I'd say either destroyed like you said... Or maybe they were told to go back home since Gondor is there and thinks "we're powerful... So we don't need help thanks~ you guys just go home and chill..." And so saruman never noticed the people of Rohan go back to their homes cuz wormtongue was always with him during the battle of the hornburg... Until his sad death

@@PopeJohnPaul I think I know what happened in more detail so the people of Rohan were probably trapped in Edoras and died there while the Gondorians made their way up through enedwaidth and came through the lower territories of isengard and found the elves at the mountains heading to the hornburg and they joined alongside the Elves and headed to the hornburg but were then attacked by isengard while inside
I enjoy this... love to see bad guy win the battle.
