Something people new to the game might not immediately notice: the "Melding" cluster (that is the energy shield and life hybrid cluster directly right to the witch starting point for those not familiar with it) is a popular combination with the energy from within jewel for a large boost to ES. Recent changes make it worth paying closer attention to it. If you are new to building ES characters, don't have the points to take every ES node available on the tree or dont plan to, because your build is slightly different, please read the following completely and dont skip paragraphs: With the recent changes to the jewel and how the cluster was nerfed several times in the past (now has a maxiumum increased %es of 6%), one must reevaluate the opportunity cost. Essentially you gain a maximum of 6%+3x(3%+5%)+1x(6%+10%)=40% increased energy shield for a five point investment. Four points for the cluster, 1 point for the jewel slot. Just taking the regular ES nodes in the witch starting area down from the notable "Deep Wisdom" gains you 38% increased energy shield for the investment of 4 points. With an additional 1 point for the jewel socket you would potentially gain a 4 property jewel with 3 offensive stats and up to 8% es. Thats, not considering the insane dmg per point value, 46% energy shield in comparison. You also gain direct access to additional 36% energy shield for 3 points which again are insane value per point invested. The price for energy from within jewels has seen a stark increase since its rarity was changed in the recent patch. As of the time of this post it is around 120 chaos orbs (In SC Legacy). You get at least a very good 3 prop, if not a 4 prop jewel for that much. So, to summarize: If you take either the "Melding" cluster or the nodes above and below "Deep Wisdom", the later are by FAR the superiour choice.

I find that I level using RF to. I would not recommend it for newer players, though with flask management its really easy. Health pots and ruby flasks let you heal with RF on. It will spead up leveling super quick. You can also use that shield with the 2% regen to help.

Extra info for easy reference: Leo's crafting mod for reducing damage taken from Damage over Time ranges from 10% to 20%. It costs 3 chaos orbs per try and Leo must be at least Level 3. It is only applicable to shields, bows and 2H weapons.
I recently made a lowlife RF build (made it in a day) roughly 14 hours gametime played. this helped so much. Well made pohx. Best fun i've had in awhile with a character.
I usually mix my RF build (something like yours) with scorching ray, as it allows me to keep Increased AoE and Conceffect and to push my effective dps around 50% to RF and 50% to SR, Path of building says 300k to SR on 5 link and 300k to RF against shaper/guardians, so it's good and strong enough. Which in turn makes me able to clear all content fast and easy, as RF alone is so good on clearing trash while SC is a good boost on singletarget bosses, since the SR makes bosses resistances drop in top of EE and flammability curse (and witchfire potion ofc). Also keep in mind you don't have to spec into devotion talent as you can just use conqueror's potency unique jewel to have that +3% aura effect to get the same rounding. So you don't have to waste so many skillpoints to go that far.
The thing is, devotion grants 30 str, aura effect and the life which actually is scaled to add damage ontop of my ES along with giving a bit of armor. It's really not as bad as it seems. Also I've done all content with just pure RF and it seems fine to me personally but everyone is free to play it differently !
Heh yeah well, using SR also has a minor drawback. It makes the socket space very difficult to manage, so using at least one unset ring (like the pariah for budget) feels mandatory and maybe +2 to fire gems ES shield (or something) to make sure I wouldn't need to use empowers anywhere else than on vertex to hit those 23lvl purity gems. Realistically I don't need 23 purity of Lightning to anything endgame but to make the shaper really faceroll, i like maxing the purity of ice too. Despite the needed socket space it still doubles my damage when I can stand still and beam, so shaper and others feel ezpzy and fast enough after that. Maybe try that someday, as RF ~60% more spell dmg and another 30% from pain attunement really scales the SR up! :)
Hey pohx, I probably commented on the wrong video considering you just asked what kind of content we'd like to see. I'd love a guide on how to play trappers(or miners). Could be anything from playstyle, damage scaling tips, levelling or whatever you'd like to share. I usually rip while levelling and think I'm just going about them wrong...
If you want you can actually run RF at level 24 with a Springleaf shield, Shaper's Seed, Kikazaru and ruby flask and 34 with a stone golem (using Primordial Eminence helps a lot) but switching to low life is much more difficult. level 50 for easiest switch using Immortal Flesh
I'd love to see a league stone analysis- which ones are best for XP, which ones for loot drops, etc. Is Perandus more lucrative than Breach? Does Bloodlines give more XP than Beyond? Is Talisman not a huge waste of time?

i was annoyed that when ranged mobs/ mobs that keep distance surround you, you still have to walk in a circle to kill them and cant concentrate on the movie thats running on the other monitor, so I tried using vaal cyclone and that fixed it ರ◡ರ
with a mindset of being in SSF what would be your objectives with this build , I.E chancing copper plate for solaris lorica / shavronne , without them would you still go RF ( no LL obviously ) , or keep doing the summoner thing until you do get a solaris , also the vertex helm is it an absolute necessity ?
legit I don't play ssf and it really depends on what drops or what you can farm. Solaris lorica or Capped chaos res definitely required or near max chaos res. You can drop an aura if need be definitely get chayula for stun immunity as for leveling do as you wish because as I stated i'm not ssf
been following your guide with the SRS been pretty solid , zombies are just meat shield they do nothing to help beside that ... wish they'd buff the agro range on zombies to make them more useful tbh and if they did buff them , wow i don't see a difference lol, Side note yeah i think i'll drop SSF for this character , i really want to play it but alot of items and gems / jewels that are dependant for the build to work unfortunatly
How are you getting so much ES? I was calculating if I could switch from life to es for my rf guy, but was working it out to be 4kish with more es gear than you have. I've just realised I was forgetting about that guardian node that gives reserved mana as es, but that would still put me around 5-6k? Are the mana jewels doing that for you?

Fair. Ill probably end up copying the 99 jugg in LHC. Seems far cheaper/easier to setup and level. Don't think the damage will be much lower considering doriani 130% ele damage. It's also potentially better at mapping with doriani attack speed and the most annoying mods like temp chains/chilled ground doing nothing to jugg. Still great informative videos and demonstrations. If i had the time/currency to put in id roll guardian.
How are you able to reserve 2 auras on your life? Never used blood magic on auras before but I can only get one of my 2 auras (discipline and purity of fire) to fit on my life pool. Got all the aura nodes on the tree that you have and they're also in a vertex
Pohx ain't using Blood Magic node though. Vertex gives +1 to the enlighten (reduced mana reserved) and Blood Magic gem itself, also reducing the mana reserved. And I guess he has some in the tree, but I am too lazy to check rn. +1 level to enlighten and blood magic is, as mentioned in the vid, the thing that makes this possible.

you are missing like 60% inc ES from the tree in comparison to pohx also hes has the %es on belt and ring which scales well with the insane flat ammount guardian gets if you just get the % es craft on your rings and keep on lvling a bit (pohx is 10 lvls ahead of you) you will easily overtake his es total with your kind of gear
oh yes you are right, i did not see that it is so much ES difference on the tree, so i have to deal with it for now, because i want to get dualcurse first

play a summoner, use Summon raging spirits and zombies. respec at level 70+
Are you having to use Sextants to maintain your Shaped Strand pool, or are you just chiseling+alching & running with leaguestones?
Chisel alch strands, use 1 white sextant if you want. I save all the others for my shores or sell them

Life ≠ Low Life. You would have to go look up a guide but I can assure you, you won't deal anywhere near the damage as my character

Solaris Lorica has the same mod that Shav's have - Chaos damage does not bypass energy shield. The downside is that it has no ES.
He put text on the screen for the whole video that answers this question. Solaris Lorica was used instead. Budget version of the same thing.

He leveled mainly as a summoner up to maps, then changed to aurabot along with friends for map shaping.
I don't like respecing much, so i was looking for skill that can follow RF tree in some way
Scorching Ray i think its the best, doesnt need that much scaling just gem levels.
I did it with firestorm with no problems, I only respected like 5-9 points, which you pretty much get just by getting to Maps. I switched to RF at 65.

RF degen damage is not spell damage (degens are never spell damage except Essence Drain and Vortex)
