the other thing people dont take into account is that all cars have got bigger, a cooper s is still a small car, just because its called a mini doesn't mean it has to be tiny

  • @ZappBranning

I have this very same car it’s my 8th mini and I can honestly say this is the best one yet I love it the fuel consumption for a 2.0 turbo I’m getting 47 mpg . The only downside of this car is the door pockets and the arm rest is fixed but could have been used for storage as the glove box is small inside. The Jcw due out soon will have an exhaust pipe sticking out but to be honest for the price and more bhp it’s not worth it this cooper S is a rocket 🚀

I’ve had my F66 2.0 cooper S JCW in legend grey with the 18” wheels about a month now and …….. It’s great fun absolutely love it !! It feels so well put together and is loaded with tech and cool features it’s got loads of power and great handling to keep you concentrating on the road 😂
My only gripes are the fact they have done away with the bonnet vent and centre exhausts which separated the cooper from the S ( shame)
    Very pleased with it

  • @OwenGT3

I love the new version, looks really nice. First saw it last year while at the factory on the tour. I'm now going to look at the ICE JCW version. Lets hope an updated F66 Bimmercode can turn off all the bings and bongs permanently, like you can with the F56. Also hope it would turn off the start/stop as well. I just wish they had upped the power of the JCW to around 250bhp as standard output, like they have upped the S version bhp. With all the references to the original Mini dash, I'm surprised they didin't replicated the original Smiths Mini speedo facia as an option on the oled, font style etc.

You said it all. Perhaps the best presentation for the F66 and thank you very much for that!!!
I had for 22 years as a daily car an R53 ( which I still love it) and now I am a happy owner ( 3 months and counting ) of a F66 Cooper C with jcw trim.
It's just perfect in any way. Perhaps the most beautiful mini and closest design ( despite the rear lights which I like it very much now cause I was a little sceptical at the beginning when I saw the first photos) to old mini.
Although I don't have now the S model the C is the best balance in speed, cost, fuel range and more than enough to do anything.
The interior design is more beautiful and with attitude, well build without noises and the tech is veeeery helpful now. It has the necessary physically buttons you need and the clima ( that aaaaaallllll mention without testing) is very easy and really, who the fuck are changing all the time the clima??? )
The only, ONLY, thing I will change is the exhaust.
Yes the price is up but nowadays unfortunately most cars are around 30K euros and they don't have, even close, the feeling that this mini gives to you.
I accept than will not be like to all but the most important is what I feel and I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!

Maybe if it had twin exhaust pipes, people would forgive the “new” look of the back.
Rear keeps reminding me of Clio Sport of some years ago - and I always liked look of that, so am not too troubled. Currently though, prefer the look of our 2023 JCW.
Thank you for pointing out the interior similarities with original Mini design and hence reasoning in current one. I learned to drive in a Mini (mid-70’s). Pleased that our Mini’s of today have a better driving position and steering wheel angle/position. Also, I like using the gear-selector lever for shifts in manual mode for a bit of traditional interaction when in the mood (I realise JCW is torque-converter rather than DCT, but that doesn’t make material difference to using the stick).
Not mentioned in review but worth noting that the electric Mini looks similar at back but is on a completely different platform, and has lost the wheel-arch trims to become much more plain looking at the side.
    Enjoyed your review btw, subscribed.

A cracking review Tom - well worth the effort you put in to make it 👌🏼 I’m still not convinced by the rear lights and to be fair it’s a bit out of my price range, but I’ve loved the R50, 53 and 55 models so there’s plenty of time to get one of these on the second hand market in years to come.

I do quite like the rear lights, and the back in general, despite the lack of a visible exhaust which is bizarre. In all it looks too much like a Chinese attempt at copying a Mini Cooper, which really isn’t great when it’s the genuine article.

@@TomShorrockhaving seen one in British Racing Green I completely agree. I don’t think black does the car justice, you loose that black bar between the lights which looks brilliant contrasted against a colour, and the back no longer looks huge. Mini’s are all about the details and the F66 is full of them; I particularly like the large lip on the top of the bonnet that seems to have grown from previous generations.

The U.S.-market "true" JCW model, available in Spring 2025, will develop 228 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The convertible will feature the more traditional tail lights; it and the 2-dr will feature an exposed, single tail pipe. The Countryman ALL4 will feature exposed quad tail pipes. No manual transmission will be available on any model. This data is available MINI's Web site.
I'm buying one, most likely a convertible. This'll be my last personal car. Thanks for the informative and entertaining review.

    I love this car.
This will soon be my first car. It's a shame that I don't have the Enigmatick Black paint anymore. I was wondering if the paddles were essential for the Cooper S? I prefer the Favoured finish, which unfortunately doesn't have the paddles behind the steering wheel.

Really great driving assistance and safety features, as front radar and cameras...but a big downside .. in Go-Kart mode ( or in any experience mode) , you do not have in the HUD the gear selected , so you have to look at the center big screen , and take your eyes off the road. Love my F56 Cooper s, but cant support what they're doing right now. In a few years when I look for a new car I will be looking at something else like a Miata. Planning to go fully electric, awful interior, cutting some trims (mostly the electric ones from the market in the states) it just looks like its all gonna be downhill from here for Mini, there sales are already down over 20% from last year and its obviously due to the wild unpopularity of the new generation.

I saw a review of this exact same car and also the convertible, and they both had the single exhaust pipe....having said that… why does every other review including yours show no exhaust pipe and also touches on the fact that it doesn't and that might be a problem for consumers. Just bought one, delivers in 2 weeks.
The reviewer jas a JCW trim, the real 231hp one (v 201?) Is a little late out.
My dealership had none to show me as supply is low. I test drove this and ordered the full JCW with exhaust and a little faster.
My 3rd mini, don't mind not test driving a full JCW tbh.
The real JCW has more HP and some other changes, suspension etc? Not sure.... but certainly has a single exhaust.

Hi, i really like your review. Im tottaly dissapointed by the new mini, im an R56S owner and seeing the new design i can only say...
Geee what on earth were the designers thinking? i can understand that they wanted to refresh and make it look sporty but where is the retro look that the mini always had? Where are those amazing window, lights etc etc switches? Where are the chrome details? Where is the "go faster" hole in the bonnet?
And specially for the EV where is the ability to hear even a fake engine sound like its available in the Ioniq? Even a fake one would be cool for this car, or even better if there was an option to upload "engine roar" sounds like heard on the turbocharged R56S!!!!

Lack of bonnet scoop and middle exit exhaust. Trademark Cooper S cues gone. And it still only has 200bhp? My R53 JCW has more power than that and it's over 20 years old now. What are BMW doing?

@TomShorrock you can put the essence of Gin in a Gin and Tonic, but it doesn't mean it's a G&T. Same with this Mini. The rear end is more akin to a Fiat than a Mini. And as for the Countryman, that's so far removed from what the Mini's original concept was about that it's laughable!

@@TomShorrock Too many people bitch about cars and make hasty comments… cars do change and evolve - but the mini really has been the same design language for years. The only real exterior difference is the lights (the rest are subtle. Even the exhaust pipe, companies are prepping the reality of electric car (automatic cars is another example).
