    Wow I don't know anything about sewing I only watched the video to learn what material were used because I was gonna get one made in memory of my dad who passed away from covid. Amazing! It turned out so cool! I’m currently working on a varsity jacket myself and was wondering if there’s an order to adding the ribbing on? Like cuffs then collar then waist, or is it done another way? Sorry if this is a dumb question I can’t wrap my head around it rn 😵‍💫

    • @DRoche7
      @DRoche7 Год назад +1

      Doesn't matter what order. Usually most pattern instructions will say the waist last uf you need to blind hand stitch at rhe end, but it literally doesn't matter as cuffs have nothing to do with collars which have nothing to do with the hem

    some things to change for the future. the welt pockets, don't sew a rectangle just the parallels first then flip them and sew the duck tails. (this removes the bulk you had. Also make sure to top stitch the edges around the jacket.

      I think they turned out well. What specifically was wrong on em?

    • @kaygee8343
      @kaygee8343 Год назад

      @@thetAlltAilor Hey Chad. Go to the 8:09 mark. "Do you see these two slashes?" is what you ask. Yep. I see 'em. Welt pockets are supposed to meet in the middle. Those don't. Not only do they not meet in the middle, the top welt overlapped the bottom one, making it difficult to stick ones' hand in the pocket since the pocket orientation was basically horizontal. Now, had it been the other way around, with the bottom welt slightly overlapping the top one, then (although it still wouldn't have been technically "correct" placement wise), it would have been easier to access the pocket. Still, a great job overall, my compliments on that. It troubles me a bit that you think the welts were ok, but as long as the client was fine with them, that's all that matters. No offense meant, btw. Although this is my first time watching your channel, I think that you're a talented and cheerful sewist. You got skills, dear.
