Careful! If you only want to save your face expression, without your neck 'expressions' you have to dig further into 1. Head, 2. Pose Controls (thats where Daz is saving the additional Parameters for morphs and overlays of the head and neck) and then disable the Neck. Otherwise When you used Neck Settings they are overwriting the neckpose - which can be useful but most often is just annoying.
@@WPguru You only run into this problem when you use pose settings, which is a way to quickly adjust (in this case) the neck, but also the waist, the hip, the arms and the legs. You also find control nodes in these areas. Of course if you don't touch the pose settings at all, you will not run into any problems.

This is excellent, really useful stuff. I have lots of trouble with expressions, they never seem to work properly unless they are applied to the exact figure they we're made for. I (try) to make all my own characters and this some times entails using numerous morphs. I find that expressions then never seem to work properly and I've bought sets from studio and end up being very disappointed, a similar thing applies to poses too but to a lesser extent. This is good stuff Jay and a big help in understanding what's going on more. Thank you for this.
excellent tutorial, I would like to know if it is possible to import the expressions? I want to refine some poses of my models in blender, but I don't know how to import the expressions, could you help me? please
Yes that's possible: dial you the expression you like, then export your model as OBJ in base resolution. Zero out all expressions on the figure in Daz Studio, then make your adjustments in Blender and export again as OBJ. Back in Daz Studio, head over to Edit - Object - Morph Loader Pro and import your new expression as a morph. Make sure "reverse deformations" is enabled, and make sure the scale is the same on both import and export (for Blender, use the Modo preset). Good luck!
Expressions work on custom characters almost as well as on the base figure. I'd start with sliders, pick a few that I like, then record each of those as a Puppeteer dot. Then I'd blend them together until I'm satisfied. If anything is off I would correct it either with an adjustment slider or facial bone in Daz Studio, or create a morph in ZBrush or Blender.
Its been my experience that the G8F expressions dont work with G8.1F even when it says it does. That base set from Daz works because they give you a new batch developed specifically for G8.1F. Expressions, scripts requiring the "Genesis 8 Female" label being selected, and grafts with skin materials using the "torso" surface of G8 vs the "body" and "head" surface of G8.1 have faults in compatiblity function so be careful with those even when Daz sometimes says it works on both. Im currently finding that full character morph presets upgraded to G8 via converters will not apply on G8.1 either.
It's a weird one with expressions on Genesis 8.1, some users have a problem, yet others do not. Thankfully I'm the latter category. I had an issue with visemes though, and expressions are affected by the same problem: dummy files in the data folder. To make them work, rename the folder in question, then restart the app. I've explained how to make this work for visemes here: www.versluis.com/2021/02/visemes-on-genesis-8-1-and-how-to-make-them-work/ For expressions, the folder is data/DAZ 3D/Genesis8/Female8_1/Morphs/Daz 3D/Expressions Good luck!
@@WPguru So I also had Visemes greyed out even though I had some. I didnt notice it was only the visemes included with the Anilip Product that were available not the defaults. Tried your fix and the G8 default Visemes unlocked, as well as the G8 Expression Presets work on G8.1 finally. Thank You So Very Much this should be front page news, and DAZ should fix this ASAP. I had pretty much given up on ever using G8 expressions on G8.1. Again, very big thanks.

You're definetly a great source of information, tricks, knowledge. You really help new comers like me. Thank you
Great video Jay and looking forward to the one about the Glue To Floor product.
The channel is absolutely amazing! :-)
Thanks! 😃

excellent, thank you very much you saved my life 🤘😎
@@WPguruExcuse me, I have another question. If I want that expression to be based on a customized character, how should I do the process?
@WPguru Could you please help me understand how to make expressions for my custom characters? I actually need help with that.

3:59 Actually that is pretty good facial expression for her taking a dump! LOL!
😁
It's a useful tutorial. Can you make a tutorial about how to make a landscape or terrain in daz 3d please
