @ 4K is a solid 60fps while maxed is 50fps. 1440p is 100fps, 1080p is 120fps. Shockingly huge performance upgrade.
I just tested it and for me the performance boost is really incredible!! Using a 2080 Super and G2 Reverb, I got 72fps at Bremgarten with 20 AI drivers, with my SteamVR supersampling set to 60% and using Reshade.
Then I turned this option on, set it to quality and sharpening to very high. For the same race I now got 90fps, the max for the G2 Reverb. Then I increased my supersampling to 80%, normally the biggest fps killer. Still 90fps during the same race..
Have to test this more to see how far I can boost the resolution and graphic settings while still getting a stable 90fps during a full race, but man.. this REALLY is incredible!
I have a 1070 n runs veeery well, 30 fps boost for me!
1440p triples 1070ti confirmed!!! 30fps
Which setting? Quality or balanced boss
@@renuxgraffiti quality, and sharpness is at max, if I run it on the shitty settings for it there slick, dude I'm touching 135, nuts, it looks real bad, but still, now that I've played more with it, on the ring, 55 cars starting tail, dips to 53, on quality and sharpness maxed, and EVERYTHING in C.S.P. even the stupid stuff, shadows, reflections, mirrors
Enabling AMD FSR (graphics adjustments) causes the camera angles to become off center for me…does anyone know what setting is causing this?
I'm on 4K triple OLED and this is a HUGE help! I'm trying to keep in the 90-120fps on the wimpy 3090 and this does the trick!
its about 10 fps boost on HP reverb G2. resolution eats the f out of resources
Which graphics card? Do you usually get average 90fps in native 4k?
@@gabrieloff1581 I have 2080 super. I play 1440p in non vr. Usually get about 80 fps on everything pretty much maxed out. Without frs in vr its 40-50 fps, with frs 50-60. So it works. Haven't properly checked non vr frs but I imagine it's a boost about to the same effect
@@RUINERS 40-50fps in vr sounds unplayable to me, even if using locked reprojection. The only way I can play is completely disabling reprojection and aiming for locked 90fps, a few dips being acceptable of course. Unfortunately this all too often means turning graphics down way further than I'd like...
So does this actually work in vr? Just like that? Wow. If modders can do it that easily I wish devs would put in the time, dirt rally 2.0 could definitely do with it, that game has terrible performance. Maybe dirt rally 3 will come with fsr/dlss support for VR? Surely future games can't ignore the benefits of this tech and see the value of including support
I just posted my experience - I9 9900, 2080 Super and G2. In short - before I had 72fps in a race without this option and SS to 60%. After setting this on - I have 90fps at 100% SS in the same race. What CPU do you have?
RX580, was able to get ~60 fps with tiple screens (1080p). Used Low settings in AC and Balanced in FSR. Without FSR it was arond 40 fps. With Performance mode I could get over 70fps but AC started to look like a PS2 game

U are absolutely correct . I think what your describing is already offered in Nvidia Experience I think . I didn't really notice a difference at 1080 . I'm using also Intel 4770k , 32gb ram , 1660ti gpu & ssd & an old single 32" monitor
GTX 1060 6GB it works sooo good ... before 38 fps on close max out and now close to 60 ...wow
Absolutely amazing vid man thank you
You didnt see a difference in 1080p because the 1080ti is easily capable of that. If it was a weaker card it would have an effect. Great job to AMD delivering technologies like this!
Me, playing in VR: "cool"
This helped a lot with performance for me. I have a r5 3600x 2070 super and 16gb ram. I went from an average of 75 fps to 110 fps on ultra quality!
Running it in VR on my Valve Index it almost doubles my performance. (Frametimes: 17ms without FSR, 9ms with FSR "balanced")😲
But i'd definitively recommend FSR in "Quality" or "UltraQuality" mode, because of better image quality. On "balanced" you have some noticeable aliasing.
I had no idea fsr worked so well in vr I guess that's where the simplicity of this tech compared to dlss comes in I just wish amd integrated this driverside even if it does have compatibility issues in some games
i hope we get FSR 2.1, because the fact that i can run Tarkov in a 1050TI at 60fps 1080 with no visible quality loss its insane
I use a 1650 and without the setting the most fps I could get in rain would be around 30 but with it I can get a very steady 58 fps. Thank you for exposing this setting for the world.
Do you know about frametime? Limiting it can also help in smoothness.
Amazing! On my RX 5700 XT at 7680x1080 triples I'm getting at least 30% fps improvement with everything cranked up! Previously I would have had to lower the shadow and reflection resolution and still not get the same FPS boost. Quality mode seems to be the sweet spot for me but I do lower to balanced on tracks that are not as optimized.
Good vid. Yeah, I've been doing this and the improvement is amazing. I'm lucky enough to have a high end PC and play in VR and thought this kind of performance was two GPU generations away. Brilliant. I also have Steam VR Motion Reprojection turned on and even the large free roam maps run great with max settings in Content Manager. I have motion reprojection set to auto so it will only kick in when needed such as at the start of a race with lots of cars in front of you. The drawback with motion reprojection is artifacting on some straight edges like display boxes but it's a good compromise for an added boost in performance above using FidelityFX (FSR) and is why I have it set to auto. This is miles ahead of any other sim and why I am only using AC at present.
I race in VR with a 2080it Rzen 7 2700, the VR graphic is more immersive with AMD FSR. But in the beginning your VR setting is going to be a mess you have adjust the VR to the AMD FSR. I did not get a frame rate boost; because I set it to Ultra quality; but when I set to performance I get 14 fps boost but, because of VR: 9 extra frames without taxing the graphic card. You have to pick what type of candy you want.
With a 1660 super OC in a 1080p screen I get around 7/10 fps more with Ultra Quality and I can barely notice any diference in image quality. Higher end cards designed for 1440p and up are the ones getting worst performance at 1080p as it gets CPU bound instead.
With my Nvidia 1660 super I gained ~8 FPS at 1080p. Nice. This game is being better and better :)

I’m running just a gtx 1080 and a reverb g2 and it’s made a world of difference. Huge benefits with using the upscaler especially considering there is a version from github that replaces the standard openvr api with the modified fidelityfx program in it. If anybody has issues with low fps or high frame timings absolutely check it out
Any chance you can direct me to this FX program? I'm running a 1080 and a i7-7700k with my G2 and I'm struggling to get over 30fps, makes me feel Hella sick with the low fps...
@@CptChinky update csp then go to graphic adjustments
The sharpness settings can easily be seen on a 1080p screen. I'm running a 1080p viewsonic screen @ 75hz and that is using a GTX1070. At times FSR has trouble keeping up, if I pick a fast car at a small or medium size track, I can see the sharpness turning off and on. Its kind of like the shifts when running depth of field. During the replays, FSR makes AC look a hell of a lot better than without it switched on. I didn't notice any upscale, cause my base resolution was 1080p. So from 1080p to 1080p is no improvement.
tried it with my oculus rift S but AC runs very poorly with Open VR anyways. I tried it anyways and the performance boost from native to ultra quality is just 2 fps and with quality about 10fps. but I the performance with open vr is as i said very poor with an oculus headset. I can run stable 80fps through the CM benchmark with my oculus mode and with open vr native it hovers around 65-72 fps.
runs great on a 1060! I can run 4K single screen with good fps. For a long time I had it enabled and it didn't seem to do much. Then I realised I had to have FXAA ticked and away I went. Great!
Just checked it out, I'm running an 8700 , 1070ti @1440p on triples, picked up 30 frames, I'm running cranked EVERTHING, amdfx at very sharp, and balanced 50 car grid back of the pack, night, down to about 58-64 fps, I'm blown away, leaving it with the settings I was using before, I was down to 35ish high to ultra, and my highs were 75ish, I'm sitting at 90+ holy shit with it maxed out, crazy and free..........
I'm using GTX 980 non TI. And sadly, I use Performance, because this video card starts to show its age. Before I use FideletyFX, the gameplay is choppy from 20 fps and below. Sometimes after 3 to 8 minutes ingame, the game starts to play at a PowerPoint fps. After enabling it and use Performance mode, it is playable again. Thanks for sharing this. I thought it is for AMD only. But it works with my good old 980.
Personally running FSR on a GTX760 and 1680x1050 res (very potato but it is what it is) and the gains are definitely there. I got up to a 50% boost at Performance settings, atm only using Quality which gives nice 10-15% boost while still looking very good.
Im in love with the Sol Reinhard filter
i saw the csp update yesterday and im so happy that fsr is on ac so my gt1030 can finally reach acceptable fps when playing with ppf
GT 1030? You are a saint. :-)
Assetto Corsa is a massive GPU bound game for most of people, so you're results about 1080p can change drastically for people that have old mid end (rx,1060, 970) and specially entry level card such 1050TI, 960, etc. But people that have RTXs or better cards, probably the game reach easily 100~120FPS, so it CPU overhead cames to be a real problem and DLSS or FSR couldn't boost FPS at 1080p in these systems. DLSS, in other hand, could make the image quality much better.
I'm running a 3070 at 1440p and on single screen at the highest settings possible FSR gave me a whopping 20-40 fps boost but it's not that noticeable since without it I get 150 fps anyway. But on VR it was a game-changer. I was getting 80 - 90 fps at literally ultra settings. But ASW or motion smoothing kicked in during races and capped the fps to 40. But it was the smoothest 40 fps I've ever seen.
doesn't work in vr for me throws the display way out of wack
didnt notice anything in vr
Thanks, but for me it is showing the car off to the side for some reason, maybe need to update amd driver? I'll try that.
I have a Rx5600xt running AC at max settings and 1080p with the extension at Ultra Quality and Sharpening at max.
On Mt.Akina with the extension on im getting almost a +20fps with the images looks a bit sharper than the base. however it isnt as smooth as the base version, however because this is new so im thinking it do need to be work on a bit more. But right now im gonna say the base version is better.
I ignored this feature because of my Nvidia GPU and it‘s name AMD…
But thanks to your video I checked it out and with ultra quality AC is playable again (compared to ACC) in regards of sharpness and clarity in VR.
Thanks to you and of course to Ilya.
Unfortunately had no affect at all on my system. Nvidia 2070 Super, i7, triple 2K monitors. I understood it was not dependant on having an AMD GPU.
I did not gain any fps, though AC runs well anyway. Could really use some help with boosting performance with ACC, Hoping support for it comes out soon
Ah - my apologies! In ultra performance I saw no gain. Changing to performance setting I gained 20-25 fps. Hard to tell yet if there is any change in what the graphics look like
It should run on any 900/1000/1600/2000/3000 series Nvidia graphics cards. I have a 1650ti and it works although the FPS is strange since every time I restart the game the FPS boost changes
I have a MSI GTX1070 gaming X and notice only 2-3fps more and lower visual fidelity overall :( tested in AC in VR on a Rift S can only hit a constant 40fps and 60fps on monitor @1080p.
Idk about no reason not use use if your at 1440p. I limit my framerate to 60 fps artificially because this time of year I prefer not to have essentially a heater blowing hot air into my room while I sit in a leather chair at 35° baking in the mid day sun haha. And that's in the uk, I can't imagine what it's like an an actually hot country

I've been testing with a 980Ti on a 1080p monitor, and I found something interesting, maybe someone more lectured than myself can shine a light:
As stated on the video, any setting at 1080p does basically nothing, and sometimes it even hurts performance. But that's with Extra FX disabled.
I never use it, but I decided to activate it and test with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and voilà: about 15 to 20fps gain. The numbers went up on "balanced" and "performance" but they do look too soft.
So yeah, at 1080p any setting makes framerate go down, unless you use Extra FX, where it will go up.
I can already get settings exactly how I want them with stable 60fps and true 4k in most pancake games, so this doesn't do much for me, but if they added this tech to the vr versions of games It would be absolutely amazing. Vr is just too damn demanding...
Edit: wow, OK. So it does work in vr?! Fantastic!
FidelityFX Super Resolution is not a reconstruction technique, nor comparable with DLSS and TAA. It’s only an upscaling alternative
Why does blurry FXAA need to be on in order for FSR to work in 2D mode? I'd much rather use MSAA instead but that doesn't work now when FSR is enabled.

It's a post processing filter, it has nothing in terms of frame reconstruction or temporal syncing. It's inferior and only really works for resolutions higher than 1080p (since it's upscaling).
"just dishonest"
Why would it be?
The end user here, aka sim racers, care a lot about the blend between game performance and looks. It doesn't matter that at the technical standpoint that Nvidia is 'superior'. The end user cares only about the end result, not the internal nitty-gritty of it.

only going to matter when you're already GPU bound. Callsigns charts are essentially useless unless you have the same GPU, CPU and to some extend RAM speed and timings as him. Otherwise YMMV heavily, its easy enough to run something like Afterburner and assess your graphing to see if you're gpu limited on current settings or not.

Really cool to have it in AC! Although when using an Oculus Rift S it creates a strange fish eye effect, anybody got a fix for that?
I'm having the same issue as well, and turning the setting down lower makes it even worse. Ultra Quality is a slight effect whereas Performance is super zoomed in and warped. If you managed to find a solution to this I'd love to know. Running an Oculus CV1 on a Nvidia 3080.

FSR runs on anything with Shader model 5.0 or higher.
So let me get this straight, by turning it on at 1080p does it make it look better at the cost of lower minimum but same average fps?
It depends on your processor and gpu. If you're cpu limited you won't see a performance boost, but for me I gained 10% for no visual degradation. It doesn't look better, but it doesn't look worse either
@@EddoWagt I've been testing and I'm getting about 6-12 more fps. at least it's something I guess
I dont understand the idea of it, I might have missed something? So is this for both slower rigs and high performance rigs, or just for slower rigs to improve quality and fps? Like is there an up or a down on a powerful rig?
Theres not downside, the idea is to improve performance at the cost of almost nothing. Maybe for some people it will get a bit blurry but thats fixable
@@zekkai1005 so its basically for everyone
@@laur.an01 yeah, even if you have a 3090-5900X combo running AC in 4k with all that stuff is taxing, this will literally improve performance in 4K(even in VR)
Gonna try this on my 3090!
CAn you please help me? Whenever i turn it on, and then go into a session, it zooms me or changes fov in a weird way almost like nausea effect in minecraft. I have the oculus quest 2, any help would be appreciated
almost like a fish eye lens
Fidelity fx turn it off
@@randomcallsign ye i know but is there a way to keep it on and dont have the bug
I have an AMD RX580 and it runs perfectly. In ultra quality settings i am getting 10-15 fps boost
Hey I have the same card, does it look blurry on 1080p?
FSR enabled me to play at a capped 60 FPS with everything nearly maxxed out, it's amazing. If I disable FPS limit it goes up to 75, 80 FPS average, and I'm using Ultra-Quality. Previously with the same settings I played at 45 FPS.
And I play at 1080p, so I can't agree with your assessment. I don't recommend using Quality or below if using 1080p, but Ultra-Quality runs great and it does increase performance significantly for me.
Hey, when I turn on AMD FidelityFX my interior view is looking to the left and slightly upwards, why does that happen? I gain more fps, but can't play like that.
I have a RTX 2060 Super , Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB 3200Mhz RAM and game is running on a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo
I have the newest drivers
Update : Fixed it by turning off FXAA in ac video settings, but I don't gain any fps, maybe 4-7FPS on the Balanced setting :(
I read somewhere that turning off depth of field fixes it.
I've got a problem with the new setting.. my english is not very good, but I'll try to describe the problem ... my display is no longer centered. the camera is now on the left and zoomed in, so that I no longer have the complete picture available, but only part of the left section..
I think I need to change one setting.. Can anyone help me please?
dude i have a RX560X from 54fps i can bump it up to ultra with 70fps to spare
My Content Manager doesn't offer any CSP higher than 1.75. Think you need 1.76 for this?
1.75 has this
@@randomcallsignThanks, I finally found it, for some reason I expected it to be somewhere down the page, but it is more at the top. ;-) Gonna try it later, though native doesn't run all that bad on my 5700.
What about 2560x1080 resolution 21:9 29 inch ultrawide monitor? Will it benefit....?? Pls answer, Thanks 🙏
