Mark Waid isn't as relevant as he believes he is. Kingdom Come did not become a phenomenon because of his mid writing, Alex Ross made that book in it's entirety.
@@timepoet77 Bill Burr said it best. "Maybe I got slugged in the mouth because I was being a dick." Mark Waid is a dick. One knuckle sandwich would give him introspection. exactly. People who act like Mark Waid and get away with it think it’s acceptable If someone had checked him early he’d maybe learn not to act like a child
I used to really like Mark Waid’s writing. I still do. Kingdom come, Flash and a very underrated run of Fantastic Four. I even loved his world’s finest. I’m pretty good separating the art from the artist but Waid really went a step too far. He was willing to let the entire industry crash and burn if it meant working with his ideological “enemies”. It’s then that I knew I couldn’t support him. I will still read his older work but anything new, he can piss off. I’m no conservative( heck I don’t even like Trump all that much) but that gives him no right to go after customers and fans who are that. They are people too.
I was at Terrificon on Friday. From what I saw, Claremont had the longest line in that section of artists alley. There was no line for Waid. What shocked me was some big artists were there but weren’t promoted. The legendary artist, Michael Golden had a table and hardly anyone noticed. I scrambled to find books for him to sign. He was friendly and gracious.
I met Mark Waid at A small convention in 2017 before he started his crusade against Comicgate, and I deeply regret that. Not that anything bad went down in that meeting, it went pretty well ass things considered, but after all his drama, I wish I met someone who respected the fans more than he did.

I was done with Wade after he tried to destroy Antarctic Press over publishing a guy's basic super-hero book. Gail Simone has lost her shit trying to make Dynamite discriminate against conservative customers. Dynamite kept their foot down for equality and no politics in doing business.
I have no problem separating his personal agendas from his comic writing which I think is top tier. Now if people in this country could do the same with their politicians and separate personality from who is actually making the country better and stronger we’d have a major change this November..
Claremont even at his age writes circles around Mark Waid. The fact that he thinks he has any clout to go after Mark Millar is hilarious. Millar has more money made in a year then Mark Waid made in his entire lifetime.
Years ago, I thought Mr. Waid was the brightest spot at DC Comics. He did the Silver Age, he showed respect and love for that era. I loved his sprinkling of sixties references in today's stories. Loved his Wally West Flash run. Really have a hard time believing all this negative stuff. Mind you, I never personally met him.
Went to Terrificon and interacted with three creators. Al Milgrom, Michael Golden, and Walt Simonson. So glad there was a line for Al Milgrom who I got to do a piece of artwork for me and actually had breakfast with Walt Simonson and other RUclips creators. Simonson was so amazing, down to earth and one of the highlights of my con experience. As far as creators go though, Chris Claremont had the longest line and was still interacting with fans an hour after the con was supposed to be over.
“Mark Waid is on his way out” yep that’s why he will be writing Justice League Unlimited, 12 issues of Action Comics (that will be weekly), the 12-issue Batman & Robin Year One while also staying on World’s Finest which has run for 30 issues so far. You really have your finger on the pulse of what’s going on with DC Comics.
I met him years ago. I didn't have a bad time he was friendly and nice. He signed my Empire and Kingdom Come trades. He was astonished Alex Ross signed my copy. He geeked out I had an Empire trade asked what I liked about it etc. Now never meet Howard chalking. He was an ass to me. George Perez was a sweetheart to meet.

Well events have had a number of issues over the years. Tie ins of course always being a issue. Which can make it confusing, if you need to read them all or some are just straight up skippable, due to being nothing but a cash grab that merely repeats info you already knew. That and the amount of books that are normally drawn into a event. A big manga arc, you just keep buying the book your already buying to watch it unfold. A comic event? You have to buy books, you might not even buy normally. If you want to keep up on it and not wait for it to be release bundle together in a trade. Which I forget if they are still pushing event after event thing right now. Yet that was also another issue, the overdoing of events. To the point it like, you make all of them sound out like it going to be this major big thing. That will change everything forever. Only for there to be another event right around the corner, that is going to do the same thing. Which all just leads to. Why should I care? Given they don't give enough time for the fall out of these events to have any real effect or proper impact. Like there is many reasons why a event title might not be selling well at this point. Heck it could just be, they driven away so many people or collector got burnt so badly, there is far fewer people interested and willing to buy them today. Then there was say a mere few years ago.
scott snyders books are just better reads imo than waid's. though continuity errors from new 52 couldn't be avoided, i love reading those comics he wrote

I do enjoy his writing, but I am starting to tire of his constant beratement of those he disagrees with. At some point I am going to have to make a choice: Continue reading books written by an obvious bigot, or drop him like a hot potato.
Agree with you 💯 on Mark Waid, although I don't feel sorry for him, you reap what you sow and it's been a long time coming for that _bastich,_ (as Lobo would say).
Mark is a moron but he is far from been out. He's getting his dream of writing Action Comics, relaunching the Justice League, his Black Label book with Hitch is still coming, and he will continue doing World's Finest.
Minute 8: 41 "Mark Waid is going to be on the way out soon." Action Comics becomes a weekly title beginning with issue 1070. It will be written by Mark Waid. He is not being "put out to pasture." He is being given essentially four titles a month to write. DC probably wants to get Action Comics to reach issue 1100 sooner rather than later. Years ago when Action Comics reached issue 1000 DC had eight different covers and it was, I think, a $9.99 comic.
