And Oakland has a long history of doing that. That's quite literally how the Black Panthers Party formed.
The biggest safety hazard in Oakland is City Hall.
It takes the city 5 years to address a dangerous pothole, but they send a crew to immediately remove beautifully decorated and carefully crafted safety installations. Dumb.
Spot on accurate.
Concrete manufacturers and highway developers are barely making ends meet with out tax money. 😕
Doesn't make sense, does it?
Hey maybe if concerned residents started making their own potholes randomly right around an already existing one, then in the process of undoing their efforts the city might accidentally also fill in the original pothole!

lol I like how the city was quick to remove the barriers that the community put to slow down traffic as it is dangerous for people to cross the street and for people walking on the sidewalk - they literally did it in less than a day. But will drag their feet and ignore fixing the roads and public safety.
Five years to remove an encampment.. 5 hours to remove a community project.
And why do we still have government and pay these greedy thieves taxes? The community can solve their own problems and the govt hates that.
Exactly! 🤦🏽♀️
US road design inherently makes it unsafe.
Because they’re cowards. Law abiding citizens are easier to deal with.

This is the people they vote for, repeatedly. It's amazing to see.
Oakland has 245,111 registered voters, of which 159,771 are registered Democrats. The most Democratic district in California and 4th in the USA. The Oakland City Council KNOW they will never be removed from office, so why would they care what these sheep think or want.
@@cidie1No one votes for their to city keep ignoring them. Quit repeating nonsense.

@@monkeytimestamps4915 It's a form of brainwashing. There are groups of people all around the world who loosely belong to a larger collective group of people who want to control things. This is about the next best thing to money for them....

They want to be able to make the rules and pass judgment on those who they don't believe are following their rules, properly.
One of the main ways they go about this is to make the people reliant upon the Govt. They want the people to believe that the ONLY people who can solve their problems are those in POWER and who are "The Government".
I'm not talking about elected officials, I am talking about those who pull the strings of the elected officials.
Joe Biden is the perfect example of this. His mind hasn't been sharp enough to run the country as well as dealing with foreign policies for several years now so SOMEBODY has been calling the shots behind the scenes.
Kamala is another example whereas she is nowhere near smart enough to run the country and deal with foreign policies, we ALL know this.
But she has obviously agreed to be the "figurehead" for those who are.
That's why she was shoved down our throats as our Democratic Party Candidate without even ONE AMERICAN voting for her to be that candidate. NOT ONE.
Do you ever wonder how long-time members of Congress from both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party can end up becoming multi-millionaires working a job where they make less than $200k a year???

Folks in oakland need to wake up and mobilize. There should be massive rallies demanding the resignation of there mayor, DA, and city council .
@@frv1995 While I totally agree with you, the reality is that most minorities in Oakland have lost faith in the political and criminal justice system. Over the past 25 years the problems and issues in their neighborhoods have been ignored, while money and resources have been used to maintain and upgrade the more affluent areas of Oakland.
For example, a few years ago public schools were being closed in certain neighborhoods due to budgetary issues while, at the same time, the Mayor and City Council made a $2 billion commitment to build a baseball stadium in Jack London Square. Ironically, a large number of people who actually live in Oakland cannot even afford to attend professional sporting events. Despite many people kicking, screaming, protesting, and showing up to City Council meetings...the Mayor (Libby Schaaf) refused to allow taxpayers to vote on the issue. Every other city in America votes on funding stadiums. Things like this have been going on for a while and many have just flat-out lost faith in the system.
On the other hand, whites are the majority race in Oakland but because most of the problems don't make it to their neighborhoods, they are less likely to leave their safe neighborhoods and travel to a filthy, crime riddled, and homeless populated downtown area to protest.
With many in Oakland feeling that over the years politics and criminal justice have favored some and penalized others, I can see how utopian rhetoric from Pamela Price and City Council members sounded like a much-needed change. However, as we know, campaign rhetoric and practicality seldom meet expectations. So, you end up with a mess of a city.

Property values drop and investors come in and buy for cheap. There's a reason city officials don't want to solve the problems
And yet, in November, dollars to donuts they will once again vote for the same people they’re complaining about. You get the government you deserve, Oakland.
Signed,
A frustrated Oaklander
R.i.g.g.e.d elections have consequences
Not just Oakland... the entire braindead country.
You think maybe the election outcome has already been rigged to keep the shady people in office? Me thinks so……it’s been done before.
Removing the tires tells you that the city is against you .
Criminals have rights ya know!
_(In Oakland, only criminals)_
I was encouraged by an officer to commit a crime, if his discretion wasn't fair ... In a situation where I could have kept my truck which only needed air to move from, in front of my house.. instead he towed it...
Systemic racism from the bottom up.
What could go wrong when you elect people, vote for the policies and the party that enables criminals in the name of social justice?
Can you tell me one right that criminals have that is also not a right given to everyone else?
Oakland government . “No money no go”
The problem isn’t what the locals did. The problem is the local government didn’t get paid
This is the equivalent of putting your hands up to stop a bully from hitting you, and instead of stopping the bully, the teachers pulls your hands down so the bully can keep hitting you.
Except you voted for the teacher and will vote for them again and then again.
@@ericbailey6779 I see this type of comment a lot. Do you actually want things to get better or do you want things to get worse so you can say “I told you so”? Or do you feel like you’re more likely to get people to change their voting this way?
@@bigheadrhino I've given up on people a long time ago. No, I don't expect most people to think and vote outside of their little echo chambers. I expect them to keep voting for the same kind of goobers they always vote for and then cry about nothing changes.
But, I do enjoy a little schadenfreude every now and then. And, before you say it, no, I don't think I'm smarter than anybody else. I'm just willing to pay attention and be more informed than most. I trust no one and I question everything.
If I can put in the effort to learn why these politicians act the way they do, then they can to. And shame on them for not paying attention till the problem was literally burning rubber at their doors.
You've basically explained the great replacement theory. Oh except the teacher is giving the bully an award and saying what a better class start going to have once you vanish from school and all they have are these bullies that we need to understand and help from cradle to grave with the victim's money
@@ericbailey6779 doesn’t this make you guilty of the same sin as the people you criticizing? You’re fixating on politics and personal feelings than on practical solutions to problems.
Vote in the recall election.
What's the point if you elect another defund the police, soft on crime liberal?
incumbent rarely lose. who will even challenge them? I'll bet most of them run unopposed
So, the Oakland City Council have never seen roundabouts?!
You can’t trust the city to look out for you, all the city wants is your Taxes.
And then your taxes go to the bums who won’t work.
Vote blue, now live with ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The city should be ashamed of themselves but they are too tone deaf to understand the mixed message they are sending. They are basically telling their own residents to eff off and telling criminals to come and play
City leaders won't help the community they are to serve, and yet are quick to respond when the community takes care of itself. It sounds like the city council needs to be removed.
The city won't spend money on safety. They need the funds to protect the criminals.
Do Oakland officials realize the rest of the country thinks they are crazy?
they dont care
The citizens that voted for them are crazy. Democrats want to destroy our Constitutional Republic to make the US a socialist country.
No.
Never get the help needed, but they come to clean up in a heartbeat. 😂
Crazy how they wouldn’t go to help but they go to tear it down, make it make sense 🤦🏽♀️
That’s art too. Way to destroy something beautiful
That is old Oakland/ Berkeley. There used to be art everywhere.
I used to live in Oakland. The law abiding residents are only asking that their tax dollars be put to use correctly. PROTECT AND SERVE.
It’s interesting how the city acted swiftly to remove the barriers after dragging their feet on the citizens’ requests.
Encampments flow-over into the streets, daily side-shows, smash n grabs, now the City decides to address something🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤬🤬🤬
Good for the neighbors. Amazing the cities can clear immediately but can't stop the sideshow jerks. Why didn't they just install speedbumps in one day?
Their first mistake is living in Oakland.
The city should install a roundabout in the intersection and speed bumps. That will definitely stop them from putting a sideshow.
You can see it. I can see it. But the City government cannot? It is time for them people inside City Hall to go away. Vote them out.
But they won't. Plus, it was already there, all they had to do was sanction it and leave it alone.
