Wow! Wow! Wow! I think this card is so fun and cute! My granddaughter does cartwheels all over the place so I know she will love this video and card when I share it with her! Thanks for sharing! Rita
This is soooooo cute & fabulous!!! I've seen a similar mechanism, but the element only spun, rather than spinning AND sliding. I love this! Definitely pinning it for future reference. Thank you for sharing, & have a fantastic day, Laura! :)
Thanks, Andrea! On the Square Type channel you'll find both types, but the lady used paper hubs, which are kind of tricky to make. Karolyn Loncon discovered that the spin & slide discs work even better and I just figured out how to link it to the pulltab. 😁
This is soooo cute!!! Love the cartwheeling gnome so much! This brought a smile to my face and I can't wait to make one to give to someone and brighten their day. Thanks so much for sharing!
AGAIN ! THANK YOU !!! Wanted to make another summer-salting gnome, but could not remember how I altered the spinner, and THERE IT WAS! My comment to you how I accomplished the alteration !! THIS time, I took a picture of this alteration to keep.
Btw, thank you also for helping those of us who want to skip the coloring part of the video. I just don't use Copic or other alcohol markers, so was not really interested. I wanted more to see the interactive mechanism part. :) Thank you again, & have a wonderful day! :)
Oh my gosh that is so stinkin adorable! I used to have a t-shirt that said I'm mechanically inclined I screw up everything LOL so I definitely don't understand the mechanics of how the thread makes it work but obviously it does I will be making one of these soon. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!I've been planning to make cards as an invitation to an online birthaday party where we are going to play among us, and this is just perfect for it!❤
Delightful card! As for the brush tip on the Copics getting smushy, I switched all of mine out to their Fine Nib, since I almost only color small images, & this factor became bothersome. I wanted to keep the chisel end for air brushing. HTH. Thanks for the video, & have a lovely day. :o)
Glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with this issue. I'm going to start storing the tricky markers with the brush nib pointing up instead of down... maybe it'll help. How did you use to store them?
@@Laura_Dovalo Copic says it doesn't matter how you store them (vertically vs horizontally), but I think they mean as regards ink flow---it only makes sense to me that a brush nib would do better stored up, do you agree? I store mine in the Copic aluminum case, which I would keep with the markers horizontal, ideally. However, the case is heavy, & I tire of turning it from the floor to use them. LOL :o)
This is adorable...how fun! I'm new to alcohol marker coloring. Which do you normally do...lightest, medium, darkest &then back to lightest do you usually do darkest, medium, lightest and back to darkest to blend? I only ask because I noticed you did it both ways in different areas. Thanks!!!
I sometimes start with the lightest to cover the whole surface (especially when coloring skin) and then I go from dark to light. But mostly I'll do dark to light. 😁
I learned a lot from you watching you color. I really want to learn Copic coloring and how to do it well. I was watching another colorist with these markers and she said that when they leaked, she took the top off to even out the pressure in the markers. I don’t know if that will help you with your problem with the brown markers or not but it’s worth a try. Great video!
Hi. Thank you for this tutorial : it is very clear / perfect (not like my english, I'm french !). Can you tell me the size of the spin you used make the macanism turn (in the video time-line 9:30). Is it possible to I use any material ? For example, can I take a wooden skewer (which I cut very small ! )
Thank you! Check out the original version of this card. She uses paper hubs (instead of the plastic dot) that she cuts herself and two slits instead of a channel. ruclips.net/video/SOvOBu3WyxA/видео.html If your prefer my version, you might be able to find some kind of hard plastic rod, that you can cut in slivers.
Thank you dear for reply. I was trying this but after 5-6 attempts, I ended with simple slider card. Would like to share with you if you're available on Instagram. And second, I always think why would I do same thing which are already available, but your video and the original one...huge difference...your presentation, explanation. I like that. Thanks once again
I, too, went looking for an ALTERNATIVE HUB, as, WITH SHIPPING, the ones from MFT were pricey. However, as my wonderful hubby pointed out, I was spending more on gasoline than I would have spent on the S&H (This was before the recent gas glut & quarantining.). Anyway, the exercise gave my gray cells a workout, but all the beads and tubing I could imagine were no match for the purchased item. (Though I DO have a fab design idea in my head!! teehee)
Im really struggling with the sliding mechanism. It won't stay put (keeps unravelling and you can see it on the right side when you try to move it back and forth). been at it all day.. Help!
Sorry to hear that. What kind of thread did you use and how many times did you wind it around the disk? I used clear and smooth (non elastic) sewing machine thread and I wrapped it three times... It's also very important to adhere it very well. You could try to cut slits in your back panel and then tape it, for extra hold. Mine also glimmers through the channel a little bit, but it doesn't bother me.
Laura Dovalo thanks Laura I used very fine fishing line but I’ll try thread. I was so excited and am now having a tantrum.... I’ll let you know how I go
I did it! I did it! It’s taken me a week of back and forth but I made it work! Now I have to completely re create the card because I’ve destroyed my original... I’m so happy that I didn’t give up ❤️😁
I love this card and I tried making it. But unfortunately, the string keeps getting loose so it doesn't spin properly. And now it has come completely undone. :/
Wonderful and fan card Laura! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you, Anja! You're the sweetest! ☺️
Wow! Wow! Wow! I think this card is so fun and cute! My granddaughter does cartwheels all over the place so I know she will love this video and card when I share it with her! Thanks for sharing! Rita
Thank you so much, Rita! ☺️
Why not take a mini picture of your granddaughter and use her image in the card?
@@kkrolf2782 That's an awesome idea! ^_^

What an awesome card. Love the way the gnome twirls. Thanks for the tutorial for the card & your coloring techniques.
Thank YOU for watching and leaving such a sweet comment! ☺️
So clever! You blow my mind with these interactive cards!!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Love the card, TFS. Try taking the lid off the other end of the marker to equalise the ink pressure xxx
I usually do that with new markers, but I'll definitely try it. Thanks for the tip! 😁
This is really amazing!!!

Thank you for this tutorial - I create one of these cards today using a record stamp - it turned out spinning! TFS
that was awesome, i think i would definitely have to watch this as i am doing it
That is a beautiful card darling
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment! 🤗
I don’t know if I can pull off a card like this, but I loved watching you do it!
Thank you! I'm sure you can! 🙂👍
This is so cute! Wondering if you can use a wavy slide rather than straight? I don't seem to have a straight one.
I'm afraid that wouldn't work, but you could cut your own channel with a ruler+craft knife and circle dies or hole punches.

Cards Classic or Cute QUESTION: If the caps don’t smoosh down on the tips, why would it matter HOW they are stored???

Wow that is so cool, you are very clever indeed :-)!
Thank you! I should have studied Engineering instead of Fine Arts. 😁😂
@@Laura_Dovalo LOL well you are mastering both clearly!!!
This was such a cool idea, love it. Can you please tell me what kind of thread was used for the mechanism?
Thanks, Chandhini! I used clear machine thread... it's not elastic.
Is veri nice,
Where can I get this spin n slide disc in India?

Oh no, what a bummer! Sounds like the fishing line might be too thick or slippery... Hope it works better with the thread.

@@antoinettedepasquale5336 - Sorry to hear that.
I ended up giving up on mine. At least I managed to make a short video of it working for a bit.
