It originated when ranchers started to add living spaces in working barns with lots of wide ope space. nice height for a tall xmas tree. Congrats on the build on you and the family home.
Nice to see y'all getting moving on the build. as someone who has wired a couple of these, ask your electrician if they want to do any pipe work underground before you prep for concrete; it may save you some money. They normally come in after the plumber's do their thing in the dirt before you pour. One thing I do like on a house out in the country, is a 3 way/4 way switch on the flood lights at every exterior door so outside lights are easy to get to from the closest door. Good advice, I'll add to the list is as many out lets as possible in the kitchen. Plan on 2 microwaves and 2 toaster ovens just in case.
