Diploma Audio Engineering student here.. This is one of the better reviews I've watched & I'm about to buy myself a pair of these from this to add to my home studio setup and it will be my first pair of Studio Monitors. To anyone also flaming over him saying he's a self taught studio engineer - one of my tutors at my University is a self taught Audio Engineer of 20 years before he eventually studied Audio Engineering for his Degree, there are also many great studio engineers and audio engineers (especially live sound engineers) that are self taught and have learnt purel by doing, and by doing I mean over thousands and thousands of hours of tinkering and figuring out what everything was before everyone had the accessibility to know that (I.e before birth of the net) Those who were around in the early ages of engineering where there was not many or any official tertiary or university studies offered in the area of audio engineering until most likely the 80's-90's, it was all self taught and sitting infront of the speakers they had purchased for hours and hours learning how to use them properly and eventually know how to fine-tune their systems with audio in mind. Sound subjectively is something you can only improve on and learn better by doing in the sense it's mostly practical in what you are hearing or thinking about attenuating/adjusting/cutting/boosting in the frequency spectrum, there is a study for it but you can be a self-taught engineer yes absolutely, but the education does help with surrounding yourself in total knowledge of music. Also to anyone flaming on him posing for a shot, you are all ridiculous get over yourselves so what if he wanted to add a shot of himself on a video he put hours of his own time into. Big up Hi-Tech Resource, thank you for the detailed video.
Same boat. Studying adv dip, looking at these for my first proper studio monitors. This is one of those industries where the experience can be more important than the study
Well said, I have a 4 year degree in Business it's not until I started working in supply chain, IT and e-commerce, to which I am self taught in e-commerce "learned on the job" that allowed me to build my own business today. Expertise comes from daily trial and errors. Don't need a diploma for a lot of things especially if that person is passionate in that field. There are many people who has a diploma and aren't applying what they suppose to have learned. Big props @hi-tech resource
I have watched dozens of channels like this over the past few weeks and this one is by far the best. The level of detail and articulate explanation along with excellent quality visuals make this video top notch. How has this channel not grown?
I can't believe that in a review of a monitor the loudness of the entry music is so extremely loud compared with the rest of the video, you should check that, pro audio should be pro!
Hey, did they have presonus logo sticks with them? Its important can people that had presonus eris5 reply? Did all get them? I have feeling that an official shop sold me second hands as new ones
You are pleasant to listen to and you give good information. A major thing that ruins the whole video for me is all the close-ups, especially when it goes from blurry to sharp while moving sideways. It is extremely unpleasant to watch.
Great review...…...except for the mostly out of focus camera work! Its very uncomfortable to watch. Perhaps try the irritating shaking camera method as well.
Really enjoyed the review and I can not wait to get these! Love how much effort you put into your video even if you dont have all the subscribers in the world! Shows how hard working you are!
This makes me long for a concept album of spoken word reviews of random items - including some consumer feedback with emotion ;) I LOVE the mix of dialog and music in this review.
Great detailed review. Can you give me a tip? Just got a pair of E5 XTs and I connect them through an unbalanced TS to XLR cable which the store I bought them from bundled with the monitors. My interface is the Scarlett 4i4 which has balanced outputs, so should I ask to replace them with balanced cables instead? The store seller told me at 1.5m theres really no difference, and I dont hear any noise or distortion, but should I bother just for peace of mind? Thanks.
Great Review Nick!! NO B.S just the facts. You are 100% right I own these also and my mixes translate very well on the end user side be it vinyl or digital medium. These are PRO MONITORS and in my studio I have Macke Big Knob ( passive) and my second pair of monitors are vintage EV Sentry 100a's (passive) powered by a Hafler amp and with this setup, I can get the same professional results the big houses get. You're right again buying these is a "no brainer".
They cut out all the tuning options in the new E5 version. This is not a flat frequency and they actually have hiss (even with high quality balanced cables). Just be aware. These things are horrible and I'll be returning immediately.
I recently bought the Eris E5 and tried one, but while it was playing I pushed a so-called AC select switch to the other side and then there was a loud bang and then the speakers stopped working. Can i fix anything there?
Nice review! You could say I'm a audio enthusiast that's always tight on budget. I've had them for a year now as speakers for my PC in a less than optimal setup, using a simple M-Track HUB as an audio interface (I just fell in love with that huge retro volume knob and it's pretty affordable on top of it ;). I have a vintage Pioneer Hi-Fi system (SA-8500 II) with a SMSL Sanskrit 6 as DAC and a pair of Beyerdynamic 990 pro 80Ω cans to compare them to. And oh boy I have to admit, except for the really low end (the vintage amp got custom made 3-way boxes with an 10" low end and the Beyerdynamic cans go down to theoretical 5 Hz) they manage to surpass those two with ease! Edit: And the possibility to add a (balanced of course) subwoofer of my choice is a huge plus for me as a passionate gamer (I don't miss that for music but games and movies got noticable more "oomph" with my headphones)
Well, just finished watching my first video from this channel. Must say "Well Done"! Many RUclipsrs will gloss over a review and you went over each feature quite well in my opinion. I'll have to look at what else this channel may have to offer. Was just looking for a simple studio monitor to do some occasional 'voice over' for home videos and believe this review may have solidified my opinion on the PreSonus Eris E5 Thanks
We’re all about paying attention to details here at Hi Tech Resource, and we appreciate you taking your time to check us out! We offer a link in the description to link you directly to the speakers. Have a good one!
Thanks a lot :) You say it's MDF, so made out of wood right? Just to be sure ;) I want to connect 2 of these to my laptop via its Jack port and wonder which way would you think is the best to connect them?
Thanks fo the review, it's really techy and profesisonal. Could you please also advise on the input cable types or maybe even some specific brands? And actually, which cabling is optimal for such studio monitors? TRS vs XLR, which one is better in use?
Im so glad you showed the playing of a racing game. I am wanting 4 of these monitors (2 front, 2 rear) along with 2 x temblor 10" subs for my full racing sim 😀 After seeing your vid, im definitely going to order them 😀😀😀😀😀
Many thanks for amazing video Plz help , I have this speakers ,my problem is after some time work , I found it very very very hot from back of speakers , what's can I do , it is normal or what
Hey there! great review! I would like to buy a pair of them for my stage piano just for playing purpose in a small room and I would like to ask your advice: - First, if you recommended these monitors for stage piano. - Second, if they accept pro line output +4 dBu, if yes, if the all three inputs that they have got accept pro line output +4 dBu. - Last, considering that my stage piano has got 2x 1/4" TS outputs, which cable connection would you recommend? Thanks a million!
Love these for mixing! they are my only speakers so i am wondering, do you think it would create a more enjoyable listening experience when paired with a sub?
A sub is not necessary in my opinion unless what you're mixing /listening is bass heavy. I have them paired with a Temblor T10 and find myself bypassing the sub for certain genres.
Man thanks a lot dude, perfect video and nice background tune! I just got these today and they sound great. I'm wondering how to set the controls so I can mix music. I decided to set it to flat since I heard that is what you want for mixing and Acoustic space I set to -4db. I wonder if I should mess with mid and bass and how to make those decissions. I am a 47 year old who has been trying to become the best home recorder I can. For the past 5 years or so I have been studying this stuff via youtube vids etc. I play mostly rock metal and some acoustic stuff. Thanks again!
This isn't a review. There was no mention of what they sound like. No comparison to others. You just listed specs and features with no commentary about what they mean or do or how that translates into mixing. This stinks of paid product placement ,or at least just reading off presonus' own description to link an affiliate link in comment.
probably a late reply, but I would suggest an audio interface like a scarlet solo for example (good for your headphones too). The interface has two outputs which you would connect to the monitors via RCA, TRS or XLR. Then you just need to connect your ipod or phone, etc to the input of the interface and you're good to go
Please take note that most of the reviews you watch on you tube are paid reviews or been given the product for free so they always say how great they are. That's not to say these speakers are not great of course its just that they are biased reviews.
such a worrying review, and comments. Talk about overkill on compared products and price range. Only one video uploaded on the channel and all the comments perfectly timed after it was launched. These speakers are so good there is about 16 different listings on on Ebay right now without 1 bid on them.
Nice review. What do you think about JBL LSR305? I want to buy a speakers but I can´t choose between Eris or JBL. One thing I definitely like more on Eris is apperance and size but sound is the most inportant for me. Thank you.
Well, now I have money for these speakers, but I'm still not sure... Eris E5 are about $100 more expensive than JBL. Is it still worth it to buy E5? Same goes for Yamaha, also $100 more expensive.
Damn these speakers are nice, but I'm hesitating between this one, the Mackie mr524 and the krk r5g4. I'm gonna use it to mix and just make music, because I make hip hop music, I like a good bass and punch! Can someone give me some useful advice?❤

Does it come in pair or you only get one Speaker ?
or does it come with 2 Speakers?
@@KoolPizza_Awsome Depends if you buy a pair or only one 🤣

I can't believe that in a review of a monitor the loudness of the entry music is so extremely loud compared with the rest of the video, you should check that, pro audio should be pro!
Bought these in January 2017, and I totally agree with you - these are fantastic speakers for the money.
Isnt the krk rockit 5s better? And the same price range
NDA Tech I don’t think they’re better
Just ordered the Gen2 versions. Can't wait to hear them
Came for the speakers......stayed for the posing :-)
Great review! Ordered them after your review and I can't say enough about this monitors! Absolutely stunning! Thanks for letting me make this choice!

Can I connect my Arturia drumbrute directly without a usb audio interface?
Dude, I don't know what you did but you were talking in such a rhythm that it sounded like you're rapping, dayum.
Hi.. what does it mean for a speaker to be 2way... Does it mean it comes as two separate speakers in its pack?
i'm on studio one, i got a Presonus Audiobox, and i gonna by the Eris E5
I'm a presonus fan now :D
can i add a subwoofer with them?
You can indeed the PreSonus tremblor T8 is a good subwoofer

How can I connect 2 e5 together?
I’ve been looking at them do they have good bass? I love monitors with bass, I’m trying to shake my table with these

Kali Audio has dip switches to accommodate different listening environmental factors. Have you peeped dem out yet?

nice man! some say that eris e5 make a hiss noise when is quiet, from amp or whatever.. is that true??
That's caused by power cable.
can they be use for kareoke?

Any hum/buzz?
hey does each speaker have its own individual power plug or does only one have it and they both connect to eachother?
Thanks for the review 🙏 I’m convinced this would be my first monitor
Hey!
I’m about to get the Presonus E5 paired with a wireless Bluetooth DAC which only has RCA outputs. What is the best way to connect these up?
They have RCA inputs and I believe that you can hook up multiple inputs

How do you feel about buying used speakers? They have a pair of these eris 5's for $200 used on the guitar center website and other sites.
Hey man, do you use a stand for these? There is no screw hole at the bottom of these and I can't find stands that can be used with these
Can you plug a echo dot into the aux in on front as a 2nd device?
Can it connect to a turntable?

Swissonic ASM5 and ASM7 have the acoustic features as well
Why no volume knob on Eris 5?
You know what would help if someone connected them up

Very good review thank you. I just got my E5's
Aldo cabrera i got the e5 xt’s
8:18 What brand is this pad?
krk rp5 vs presonus e5 ,which one is better at EDM producing ? i'm using pioneer dm-40 now
there's not much of a difference between the two. But I would go in for the Pre Sonus E5 any day.

Why do so many products feature blue LEDs, they're so distracting. PCs and phones have Blue Light filters built in for a reason.

Hi-Tech Resource hi
nice video..how would you rate Presonus e8 for far field listening also as studio monitors. thxs
OMG, isn't he beautiful?! And he did so well reciting his text! I just have to buy these speakers...🤩
Great review! I am torn between these and the 3.5.
And thank you for having a script! Great video!
Get the E5 or E8. You can also add the Temblor T10 or T8
The E5 are way better than the tiny 3.5
Me: this looks Orlando AF

Real recognize real 😂 I wonder how these differ from the new 2nd gens that just came out 🤔
nice little tv intro bruh
The entry music is ear rape. Warning.
