My heart aches for the veterans, but I'm very cynical and bitter about the West's entire involvement in Afghanistan. Please record this as a tragedy in history and acknowledge that the entire war was an irresponsible misadventure. We must learn from our mistakes. The world is not the West's empty stage. Each country has its own history and people and this fact must be respected.

The Taliban leader that is going to become President was released from prison by Trump in 2018, as part of the peace talks.
As you can see, the Afghan government was never at negotiations, because it was a puppet President.
Trump knew it would fail once we left, so he made the deal with the real political force in the country.

I am Indian and we are much closer geographically, historically and culturally to Afghanistan. Our Indian govt didn't think ever to mess into Afghan problem militarily and all govts in Afghanistan(Northern Alliance, Taliban and 20 years Democracy) have largely respected the non interference in their internal political/ethnic/religious questions. Instead India helps in helping Afghans through soft power. India trains their students, soldiers and players and also gives refuge, builds parliament, dams and institutions. We are not keen in changing the nature forcefully coz that doesn't work in South Asian subcontinent. Western Powers didn't realise that. Also they were lazy in changing the mentality and providing access to Afghans and thus were untrustworthy even after 20 years of presence.
I empathise with these veterans who thought that they were fighting on right side (which I too believe in) and can feel the sense of defeat and crushing feeling of unable to help their friends.
BUT I CAN SAY ONLY ONE THING TO THEM. THEY SHOULD FEEL HAPPY AND BLESSES TO GET OUT OF THAT HELLHOLE. THEY ARE LIVING IN A MUCH SECURED AND PEACEFUL COUNTRY OF THEIR OWN. THEY SHOULD THANK THE LORD DAILY!!

I'd recommend soldiers get into political activism the right way. Focus using your aggression to make positive changes in your community and the local and national government, so things like this never happen again. Choose not to follow the mainstream crowd and make an informed decision to vote for leaders who have empathy, strength, conviction, leadership and the smarts to see beyond politics to solve problems, and not creating new ones. Look at their past track history and do not ignore their mistakes they made. Otherwise if you elect a leader who has repeatedly failed? What makes you think they will suddenly make all the right decisions when they have more power to do so?

One of the reasons why the US withdrew from Afghanistan militarily and signed a peace agreement with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar, in February 2020.
Turkmenistan's natural gas reserves (the fourth largest in the world) may allow Afghanistan to become part of a regional energy trading network through the planned Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
The TAPI project has had regular support from Washington since the early 1990s, when the private oil company Unocal and the United States government began mapping the lines of a new gas pipeline on the map of Afghanistan. The TAPI would deliver natural gas from Turkmenistan to energy-hungry markets in Pakistan and India and Afghanistan would earn transit revenue.
In 1997, a consortium consisting of six companies and the Turkmen government was formed with the goal of building a 1,271-kilometer gas pipeline to Pakistan. India was not yet part of the plan. The majority of that consortium, 54 percent, was owned by the California-based Unocal Corporation.
In 1997, the American company even organized a trip to Texas for a high-ranking delegation of the Taliban for the negotiations, but the support of the Taliban for Osama bin Laden after the terrorist attacks against the United States put an end to that negotiation process.
In the first session of a new trilateral format between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and the United States in October 2020, all parties committed, among other things, to work together on the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan high voltage transmission power line. -Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP).
On January 3, 2021, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, embarked on a tour that took place in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar and Turkmenistan. According to a State Department statement, Khalilzad's goals included urging countries to pursue "plans to expand regional connectivity, trade and development, which will be assisted by an Afghan peace agreement and will help keep the peace".
Russia and China are maneuvering to participate in the eventual Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline given the high political profile of the project, and thus increase their influence over the TAPI member countries.
On February 6, 2021, with the support of the United States, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a meeting was held between the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the delegation of the Political Office of the Taliban Movement, led by the head of this office, Molla Abdul Ghani Baradar.
Both parties agreed to carry out the following projects: the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan high-voltage electricity transmission lines (TAP) and fiber optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route. -Pakistan, as well as the railways that will connect Turkmenistan with Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is expected to buy 16% of the gas, which is close to 5.11 bcm. The Taliban government will receive USD $ 400 million a year as a gas pipeline transit fee.

The skull at the car is from the DC-Comics character "The Punisher" (also at 0:30). This is not a symbol of the far right.
Some people don't get the cynical dark humor of the series. Reason might be that it is entertainment for grown ups, so self-reflected, responsible people who can distinguish fiction from real life.

"Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”

This is what happens when you do things without clear objectives and move the goal post every now and then. As usual I have to blame the politicians and the big wigs for being to ambitious and adventurous without considering the history of the region.

do they really need a reason or meaning for a mistake, we don't need 1 mistake become never ending mistakes, acknowledging the mistake is the fastest way out.

Much respect for the soldiers. It must be distressing to see their Afghan comrades suffer...but I can say one thing...their efforts did and still do matter. As someone who has lived through a bomb attack in my city...I have to thank every brave soldier who puts their life in the line of fire to save ordinary people from terror mongers. You will always matter and you will always be respected 🙏

Veterans are a closed society and peer to peer counseling is a good approach 👍. NATO responded after the 9 11 attacks to remove the Taliban regime who hosted the Al Qaeda jihadis in training camps. The Bundeswehr performed bravely and proved their competence in combat. The active deployments were ended in 2014. The IS movement focused in Iraq took the attention. The US stopped taking casualties after the February 2020 peace treaty. The Afghan National Security force of 330,000 have been fully supported by the US taxpayer. In a trust through 2024. We can not pay the taliban legally. This includes courts and public institutions funding. What happens now? A famine looms in Afghanistan. Maybe the will to give them air support will emerge from NATO. Lead the way guys. Like Libya. Get some.
