- In this video, I reviewed the NEW Fuji 10-24mm f4 R OIS WR, my wide-angle Fuji lens. I compared it with the old Fuji 10-24mm R OIS model.

Two are the lenses I always use in landscape photography, one is the Fuji 50-140mm f2.8 that I also reviewed here on my channel. And my second go-to lens is for sure the beloved Fujifilm 10-24mm f4 which the new 2021 MKII Model has been restyled with the additional Weather Resistant feature.
I made a full comparison with the Fuji 10-24mm f4 WR vs the old model Fuji 10-24mm OIS.

You and Andy Mumford are like twin brothers. Just realized you do work together and share adventures. And provide great representation of landscape photography using Fujifilm.
Hi Al, thanks so much for the comment. Andy and I don’t work together anymore. Anyway, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Thank you for the very highly produced video. Amazing photos by the end as well. Subscribed
Hi, awesome! Thanks so much for subscribing and really glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Bravo!! Multo ben’ fatto! Very good very informative review. Thorough, to the point, leaving us much better informed than when we started. That is the gold standard for RUclips gear channel reviews. I also appreciate the balance between Capture1 & LR. So often one hears that Capture1 is better in every respect. Allora, grazie mille!
Hi Joseph, thanks so much for the nice comment, I very much appreciated it. I'm glad you understand the finesse about Capture One vs Lightroom, there is not an overall winner or loser. Ciao e alla prossima :)
Excellent review Andrea. Loved the presentation and points covered. Helped me to decide which way to go in future!👍🇦🇺😎
Hi Stephen, thanks so much for your positive feedback, really glad you've found the videos useful :) Ciao
Thanks for this review, greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much, Istvan! Glad you enjoyed the review :) Ciao
thanks for the review! I just ordered the lens and subscribed to your channel... 👍 your photos are stunning!!!
Awesome! Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and I'm pretty sure you'll have a lot of fun with your new lens :) Ciao
Thanks for the great review and images, I just purchased it for my X-T4!
Dalip Singh Thanks so much, Dalip! Glad you enjoyed the video. The X-T4 is a very good purchase :) Ciao
Andrea - so happy I stumbled upon your channel. Your videos are succinct and your outlook/tips are unique in a space where there isn't much of that anymore. Thank you, and nice work! One question for you: your videos (especially here) have a great aesthetic/look. It looks like you're shooting on your X-T4 as well. Would you mind sharing a little about your video shooting modes/profiles, and any basic corrections/LUTs you use in post? The production quality in your videos is incredible!
Hi Dan, thanks for your comment and glad you liked the video. All the videos on this channel were shot with the X-T3 and the X-T4. The settings are pretty simple: f-log, 24fps, 200mbit/s. For color correction, I use the native Fuji LUT Eterna (downloadable from the Fujifilm website) to convert the log video to standard Rec.709, and I apply some basic adjustments with the curves for color correction and a second layer of curves + HSL for color grading. My process is very simple for the content I upload to RUclips. What makes the aesthetic of this particular episode even more pleasing is the light. That afternoon, the light was beautiful, and that makes a big difference in the final result. Everything falls into place very easily :) I hope this helps you. Ciao
Excellent review, thank you!
Hi, thanks so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video review! Ciao :)
Very helpful lens review, Andrea. Last year I purchased the original Fujifilm 10-24mm and am learning how to use it properly. This video tutorial really helps... thank you!
Thanks so much, Tom. Glad you enjoyed the video. The 10-24mm first edition is still a great piece of glass. Ciao
Excellent and practical comparison. Nice.
Thanks so much, Sundar! Glad you enjoyed it :) Ciao
Another excellent video Andrea! Looks like a great lens, but I think I'll be keeping the old one for the time being!
Hey mate, thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciated it! Yeah, the "old" model is still a killer lens. The new main WR addition is not for sure a deal breaker for every photographer. Hope you're doing well, man. Ciao :)
Amazing video dude! Some beautiful scenery too!
Thanks so much, Daniel! Glad you enjoyed the video. Ciao :)
Great review Andrea and cracking shots Andrea!!! As a person with the great Samsung 12mm as my widest lens, I think the new 10-24mm is definitely on my radar.
Thanks so much for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the video! I used the Samyang 12mm a few times, and it's not a bad lens at all. Something that never sat right with me was contrast & saturation in my final images. It works in a very different way than the Fuji 10-24mm. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad, what I mean is that besides the 2mm difference at the wider focal length, these two lenses are quite different in color & contrast reproduction. Ciao :)
Ciao Andrea!
Great video. Its exactly what I was looking for. Great info.
Grazie Mille, Ciao!
Beautiful photos @Andrea! Thank you for the information on the Sunburst!!!
Grazie Mille, Ciao!!!
Hi Ranelle, you're very welcome. Thanks so much for the comment and I'm really glad you found the video helpful. Ciao :)
Awesome review... easily among the best!
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the video! :) Ciao
Really good review, thanks for the comparison of the two lenses. And beautiful pictures you took. The one taken in this kind of ice cave is absolutely brilliant! Got a new follower!
Hi Florian, thanks so much for your nice comment and for subscribing. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video & my photos. The ice caves are one of the most amazing experiences I human being can have :) Ciao

Very interesting video Andrea & lovely images
Thanks so much, Manu! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Some nice shots there. good job.
Thanks so much! :)
Beautiful images towards the end of the video!
Glad you enjoyed the images, thanks so much :) Ciao
Nice review Andrea! I currently have the XH-1 with 50-140 and i'm strongly concidering buying the 10-24WR :)
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video. The X-H1 is a lovely camera and paired with the 50-140mm looks like a nice combo. About the new 10-24 WR, it's absolutely wonderful. Ciao :)
Great in-depth review! Are you planning to review the new 70-300 when it's out?
Thanks so much, Litheon! Glad you enjoyed the video. The 70-300’s review is in the roadmap 😉 ciao
Great video thanks! Sounds like a lens I should own. I see that Ibanez back there. Are you a Satriani fan? I go to every show when he's in town.
Hi Clint, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. If you're thinking about a new versatile wide-angle zoom lens, with an excellent optical quality, the 10-24mm is a real bargain.
Good catch, awesome! The baby on the wall is an Ibanez Iron Label but I also have a JS1000 model (1997). Yeah, Satriani is my guitar hero, I know every single note he played in his albums. Nice to know you love Mr. Satch! :) Ciao \m/
Great video, subscribed.
Thanks for the sub, Carlos! Glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Nice review Andrea! I just started shooting with this lens and your talk about the "sweet spots" of f5.6-f8 are very helpful. Do you prefer editing these files with C1 or Lr? Thanks!
Hi John, thanks so much for your comment and glad you found the video useful. I use both software for editing my RAF files, but the cleanest input sharpening you can have is with CO. Lightroom is not so far from it but not as good as its competitor, even using the Enhance Details function, which helps but it's not definitive. Ciao :)
Very well done Andrea!
Cheers, Leo! Ciao pianista spaziale 🚀😄
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Ciao Andrea!
thank you Andrea for another great review and comparison, it was great to see Passo Valparola again :) What I have found out with this lens is, that it is worth of focus on the very edge of the screen at 10mm focal length to get sharp result there as well. Of course, it very much depends on the depth of field. Learning curve for me :)
Thanks so much for your comment and for sharing, Thomas! Really appreciated that. Here I was in Passo Falzarego, just three kilometres away from the amazingly beautiful Passo Valparola :) Ciao
excellent review
Thanks so much! :)
Welcome back in the mountains Andrea!!!
Thanks so much, Luigi! Ciao :)
One of the must have lenses in the zoom trinity for me. Good stuff Andrea. This lenses could be a walk around lens ( not just landscape) as well. I noticed that many photos were bracketed & would like to know how you determine the range for each bracket , i.e. 1/3, 1/2, 1 ? Thank you !
Totally agree, Mike. The 10-24 is a fantastic lens. Great image quality, portability, and wonderfully built. About the bracketing range, as a sweet spot, starting from the average in-camera metering, I usually set up +/- 2 stops. I have found this setting to be adequate 90% of the time. The key thing is to review the three exposure to check if the entire dynamic range is covered. That means having all the highlights detail on the underexposed shot and a pretty good amount of detail in the shadows with the overexposed shot. I hope it helps :) Ciao
Great review Andrea
already using the older one n quit happy with results.
Just one question Which ND filters you using while landscape?
Thanks so much, Balaji! The old model is still awesome. About your question, I use circular thread filters from NiSi, 3 - 6 and 11 stops. Ciao :)
Do you use tripod for your bracketting shots ?
Super review by the way :)
I hésitate with the 8-16mm F2.8 but is more expensive
Hi Romain, glad you enjoyed the video, thanks! I usually use the tripod for bracketing shots, but it really depends on the light conditions and the time of the day I shoot. In low light conditions the tripod is absolutely essential. About the 8-16, yep, it's definitely not cheap :) Ciao
I've shot in - 15 C temperatures with the X T3, XF 16 to 80mm OIS f 4.0 OIS WR and the XF 55 to 200mm f 3.5 to 4.8 OIS lenses with no issues other than cold fingers.
Yeah, cold fingers are for sure a common issue at -15 °C. Ah ah! ...about your gear, nothing to say... just awesome! :) Ciao Viking
I have the original, but the WR on this version is a big selling point for me, definitely on my must have list.
Hi, thanks for sharing :) Ciao
Thank you Andrea for this thorough review and really film! You have these wonderful locations for your testing which is a great inspiration ;)) I have eyed this lens since the beginning, your mainly positive reviews confirm the quality of the lens (focussing on the newest one). I would definitely spend the extra cash to get WR on top of it for extra security ;) . Is the 8-16 mm a competition to this lens (or not because it is maybe in a complete different league...) , do you have any experience with the 8-16? I just think it's too big and heavy to carry around on a hiking trip compared to the 10-24. Have a nice day, ciao!
Hi, thanks so much for your comment, very much appreciated. The 8-16 is such an amazing lens but it’s quite heavy, expensive, and with the large front bulbous element you’re forced to use a dedicated huge filters system (something I really don’t like). The image quality is amazing, but very similar to the 10-24. For sure, with the 8-16 the main benefits are the f2.8 and the wider angle of view. A sneak peek? I’m working on a new video comparison 8-16 vs 10-24 :) ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Ahhh cool, thanks for the info on the upcoming review!! ;)) but indeed, the price and the weight are quite some important factors and the 10-24 really fits in smoothly for those who are looking for an alternative! Thank you too for your time and professionalism! ;)) Ciao
@@trezegol2007 No worries! Have a good one :)
Thanks for sharing your suggestion :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto great vid and great pictures, Andrea. The (mark 1) version of this lens is a favourite lens of mine, but I’m considering upgrading to the 8-16mm, so I’m very curious how your comparison will turn out! Greetings from Holland.
one more thing, this video is looking very nice. which film simulation you have used in this video ? or you have edit this video later on ?
Thanks so much! I use F-log and edit all the videos in Final Cut.
How did you manage to get such an epic colours in your video? 😳 Especially the first part in the mountains. Is that any preset? Or just straight out from a camera? Thanks!
Thanks so much, Adam! Glad you enjoyed the video. Each footage in the video is filmed with the X-T4 and X-T3 in F-Log (except for the drone footage that is filmed in D-Log). Then I edited everything in DaVinci Resolve for color correction & color grading. I don't use any presets, I much prefer to adjust all the clips manually. Ciao :)
Thanks for another great video Andrea, I've just bought this lens today and have my first fuji camera, the x-t3 arriving tomorrow, can't wait to start discovering the quality of the fuji system. Can i ask why you use lightroom? From what i discovered when researching whether or not i wanted to move from Nikon to Fuji was that fuji raw files get wrecked by lightroom and capture one has to be used to extract the maximum image quality from the fuji file. Interested to hear your thoughts.
Hi Chris, thanks so much for the comment. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. I've been using Lightroom ever since I started taking pictures, so my catalog is quite big now, and a full switch to Capture One would be painful in terms of converting all my edits. However, Capture One is my actual main system to manage my images. Most of my recent edits are done now in Capture One and I'm trying to stick with it for all the new work. Lightroom handles Fuji raw files differently, for sure. Lightroom is getting better release after release, but as you saw, the quality of CO image processing is two steps further. Last year I made a very detailed video about the main differences between the two software, I highly recommend watching it, so you'll have a better idea of what I think about them. ps. enjoy your new Fuji system, you won't be disappointed! Ciao :)
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Thanks for taking the time to reply Andrea, regards from Scotland.

@@real1997 Ciao REAL :)
Bravo Andrea, super review! If I may, I ask you a suggestion: I need a wide angle for my Xt-30, mainly for landscapes. I am in troubles choosing between the 10-24 (either of the two, old or new version, not so much difference...let's say the new one) and the 14mm F2.8. Despite this is an "old guy" I know it is a freaking good lens, super sharp corner to corner, optically perfect, no distortion, lightweight. Slow AF is not an issue for me. Conversely, the 10-24 has a perfect focal range, but listening to and reading several reviews, I have some "concerning feelings": I never hear any enthusiastic comment about image quality, but a lot of "pretty good, more than acceptable" comments, and so on. The same from your review, to be honest I don't perceive a real excitement for the image quality of the 10-24. On the other side, some really appreciable landscape photographer, such as Andy Mumford, love the lens...so who I am not to appreciate that?! In summary...how do you feel about the comparison between the 14mm and the 10-24? Have you ever tested them side to side? A honest suggestion for an amateur landscape photographer? Thanks a lot and thumbs up again!
Thanks, Carlo! Glad you enjoyed the video. I've never had the opportunity to properly test the 14mm f2.8 and compare it with the 10-24mm. Anyway, I recall the 14mm being a little bit sharper than the 10-24 @ 14mm (in the corners). I believe they are suited for different purposes, so it's not a fair comparison putting them side-by-side just considering the sharpness factor. The 10-24mm is absolutely brilliant in terms of versatility, build and image quality. I just got back from a workshop in Iceland and the images I got are excellent sharpness-wise. My mate Andy also uses the 10-24, and we're both more than happy about it. So, for my personal use, I couldn't recommend it enough. Ciao :)
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Thanks Andrea...ok, let's be honest, the lens, You and Andy are probably all better than me in taking pictures...that's all folks. :)
Ciao Andrea. I live your fotos! I see that you do lots of focus bracketing. How do you do that? Do you use the internal Fuji function (I find this kinda complicate) or do you do all manual (set focus near, medium and far manually for each of the 3 fotos)? I have Affinity Photo where I probably could then merge the 3 files (I guess you shoot RAF)!? Many thanks!
Hi Peter, thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate that! About the focus bracketing, I usually work manually. The number of shots very depends from case to case, but as a rule of thumb, I capture at least three shots (foreground, mid-ground, and background). The automatic focus bracketing mode of the Fujifilm cameras is very good, but for most situations the number of exposures it captures is overkill. That feature is very handy for macro photography where you need several more frames to compose the final shot in Photoshop. Not so long ago, I compared the output of Photoshop vs Affinity, and they both made a great job; in some aspects, Affinity performed better. For even more precise results, Helicon Focus software is still at #1. Ciao :)
Great Video, your Pictures are so nice. And i am happy i am only 500 Kilometers away from the Dolomites. So Beautiful. Greetings from Germany
Thanks so much for your nice comment, I really appreciate it. 500 km are not so much, so definitely a trip to the Dolomites is always worth it :) Ciao
Hi, thank you for your review - is there any difference in autofocus for video between the 2 lenses? I primarily will use it for video. Thanks
Hi, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video! In terms of AF performance they are absolutely identical. I didn't see any visible difference. I love this lens for video, just using the OIS without any additional in-camera stabilization (IBIS), the lens performs wonderfully. Ciao :)
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto awesome, thank you....
(13:15) You can force C1 to analyse every individual picture (a little button to the right next to chromatic aberration check box). Usually that helps...
Hi Tomislav, yeah, it works pretty well. Thanks for pointing this out :) Ciao
Nice review, between 8-16mm and this lens, which would you go for?
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks! I love the size and weight of the 10-24, and the image quality is wonderful. It fits much better on my backpack for long hikes. So, even if the 8-16 is an amazing piece of glass, the 10-24 works better for my needs. Ciao :)
excellent review !! thanks. Which one would you choose? The old second-hand version in excellent condition for 500 euros or the new one for 900 euros? in the video I do get the impression that the new version is somewhat sharper. what do you think? Thanks again
Hi Nacho, thanks so much for the comment, glad you enjoyed the review! The new version is identical to the first one in terms of image quality. The main differences are the weather sealing and the aperture ring. I'm going to keep using the first version and I'm pretty happy with it, so I would say, yes, the first version for €500 is a great deal :) Ciao
Great video! Quick question as I'm looking for recommendations. I have the Fuji X-T200 and primarily use it in video mode with the standard lens. As vloggers, it is hard to stand the camera up and back far enough while we are doing a food review for our heads to still be in the picture.. So thinking a wider angle lens might just do the trick.. Our other big issue is we cannot use the flip out viewscreen in conjunction with our Crane M2 gimbal so I am wondering if built in stabilization from a lens like this could allow us to discontinue using the gimbal? Additionally we are looking for crisp in-focus video for nighttime shooting / fireworks, etc. Ideally, we want stable on-the-go vlogging as well as the ability to stand up the camera on a joby to get us and the food in a shot at once! It's been a tricky problem so far!! Thanks so much! :-)
Hi, thanks for stopping by, and glad you liked the video. I don't think a stabilized lens can replace a good gimbal, it's just a matter of compromise. I don't use the 10-24 for vlogging and use it mainly for landscape and travel photography, so I'm probably not the right person to give you specific advice. Anyway, from my experience filming with the 10-24, it works well, even if it's quite wobbling in the corners at 10mm (that's totally normal with any ultra-wide angle lens used for video). That's something you need to take into account. For night shooting, at F4 it's not the brightest lens you can get for your Fuji camera, and you may have to turn up the ISO quite a bit in low light conditions. The lens can be used in many situations, but there are some limitations in terms of stabilization and low light performance. Hope this helps. Ciao :)
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto thanks so much! I did get a good deal on one and hoping this will help! Getting the perfect vlogging setup has been a big learning curve!! Thanks again, ciao! :-)
Wow!
I love this one 15:58
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much! :)
Photographs are absolutely stunning
Thanks so much for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Thanks. How would you compare the image quality to a canon ef 16-35 f4 or f2.8 (not sure which one you used)?
Hi Frank, thanks so much for your comment, and glad you enjoyed the video. Well, I've never had any complaint with the 10-24mm. I mean, aside from the Sunstar, its performances are wonderful all around.
I enjoyed so much the Canon 16-35mm f4 in the past but after I switched to the Fuji system, I never look back :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto thanks a lot for the quick reply.
Looks like the new WR have a little better micro contrast and colours on yellow building (video 10:14) . But Fuji says that the optical formula is exacly the same like old one v1. For my eye this picture on the left looks better more punchier.
Hi Daniel, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Ciao
great review, i also own the updated WR 10-24, and i notice that when shooting anywhere stopped down from f4, the aperture blades stopping down is quite audible, especially worrying when i am focusing on moving subjects, since every time the camera locks focus it closes down the aperture and makes rapid aperture clicking on each focus.
i wonder if you experience the same on your copy, i am considering exchanging the lens if this isn’t normal behavior.
thank you
Hi Brian, thanks for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the review. To be honest, that noise it's quite weird. I've never experienced that issue. I have the feeling that something is not working correctly in your lens :/
My 8-16 copy has relatively loud focus motor noise when I turn the focus wheel, even in manual focus. When you pan it around you hear the same noise from adjustments, even in manual focus mode. The noise stops when the lens is on a tripod with manual focus. In auto focus you can hear the adjustments even on a tripod. I have heard the same noise in a video review. Fuji say it's normal. Also, some f2.8 constant aperture lenses (16-55 etc) change aperture in some positions. This might be related. There is a lot of automation in these lenses.
Hi, thanks for sharing. That's weird! In my experience, I've never had any issue with noisy motor or unexpected aperture changes. For sure, these lenses are very complex internally. The 50-140 has a quite loud linear motor as well. We can live with it :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto The aperture change is normal. The camera keeps the aperture wide open in photography mode, uses digital multipllication when you turn the aperture ring to show the effect on exposure, and previews the actual selected aperture only when the shutter button is half pressed. It stops the aperture down to the selected setting while multiplying the digital signal so that actual brightness on the viewfinder and lcd will not change (this time it's the actual image with correct multiplication). It's the digital DOF preview implementation. Then it takes the picture at the selected aperture if you actually press the button, and returns to the wide open aperture when you release it. If you keep the button half pressed after taking the image in S drive mode or take images in a multishot drive mode (LH, LS), it keeps the aperture stopped down to save time. You shouldn't hear the aperture changing in these cases.
It's normal to hear it when going into and out of actual aperture, in other words, when half pressing the shutter button or releasing it.
I believe you may be hearing normal aperture operation. If you take pictures one by one, it's normal to go from full aperture to selected aperture and back to full aperture.
Thanks for those excellent review. I have a question and not able to decide which lens to buy for my XT4 camera for landscapes and portraits. I am looking for an extra single prime lens aprart from my kit Len 18-55 f2.8-4. would you mind advising about landscapes and portraits shots which one I have to choose ? As I saw your landscapes are amazing I thought you are right person.Thank you.
Thanks so much for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the video. About your question, well, it's a bit complicated. It's quite difficult suggesting a unique fixed lens for both genres since they are very different. Umh, the main point is what do you like to photograph. Each focal length has its aesthetics, so a 16mm is way different from a 24mm, a 50mm, a 100mm, and so on. You could go with the new 18mm/1.4 fixed lens or the 16mm/1.4 if you enjoy capturing environmental portraits (not too tight framing) and they are both great for relatively wide-angle landscape shots. On the other side, you can go toward the telephoto focal lengths like the 90mm f/2 which is a lovely lens for portrait photography but in my opinion, it's quite limiting for landscape tele shots (a much better option, in this case, it would be the 55-200, 50-140, or the 70-300). As I said, it really depends on your personal preferences. I hope it helps :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto that's awesome.thanks for your expert advise. In this case suppose I take 10-24 for landscapes and 50mm for portraits will that cover? BTW how about 18-55mm f2.8 for covering portraits? If thats fine,I shall go for only 10-24 or 16 mm. Please advise. Thank you again for your valuable advise.🙏
@@ksnmurthy4476 10-24 + 50mm, that can be definitely an option to cover more situations. The 18-55 is a great lens, even though I don't like it very much for portraits. But, it's my personal preference. About the 10-24 vs 16mm the first one is more versatile in terms of focal range but it's far less bright than the 16mm. The second one is less versatile but the 1.4 maximum aperture is gold. It's really up to you and your needs. Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto fantastic answer. I am storing this answer. It's a reference for me for my future expansion of my lens arsinel. Thank you again for giving such a valuable expert advise. Where can I see all your landscapes together. Regards,
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Thank you Andrea for your great advise. I shall follow your advise. 🙏💐
hi. i am a beginner. can you suggest me that if i wanted to shoot indoor normal fitness videos , then what focal length should i need ?
and which lens would be more suitable for me ?
Hi, I would recommend something like the 16mm 1.4 or 23mm 1.4/2. They both give you a great angle of view without introducing too much distortion. Ciao :)
Hey, I don’t know if you’ve gotten one of the new 40mp Fuji cameras, but if you have, does this lens hold up with the new sensor?
Hi, thanks for stopping by. The 10-24 is not supported by the new 40mp sensor. I know, it sounds bonkers, but that’s the reality. I’m working on a new video with the X-T5 and in the next couple of week it should be up with some of my thoughts about all this stuff. Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto That I think is mostly just Fuji trying to make sure people don't get too disappointed when they get a 40mp camera. Personally I've tried my 18mm f2 with my X-T5 and it worked fine. Sure, not as sharp as other lenses, but I think it still resolves more detail in the scene than on the older sensors. My point is just that I am looking forward to seeing some actual results from the 10-24 on a X-T5. Not putting much stock in what Fuji says about this to e honest.
top pictures! May I ask you somethin?: How can you shoot rivers with bracket Shots without strange water?
Hi Matthias, thanks for the comment! I think you mean merge multiple exposures in HDR (like in Lightroom or Photoshop with the merge function), correct me if I'm wrong. Well, when you merge multiple shots automatically, you can have some artifacts in the water or moving objects; it very much depends on the type of shot you have. Lightroom provides three settings for de-ghosting, low - medium - high. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If not, I will import the images in Photoshop and I'll blend the exposures manually using layers & masks. Ciao :)
Nice question and a right answer,,,,,,🙏❤️🙏💐💯
@@rajubhaivyas1450 You're welcome! Ciao :)
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto i’m mainly interested in this lens for architectural photography and this answer was super helpful for me as well! Thanks! 🙏

Can you tell anything about the performance in video? Specialy the wobbling effect in the corners.
Hi Claus, the lens is quite good for video. The wobbling effect is very pronounced at the widest focal length, but it's normal behavior if you don't use an additional external stabilizer like a gimbal. The IBIS and the lens OIS are not enough for some specific video applications, especially for moving videos. Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto thank you for your answer. I had the wobbling effect even WITH my gimbal (with the old 10-24mm)
@@clausstahl5166 The wobbly issue is quite common and it's very difficult to address completely. In some situations, if you don't need to move, turning off the stabilizer can help.
Thanks for the great review! Considering buying the WR version. Not that I go out much in the rain but I don’t want to take the risk to be surprised in a downpour and throw away my camera and lens. The €99 extra is not a big issue then.
Hi, thanks so much for the comment and I'm really glad you enjoyed the video :) Ciao
Can you show how you colour grade the fujifilm video?
Thanks for the suggestion. It’s something I’ll probably do, but for now I’m focused on other topics for the channel. Ciao :)
Hello Andrea! I have recently bought this lens from Amazon, but during the delivery the courier dropped the box on the ground, in front of my eyes. Do you think this could have damaged the lens? Is there something I can do to understand if it works correctly?
Ouch! That's not good :/ I can't tell if the lens is totally okay, but you can make some test to check it out:
- attach the lens to the camera and try to shoot using all the apertures available on the lens, and see if it works properly
- select the wider aperture, focus on a subject, and check the image on your PC if the focus is correct.
- check if the image stabilization works correctly, so turn it on and take a few shots at slow shutter speed. Your images should be sharp (it depends on how long is the shutter speed you selected), and you should be hearing the IS motor working.
That's what I would check before to move forward with any replacement request to Amazon. That's it. I hope it helps and fingers crossed for the lens :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto thanks, I will make some tests but for now it seems working correctly. How is the aperture ring of the lens you have? Pretty hard to turn or smooth?
@@davi_brt Glad to hear that. The aperture ring is quite smooth but it has enough friction to not be too loose.
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto in comparison to my 16-80, the ring is significantly smooth. Sometimes when I take out the camera from the bag I wrongly change the aperture. With the 16-80 this never happens, because the ring is harder
@@davi_brt From what I know, each lens is different. The ring friction is different from model to model.
Ciao Andrea, hai mai avuto problemi in controluce col 10-24?
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Grazie, 💪
Hello,
I have the same combination as you... unfortunately it's blurry and/or extremely noisy no matter what I do in my videos. Although it's midday, 4K and ISO 160. What is the reason for this? It must be something in the settings ...
HI, when shooting in F-log the camera settings you're going to use are really important. Make sure to set the exposure correctly. Exposing for Log is slightly different. Ciao
Mkii still soft and soft corners vs prime 16/18/23?
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I haven't had a chance to compare this lens with the primes you mentioned, so I can't speak to how it performs.
I go photograph in my backyard everyday - Venice
Venice is a great place to photograph :)
Is this lens good for printing images ?
Yes, sure!

Spero almeno nei primi 10 allora... nel frattempo ci lavorerò :) grazie mille per il messaggio!
Is it just me or was the sharpness of the both versions pretty average? When you zoomed in I expected it to be pin sharp at f8?
Hi Regan, on RUclips, is quite difficult to evaluate the sharpness and detail at 100% due to the video compression. On the monitor, the difference is remarkably clear. f/7.1-ish is the sweet spot for this lens.
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto yes absolutely I didn’t even think about it being on RUclips. I recently put some of my photos in Capture One and the difference between Lightroom and Capture One is startling. Photos I thought weren’t sharp or in focus just look terrible in Lightroom but in Capture One they look amazing. Would love to see how you edit in Capture One.
@@regannealephotography Yep, just with the default settings CO makes a better job than LR. Besides demosaic "issue" in Fujifilm, they are quite different in how they work with contrast, colors, tone controls, and much other stuff. For sure I'll make a video about editing with Capture One :) Ciao
@@AndreaLivieriPhoto Pardon the newbie question: Why is f/7.1 better than f/4 on this lens? Can you clarify what you mean and elaborate on when this would be so?
@@chaddonal4331 lenses are not uniformly sharp at every aperture, nor at every focusing distance. And in the case of zoom lenses, not equally across the zoom range. So, for most of the lenses, the best performances in terms of sharpness are usually in the range between f/5.6 - f/8. Ciao
Your sample photos are stunning - in subject matter and technique. This makes it more difficult to be critical of the lens's performance, because the viewer is overwhelmed by the beauty of the photos. If I am critically looking, however, I find the lens resolving to be subpar for my liking. I think I would be better off with the Laowa 9mm f2.8 prime lens. Just my opinion. Of course the Fuji offers AF and OIS, which can't be ignored as well as the zoom range, against price and size. It's good that the user has a choice. Thanks for your video.
Glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback! I really appreciate your kind words about the sample photos. I'm very happy with the 10-24mm, but I completely understand and respect your critical assessment of the lens's performance. Everyone has different preferences and requirements when it comes to photography gear, and it's great to have options like the Laowa 9mm f2.8 prime lens available to suit individual needs. Photography is all about finding the right tools that fit your specific style and needs, and it's wonderful that we have various choices available to cater to diverse shooting preferences.
Beware before buying this lens! Unfortunately some of these 10-24 lenses have really big IQ problems. Mine is always soft in certain areas of the frame (like, smudgy soft even at f10) due to extreme field curvature. I sent it for repair 3 times with no improvement.
Do you think you don’t need a full frame? Why Fujifilm?
Hi Mahdi, full-frame vs aps-c sensor is an evergreen question, or rather, THE evergreen question. These days the difference between the two is negligible. What really matters is the photographer, the one who knows about composition and lighting. That's it. And, why Fujifilm? Because I love how it makes me feel good when I use it, it's all about the user experience. Ciao :)
