Was considering buying the 10-24 as I already have the 16mm F1.4, 18-55, the 16-55, the 55-200 and the Viltrox 33mm F1.4. So wanted an "ultrawide" lens as I mostly shoot landscape and architecture. When I heard about the new version, I held off to see what the result would be. Was hoping it would be a bit sharper and closer to the 8-16 which is much sharper in the corners. Either way, probably getting the Mk2 as adding WR is a big deal for me as where I live it's raining a LOT and I'm next to the sea. Wales, UK. So having a WR lens with my X-T1 and X-T3 is a very reassuring thing.
@@Reggiebphoto I'm sure the optics are fine, I've just been spoil with my 16mm F1.4 and the red badge 16-55. They are incredibly sharp. Near magical levels of sharpness. I'm a bit of a pixel peeper and those lenses never disappoint. I think in an ultrawide to get that, I'd have to go 8-16 but I don't want a lens I can't put a filter on easily. Plus I want the OIS. It might be the OIS is actually harming the sharpness on the 10-24 as some have suggested.
Yeah my aooroach is to not compare lenses to each other as they have different strengths and weaknesses. If you want 16 1.4 sharpness then reach for the 16 1.4 and don’t try to force the 10-24 to mimic it,
@@Reggiebphoto Wise words. Otherwise I'm spending £1699 on a lens (8-16) which is more than my camera cost. When a lens less than half that price will be fine and use what I have already. I could buy an X-T4 for less than the 8-16 lens. As a hobbyist photographer, it's not justifiable.
I just bought the original 10-24mm so had to watch this video to find out what I missed. I had the same issues you described with the old one, perhaps will try to sell it.
but how are the optical specs, like lens flair control, CA, distortion, focus breathing, Vignetting.. i shoot landscapes and i am interesting what fuji done with already awesome lens to make it even better :)

A very enginious design on this is tha A-lock, I really miss this on other lenses, don't know why there isn't?? I also have the 16-80 zoom, wich is a WR lens, but when i went to the Beach, even on a calm day with no flying sand and no contacts with sand what so ever, the lens zoom started to feel contaminated with sand 👎👎 I had to vacuum the lens to Git it to work propably again! Thats not a very good sealing to me!
I am considering trading or selling my 16-55mm f2.8 Fuji lens for this lens or put the money towards the 8-16mm f2.8 ,what do you think,I love low light but I really need a wider than 16mm f1.4 for buildings and close range crowd shots in the midst of crowned dance floors or parades/protest

I was hoping for improved optics too, but I never had anything to complain about with the original optics. Totally understand your sentiment

Yup just do what you feel is worth it. Sometimes even gear you have is already probsbly good enough. Just do what makes you happy 😊 I support it

The only thing I would use 2.8 and higher on a wide angle is for Milky Way and night star scapes. That’s about it...

As long as you can rock daylight shooting or flash it works. I never shoot wider than 16 at large aperture so the 10-24 fits the bill
