@@SharkCal I'm only saying this because Superstar Saga came out on a system that only has a single screen. It would be pretty difficult to adapt an experience tailored for two screens on a single one.
When I saw The book from the Thousand year door appear and it was actually Paper mario: TTYD I just kept saying "No way..!" Over and Over! Cause I never thought this would happen. I hope future Paper Mario games use this to hopefully get back on its feet to what it used to be to when it didn't lack unique characters.
So I actually was at work when Nintendo Direct happened! Before direct, there was a tweet that said: “What game are you looking forward to most on Nintendo Direct?” My response: “Thousand Year Door for Switch…” Hours later, after direct, I get a reply with “Congratulations…!” I thought “to what?” THEN… it was to Thousand YEAR DOOR!!!!! 👀 I had to RUclips it and THERE IT WAS!!!!! 👀
The series underwent changes in an attempt to reach new and various audiences. For Super Paper Mario, game director Ryota Kawade wanted to surprise fans of the series with new concepts that did not appear in the previous games.
Given SPM's development cycle, it's understandable why he wanted the game to be so different. It was originally planned to release on the GameCube. With 2 Paper Mario games releasing on the same console, SPM had to stand out from its predecessor.
Yeahhh uhhhhh... That excuse only really works for super paper mario, since they changed the formula, but they kept the spirit of the last 2 games, with a story that is probably the best in the entire mario franchise However, the sequel to spm, paper mario sticker star, was NOT hated because it was different. That game is bad. Like, really bad. And not just in comparison to the previous games, it's bad as its own thing. It is badly designed, has a bad story (which is worse than not having one, because the extremely barebones story that it has even has no world building, no characterization, and even contradictions and confusing parts), a bad combat system that rewards the player for avoiding combat and punishes the player for engaging with it, and bad character design, every npc is just the usual copypasted toad from the dawn of time, only difference being the color, so no new or unique species and no toads with different designs, and every enemy is just the same copypasted enemy, every Goomba has just the generic Goomba design, every Koopa has just the generic Koopa design, and so on. All this stuff is not excusable as them just "trying something new"
My first ever Paper Mario game was Sticker Star, and I consider it a guilty pleasure of mine. I completely understand the backlash it got; I just never felt the same way as all the hard core Paper Mario fans did since I never grew up with the spin-off series or its N64 roots... *_I know what game I'm asking for next year!_*
As someone who grew up playing TTYD, I’m so happy this is happening. I love SPM, and I can appreciate them at least *trying* to create new and unique ways of playing Paper Mario games, but it always saddened me that we never got another game like TTYD. It had so much heart put into it. And now, this feels like a giant love letter to all of us who never stopped caring about the older Paper Mario games and what they stood for and represented. It feels like the PM team telling us that they’ve been listening. The fact that it was not only the finale, but that it’s also not just a port, makes me hopeful for the future of the series. The art style has been revamped, the soundtrack has been remixed, the gameplay is likely to be just as good if not improved, and they even went the extra mile to add reaction animations and sprites for the npc’s and partners. I hope one day, SPM gets something like this too.
SPM was good all around despite, or really in part because of, significantly changing the gameplay from TTYD and the original. Sticker Star was an obvious lazily done cash grab of a game all around that didn't even pretend to be halfway decent in any way. Color Splash and Origami King both, and it was likely entirely intention on Nintendo's part, got by on "at least it's not Sticker Star." The only thing that makes Color Splash and Origami King notable at all is how low Sticker Star set the bar. Color Splash and Origami King just added in a few more things with each entry that as sequels to games like TTYD and SPM they should've already had.
@@immortalfrieza true. Super paper Mario is honestly right behind TTYD in terms of my favorite. It’s obviously credited for its story, but I think it’s gameplay is a lot better than people give it credit for. Does it lack the rpg battle sequences? Yeah, but the boss battles are still really fun. And well, the platforming allows them to really utilize the vertical space along with the horizontal. I tried sticker star and it kinda ruined the latter half of the games. I was excited for origami king, but upon trying it, I just couldn’t get into it :/
@@sealink129 I always considered SPM as a merger of the RPG story and style of the previous 2 games with gameplay that called back to classic Mario platformers. It was still an RPG, but an action RPG instead of a turned based one. Well yeah, that's because Origami King is just Sticker Star with a new coat of paint. Both entries after Sticker Star just added back in a few things that SPM and TTYD had, but did none of them as competently as either. This is so obvious I can't believe it's not entirely deliberate. Nintendo made a half assed game that probably took them a fraction of the time, money, and effort it took either of the games before, banked on Sticker Star selling off the Paper Mario name alone, and then sold the next 2 entries off of "At least it's not Sticker Star" by adding back in a few things that should've been in Sticker Star in the first place. It's sad just how well this paid off for them.
6:05 I was HOPING for that actually. Given the Hype around the Switch 2, It probably would have been better for this Remaster to be on that Console instead. I would have LOVED a Remaster of Paper Mario 64 with all of the QOL improvements TTYD Made to the Gameplay added in such as being given the Option to Level up to 99 as well as getting much more BP than we got in the OG Game. I hope that they give Mario his Spin from 64 in this Remaster as it was incredibly useful in that game.
I am really looking forward to playing this game. To be honest, Origami King was technically the first Paper Mario I played and due to that, I will always stand by that game. I have been playing through the original Paper Mario on NSO and have been enjoying it. Now I can finally play RPG Remake and TYD Remake. 2023 has been an incredible year for gaming, lets hope 2024 is just as good if not better.
This game really caught me off guard compared to the other games during this direct, and I must say that it looks absolutely amazing! Make that the 3rd new game (Wonder and Peach included) that I will be purchasing when it is available!! Also, congrats on the 250k subs milestone Landon! You deserve to treat yourself after this amazing accomplishment my friend!
You know, between SMB Wonder with its fresh new ideas that break the "New" mold of previous modern platformers, SMRPG being remade into something new that still has the spirit of the original, and this, I'm feeling a trend here. And the trend is looking good.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Don’t get me wrong, ttyd looks great, but it didn’t really lean in the paper aesthetic too much so I don’t really remember it’s art style when I think of paper Mario. Of course leaning too much in he paper aesthetic is bad either because of the stupid giant white lines but I really love how the remake looks because it blends both in this beautiful comic book artstyle and I really dig it.
I’ve never played TTYD, but I’ve heard nothing but praise from every Paper Mario fan. I started the series with Origami King (sorry I started the series late, but I might’ve actually started at the right time), and that game was amazing. I especially loved the visuals, music and Bobby (RIP my sweet prince), and I thought the battle system was alright. I think they tried to emulate the boots and hammer upgrades from the first games, and although it fell short, it’s still way better than Sticker Star and Color Splash’s battle systems combined. I am aware where Origami King fell short: too many Toads, no interesting partners (except Bobby of course), it felt too normal for a Paper Mario game. Meanwhile the first few games all tell different stories that develop with their characters. I’m excited to play TTYD, and to explore what many call the series’ best!
NGL I enjoyed Super Paper Mario's Gameplay much more than TTYD. It boggles the mind how one could go from something like SPM to complete Trash like Sticker Star.
It's sure did saved the paper Mario series. And I'm really hoping we could see other paper. Mario games get rebooted such as paper. Mario 64 would be a really good reboot. Or maybe in the future. A grand newpaper Mario game who knows? For information, I am really excited to play paper mode that 1000 new door.
I’m so excited to finally play this game. Origami King was my introduction to this series and I didn’t really like the game because of the battle system. I have played a few hours of Paper Mario N64 and it’s great, but I know how highly regarded TTYD is, and I’m so happy I get to experience the game for the first time on Switch
I am super excited to finally get to play TTYD. I have looked at it every year hoping to buy it but always turn away from the ridiculous price. I've always heard it's the best one. I will say, Super Paper Mario has always been my favorite so I don't see TTYD passing it... but I love the Paper mario games so I'm excited to play one I've never played before.
In some way, I can imagine emmet and po competing against each other in a friendly rivalry to reach the "legendary treasure" first. Why do I say this? Because I loved chris pratt as mario and jack black as bowser. Also, the lego movie and kung fu panda are some of my favorite movies of all time. So it's awesome to play a game I never got the chance to play in hd for $60; while at the same time making up a sick crossover of some of my favorite childhood movies, both of which are the G.O.A.T.
Thank you for telling people how important this is! They didn't change ANYTHING! The character designs, the storytelling, even graphic details like the noose was ALL kept! For them to keep all this means that no other game is out of the question! This is a remodel of Nintendo's decisions all together! No other Paper Mario game has as many well written, nicely designed, charming characters or details! Best battle system, best character designs, best villains, etc! *This 'old' game could very well win Game of The Year for 2024!* That's how good this game is even today.
The first Paper Mario game I ever played was Sticker Star, right when it came out. And I really enjoyed it, really alot. And when Color Splash released I also had a ton of fun with that game. And I still think that those are great games and they kinda don't deserve the hate they sometimes get. But after those two games I played Super Paper Mario, which was a refreshing difference and has an amazing story. Shortly after I played Origami King and was blown away by it's graphics and music, which led me to actually take a look into the old Paper Mario games: I played the first Paper Mario on the WiiU and absolutely loved it. I am an RPG nerd and as such it was a surprise to me that this series had actual RPG gameplay back in the day (though a very welcome one). Of course I started watching let's plays of TTYD afterwards and this is truly the best Paper Mario. I kinda got lucky with the order I played the games in, so I was able to enjoy them all to the fullest, but I am so looking forward to finally being able to play the one missing game, this really does feel like the finale of Paper Mario for me
I’d prefer a direct sequel more of a focus on puzzles and less of a focus on platforming. Make combat turn based, make pixies fleshed out partner characters, for example O’Chunks could be a partner whose ability would be to charge through cracked walls, similar to the bomb ability, Make Dimentio the main villain, make all the Merlin characters antagonists in some way, like they’re willing to sacrifice mario because they think that’s the only way to save all the worlds. Life would be a dream
Origami king was actually pretty good I loved it but I agree ttyd is truly the best paper Mario game hopefully this will lead up to a new paper Mario game with partners
What I had a problem with the flow of modern paper mario is the whole paper esthetic. It was like the game is trying too hard to tell us "REMEMBER THAT EVERYTHING IS PAPER!". The way the first three paper mario games did it in a way where the paper theme adds to the charm rather than be a tacked on gimmick. The characters were indifferent about being made of paper and just lived normally, and now we got toads saying "I got all crumpled up" or "Do i have creases in my folds?". Its too cringe and I'm glad to get more practical dialog for this game.
Sticker Star was a huge no for me, and I haven't played the Origami King yet so I don't want to express any opinion on something I don't know, but honestly, I actually still enjoyed Color Splash as a game. It was good-looking, charming, and had a lot of fun bits. I love the new paper aesthetic that doesn't limit itself to some gimmicks. The card system was a huge improvement to the stickers, since you also had to color most of them and the amount of coloring determined the extent of the power of the card, and in general they were more well-distributed in the overworld. It was actually a good game, if you consider it in general. However, The Thousand-Year Door is my favourite Paper Mario game of all time (if not my favourite Mario game), standing miles above the two I played of the new trilogy. I was hoping so much in a returning to the old style of Paper Mario, the stories, the unique characters, party members... and they did it with a remake that made me jump when I saw the announcement. This game is going to break records even though it's a remake.
This art style is perfect. Paper mario was always meant to look like a diorama, not exactly the overly paper-y cut/paste style that the recent games have had with the huge white outlines and all.
Honestly, Paper Mario the origami King was fire. My third favorite paper Mario game for sure. I mean the first two games just have a special place in my heart but origami King was awesome too. New fresh characters, emotions, story some cool game mechanics
I literally had a heart attack when I saw this. I still want Paper Mario 64 to get a remake. The new art style looks pretty cool and everyone has different voices this time. However, the music is getting me a little worried. Nintendo should just leave the music alone and stick with with the original versions. The real question is, what other changes are there? Like picking Yoshi's colors, replay bosses somehow, is there gonna be a playlist, or could Peach and Bowser become playable after you finish the game. That would be really cool, right?
With the majority of people hating or disliking the battle gimmicks from the last 3 paper mario games, i hope this wakes nintendo up to the idea that we don't need "new and innovating" mechanics like the stickers or cards or ring.
if ttyd succeed massively, gaining like 10 million, is a good start, it can paved the path for the future of paper mario, btw orgami king sold 3 million and color splash sold badly with below 1 million
I feel like Nintendo is finally putting some love into their rpg games. I really hope that Nintendo revisits the Mario and Luigi RPG series as well with a remake or new game.
I’ve been wanting to play The Thousand Year Door since I beat Paper Mario 64 on Switch Online, then subsequently beat Bug Fables to scratch that itch, and now I won’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new GameCube and a copy of the game. Hopefully next year gives us more GameCube remasters, such as Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was a Wii game.
I've been a fan of Paper Mario 64 since childhood. I never got to play The Thousand Year Door, but I always heard great things of it. Seeing it come back in full swing makes me excited for the future of the series and you bet I'm gonna be buying a copy of this game.
I love paper Mario. I did enjoy colour splash a lot, and origami king is actually really good. So I wouldn’t say the series was “saved” per se. Origami king sold well, and it deserved it. But I’m still stoked to see them going back to the one game I never had the chance to play! I think even fans of the origami king are still much happier to see Nintendo go back to its roots. (Still love origami king tho, had a lot of what I love in paper Mario, and it did have a handful of unique characters. Not many, but a couple) Overall, I love paper Mario the series. My attitude was that I’d much rather have colour splash and origami king than never getting a PM game again. But getting this? Waaaaaaay better. Super excited for this. Hope it does well! (With it being late in the switch’s life, I’m worried it might get missed by the public)
Yes they did. And I'm sure they could definitely do 64 and Super at some point. I really didn't enjoy the Origami King so I'm glad they took a step back and remade an older entry, because older Paper Mario is something special. I'm excited to see what this adventure will be like when it releases.
Many people did you aren't alone. People just love TTYD more in general. OK is liked by most of the fanbase, even loved, and CS couldn't really shine too much because of low sales thanks to the Wii U. Personally really disliked OK, CS looks fun but tedious because of the paint to fill cards thing, and SS was simple dumb fun.
I can't wait to get this, I missed all the Paper Mario games until I got a Switch and played The Origami King. I then got a chance at the original when the N64 app came out. I hope this is just the beginning. I'd like to see them all become available on Switch or Switch 2.
I don’t think saved is the right word. It’s not like the series was dying. It’s just that people didn’t like the new games but they sold well anyway except for color splash I guess but that’s not really fair cause it was on the Wii U (color splash is also the best of the modern paper Mario games imo)
I actually liked the post-TTYD games, I’d gladly play them all. The only one I’d definitely not play was the N64 original (was hoping they’d remake that one first).
Personally I've never played or even seen any gameplay of TTYD, but I'm excited to try it out. I played and enjoyed the first Paper Mario, and basically everyone says TTYD is even better so that really hypes me up. I just hope that there's still a chance we can also get a port of Super Paper Mario to the Switch. It's the one I grew up playing, and even though I know there are mixed feelings about it from fans of the first two games, I really enjoyed it a lot.
I never played sticker star or origami king, but I did play color splash, and tbh I actually really liked that game. Huey was actually a really funny side kick, and even tho Bowser is a very predictable villain, I liked the twist they did with him having been consumed by black paint instead of him just wanting to be a bad guy. Also the Pixelated world was really cool, especially the retro battle music. And the mirror world on the journey to the purple paint star is really cool, I loved those puzzles. Even the Bloo Manor was a really fun puzzle level in my opinion. At least Color Splash had a lot of memorable levels. And I haven’t even mentioned the music.. Port Prisma’s song is nostalgic even after just a few years.
Color Splash was practically the only Paper Mario game I've played. I'm a little sad about the fact that it was "bad." When I saw this in the direct, I was like "oh cool. Maybe I'll get to experience the "good" paper Mario finally"
If you still have your Wii U you can buy Super Paper Mario Wii, it's alsp a very good Paper Mario !! (there is also 64 on the virtual console but it has been closed sadly)
color splash improved upon sticker star, so it wasnt exactly a fail in my book, in fact its my favorite game in the series, because sticker star and it made up my childhood. The artstyle for this remake reminds me of the sort of "paper realism" color splash gave me.
Don't let others influence your opinion, yeah TTYD is a really good paper Mario game and is the best in my opinion, however don't feel bad just because you played the "bad" game. And color splash isn't a half bad game either, the only part I hated was finding the toads in the squad or whatever. If you had a good time with color splash, then don't be ashamed of it. The only people who will try to dictate your opinion are the people who don't like seeing people have fun with a game they didn't have fun with.
Kinda wished they did remake paper Mario 64 I love that game. I love the characters, environments, and style but I love the new games artstyle a lot more and love to see the og paper Mario in the new style. But that’s my opinion 🤷♂️
Hopefully Nintendo pays attention to how successful this is going to do (seriously, this is gonna sell) and uses it as an example of what fans want in the future.
I would love a Paper Mario remake, but it's on the NSO, so it's understandable for them to remake the classic GC game, because it's not easier to obtain nowadays. For somebody, who stopped playing newer Paper Mario games after making it halfway through Sticker Star. I'm happy for them to make one of my favorite RPGs and make it soooooo good looking. Here's hoping they listen for future games that we want it like TTYD.
This remake is coming out for its 20th anniversary, it will have come out 20 years ago in 2024. And out of the people you showed, besides you, the only two I know are Chuggaconroy, I watched his reaction earlier today, and Nathaniel Bandy, I didn't watch his reaction, but I know that he did one.
Color splash was my first introduction to the paper Mario series. It holds a very special place in my heart. Especially because of Huey. And I really enjoyed origami King. I will 100% buy thousand year door and I'm sure I'll love it. But I really belive at least the last two games were great! And I think you should give them a break. Especially for people like me who haven't played the older games
I have tried playing it and played a chapter or two but just fell off. Pm64 is one of my favorite games of all time and i can not wait to try this game again!!! I cant wait till sm64 hopefully gets a remake
I did notice that they’re treating this like a new game rather than a rerelease, when they could have called it “remastered” or “HD” or “deluxe” or “definitive” or something like that. They’re doing it with Super Mario RPG too. Something big is cooking.
1,000 YEAR DOOR remake artstyle is absolutely PERFECT. The THIN white outline (as opposed to the slightly too thick white outline in ColorSplash/OrigamiKing)? PERFECT. The perfect texture, the color, all the lighting and air…. ALL PERFECT to utilize as a long term art direction/art style, for a long run of Paper Mario games and merch. This EXACT artstyle needs to be utilized in the relaunches of at least a half dozen Classic 2d Mario games: But ALSO, the 2d remakes, will ALL feature the FLIPPABLE 2d/3d gameplay mechanic of the Wii’s critically acclaimed, cult classic “SUPER PAPER MARIO”. The art style has been revamped, the soundtrack has been remixed, the gameplay is likely to be just as good if not improved, and they even went the extra mile to add reaction animations and sprites for the npc’s and partners. I hope one day, SPM gets something like this too.
Hopefully the remake changes that.
I mean paper Mario 64 is basically like ttyd and that’s why I love this duology.
It's on switch though
I hope Switch 2 comes out.
They should release it along with Switch 2
In 2024
64 is on NSO, so it doesn't make sense to remake right now.
I am really looking forward to playing this game. To be honest, Origami King was technically the first Paper Mario I played and due to that, I will always stand by that game. I have been playing through the original Paper Mario on NSO and have been enjoying it. Now I can finally play RPG Remake and TYD Remake. 2023 has been an incredible year for gaming, lets hope 2024 is just as good if not better.
yeah origami king was an amazing game
@@prosylan6368Tanabe ruined Paper Mario
My favorite game is Color Splash, if you can you should try it
Even though Color Splash was my first Paper Mario, Origami King is my current favorite
Origami king was good too
I was watching you and Nathaniel, that was an awesome reaction! 😂 I’m so hyped for this!!!
Can we all agree that we need to unofficially call the “Refolded version”?
No
This game really caught me off guard compared to the other games during this direct, and I must say that it looks absolutely amazing!
The paper aesthetic for PM64 and TTYD also aged so much better over time than other games from those systems
Yeah ttyd kinda looks generic but the remake is the best art style in the franchise and 64 just has a charm that is unmatched.
@@voltron77 Do you people even know what "generic" means anymore these days?
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Don’t get me wrong, ttyd looks great, but it didn’t really lean in the paper aesthetic too much so I don’t really remember it’s art style when I think of paper Mario. Of course leaning too much in he paper aesthetic is bad either because of the stupid giant white lines but I really love how the remake looks because it blends both in this beautiful comic book artstyle and I really dig it.
Am I the only one bothered by the floor being so glossy?? The grass, the tiles, the stone, the battle stage, WHY IS THE GROUND SO SHINY?!?
Super paper Mario was really cool, and I loved sticker star. After that it got very weird.
I love sticker star if im being honest, its not like I want people to "recognise it's greatness!!!!" or anything I just like it.
One of my very favorite games as a kid. Can't wait for this release.
Paper Mario 64 is so good I love it and ttyd is the goat.
Finish 64 first and then play ttyd when it comes out.
Sticker Star was my first Paper Mario game and I really enjoyed it, but I understand the hate for it being VERY different from past games
It was also hated for being stripped of any unique characters like the Top 3 Paper Marios, I'm definitely getting A Thousand Year Door. :)
The more I watch these kind of videos, the more I LOVE how good it looks and to see new characters again!
This looks insane
20 years. Let that sink in
Thank you for telling people how important this is!
I kinda got lucky with the order I played the games in, so I was able to enjoy them all to the fullest, but I am so looking forward to finally being able to play the one missing game, this really does feel like the finale of Paper Mario for me
Bring back Super Paper Mario!
This means we might finally get the super paper Mario remake
I would love to see it
Super would look sooo satisfying in the Newly Redesigned High Def Art style. Almost too good, like visually competing with SMB Wonder good.
YES PLEASE. I need that masterpiece to FINALLY get more attention!
@@bjgray7954I'd somehow want bledo and tippi back, even if they're supposedly gone, they were always my favs
The Remake we were all waiting for and I hope this the future of the series.
Origami king was actually pretty good I loved it but I agree ttyd is truly the best paper Mario game hopefully this will lead up to a new paper Mario game with partners
The only thing I hated about that game was the combat system, the ring fighting just didn’t do it for me
I would love a Super Paper Mario remake.
I've never played any of the Paper Mario games before but you got me excited to play this one whenever it comes out!
Its a GREAT year, and time in general, to be a Mario fan.
Honestly, Paper Mario the origami King was fire. My third favorite paper Mario game for sure. I mean the first two games just have a special place in my heart but origami King was awesome too. New fresh characters, emotions, story some cool game mechanics
Bobby is the best character in the game he was soo good
I literally had a heart attack when I saw this.
I don't care about the TTYD. I've never played it but it's a turn based game, so I just hope we get remake of Super Paper Mario
Same
I wanted info about Prime 4 but got something much better.
How cool would it have been if they did a 3D all stars collection type game with the 3 original paper mario entries (remade, not a port).
8:46 Or, better yet, a children's _storybook_ . Remember. This is the sequel to what Japan calls _Mario Story_ .
Fun Fact: In Japan, TTYD is originally going to be called Mario Story 2 before they changed it to Paper Mario RPG.
Im part of the newer generation, and ive watched playthroughs of thousand year door so many times. Glad i get to experience it.
I know nothing of this game but oh my god I screamed so much when I saw this. It looks so good I hope they also remake the others as well!!❤
if ttyd succeed massively, gaining like 10 million, is a good start, it can paved the path for the future of paper mario, btw orgami king sold 3 million and color splash sold badly with below 1 million
I feel like Nintendo is finally putting some love into their rpg games. I really hope that Nintendo revisits the Mario and Luigi RPG series as well with a remake or new game.
There‘s a great Reaction of Domtendo, a German Nintendo RUclipsr😂❤ It‘s his Favorite Game of all time
I’ve been wanting to play The Thousand Year Door since I beat Paper Mario 64 on Switch Online, then subsequently beat Bug Fables to scratch that itch, and now I won’t have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new GameCube and a copy of the game. Hopefully next year gives us more GameCube remasters, such as Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was a Wii game.
The end was the best part of the entire video.😂
Oh you guys didn't hear? The new TTYD game has some changes, exp is now replaced with stickers!
Origami was good the others were bad though (the first trilogy still some of my fav games)
I've been a fan of Paper Mario 64 since childhood. I never got to play The Thousand Year Door, but I always heard great things of it. Seeing it come back in full swing makes me excited for the future of the series and you bet I'm gonna be buying a copy of this game.
Very happy to see Super Paper Mario not crossed out
I Was so HYPED at seeing this game when it was being revealed this morning, Now I would like GameCube controller support for this game!
Not many, but a couple)
Overall, I love paper Mario the series.
Am I the only one who actually liked Color Splash and Origami King?
No. I’m with you.
@@randomjar6934 thanks!
Many people did you aren't alone. People just love TTYD more in general. OK is liked by most of the fanbase, even loved, and CS couldn't really shine too much because of low sales thanks to the Wii U.
Personally really disliked OK, CS looks fun but tedious because of the paint to fill cards thing, and SS was simple dumb fun.
i find them ok but they have a major creativity issue.
They both have major game design problems
I'd like a super paper Mario remake next
I'd like to see it as part of a Paper Mario All Stars release.

Super Paper Mario was my favorite in the series. Change my mind.
Don't have too, just an objectively bad opinion
I can't wait to get this, I missed all the Paper Mario games until I got a Switch and played The Origami King.
I then got a chance at the original when the N64 app came out.
I hope this is just the beginning. I'd like to see them all become available on Switch or Switch 2.
We might get more Traditional Mario RPG once Ttdy and The first RPG sells good. Let's vote with our wallets!
Will it release at the beginn of 2024?
Nintendo, saved the Best story Mario game ever (Super Paper Mario)
Watch Bricks ‘O’ Brian’s reaction, he literally cried. He has such a connection to TTYD. 🎉❤
I’ll definitely be looking forward to playing this
I don’t think saved is the right word. It’s not like the series was dying. It’s just that people didn’t like the new games but they sold well anyway except for color splash I guess but that’s not really fair cause it was on the Wii U (color splash is also the best of the modern paper Mario games imo)
exactly it's like the people saying the series was dead they clearly don't know what dead means
I actually liked the post-TTYD games, I’d gladly play them all. The only one I’d definitely not play was the N64 original (was hoping they’d remake that one first).
@@sg-zd8eb
They have it on Nintendo Online. You can play it once you become a member.
HEY! I HAVE ONE THING THING: I DEFEND ORIGAMI KING!!
I cannot we finally got it
Personally I've never played or even seen any gameplay of TTYD, but I'm excited to try it out.
I'm a little sad about the fact that it was "bad."
When I saw this in the direct, I was like "oh cool. Maybe I'll get to experience the "good" paper Mario finally"
Thank you i loved colour splash

Origami King was rlly good tho, but idk if it was enough to save the funni paper series

Never played a paper mario game but have heard so much about this one... can't wait to have it. Nice video, thanks!
Saved?! Paper Mario Origami King, Color splash and even sticker Star for me were amazing.
But I am glad that so many people are happy about this.
Hopefully Nintendo pays attention to how successful this is going to do (seriously, this is gonna sell) and uses it as an example of what fans want in the future.
Fun fact: Sticker star was the last game where Mario wasn't a sticker (he didn't have the white outline)
Nintendo really did remember mario
He’s the official mascot, of course they remembered him!
This is what I’ve been wanting for so long!!! Nintendo made the wise decision of bringing back the best paper Mario game into life!
I'm reading this thinking TTYD is almost old enough to drink... danm, I'm getting old 😅
Color splash was my first introduction to the paper Mario series. It holds a very special place in my heart. Especially because of Huey.

He meant "Paper Mario" (N64).
I did notice that they’re treating this like a new game rather than a rerelease, when they could have called it “remastered” or “HD” or “deluxe” or “definitive” or something like that. They’re doing it with Super Mario RPG too. Something big is cooking.
As someone that grew up with Paper Mario sticker star I am excited to play PMTYD to see what's the whole hub Bub about😅

This EXACT artstyle needs to be utilized in the relaunches of at least a half dozen Classic 2d Mario games:
But ALSO, the 2d remakes, will ALL feature the FLIPPABLE 2d/3d gameplay mechanic of the Wii’s critically acclaimed, cult classic “SUPER PAPER MARIO”. In conjunction with some classic turn based combat; and even a few RING based situations at key points in the story.
Game list:
- SUPER PAPER MARIO BROS.
- SUPER PAPER MARIO BROS 2
- SUPER PAPER MARIO BROS 3
- SUPER PAPER MARIO WORLD
- SUPER PAPER MARIO WORLD 2: YOSHI’s ISLAND
Remaking these classic 2d games + 2d/3d Flip mechanic from SUPER PAPER MARIO + this TYD-Remake artstyle/engine =
The greatest remake SERIES in gaming history.
