O-M-G, GIRL!!! What a FABULOUS job you do with just "bare essentials" of equipment!!! No Punches, save the household "school punch"; No Dies of various sizes to make the pieces/parts; Not EVEN a $10 paper trimmer!!!! AND ONLY a 6" RULER!!! I SO wish I had seen your tutorials before going down the path my friend has taken -- with ME right behind!!! I SING YOUR PRAISES WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!
Thanks. Please note that over time, the fishing line will naturally slack and lose its tension. I didn't know it would do that at the time of making the video. I would say instead, try to make it by using a very smooth thread.
Sorry the string was hard to see. Basically, you just wrap the string around the hub. It takes a number of tries to get just the right amount of tension on the string. Just make sure there is the least amount of friction/pressure on the hub possible. That will ensure a smooth spin.
Being creative seems to be easier when I'm pushed to " be creative " and that's usually when I have less to work with. The less supplies, the better more crafty I become and visa versa.
I'm so sorry you're having trouble with this one. Friction is your enemy with this mechanism. The key thing to remember is keep the paper loose. Gaps and spaces are your friends. First, the hub flaps should have a little space when you fold the flaps open. That's why I use a ruler to help fold them down to create a little gap between the hub's base and the opened flaps. I hope that makes sense. Try to make sure the hub doesn't completely lay flat when its in the hole and the flaps are open. That little gap makes a big difference. Then, the collar needs to also be loose in the two slots as I demonstrated in minute 8:11 in the video. Make sure the collar can essentially floating in its channel. Lastly, when you glue the slider onto the pulltab, make sure it's not glued to the string and it doesn't make the collar or hub tighten up or get flat. Keep it loose and your card should work. I hope that helps. Best wishes!
