4:04 Fun Fact about this picture: Kurt was with a couple friends checking out museums and such in NYC. He was a bit agitated as the fame really hit him and was constantly being mobbed by paparazzi and didn't want to spend the day taking pictures with people. However when this fan came up and told him how much he loved his music and asked for a picture, Kurt happily obliged. He smiled and told his friends he'd never had a black person say they liked his music.
I'm a black girl from East Africa who's loved Nirvana since I was a kid. Some of my friends thought I was weird for loving that music but it never deterred me. I wish I could have got the chance to meet Kurt and tell him how much his music means to me.
@@MissjunebugfreakI imagine Kurt would have appreciated your comment. Keep on being you and being an example that colour matters not when it comes to great music. ✌️❤️

Definitely, I don’t think most people see how nice it is, most just brush it off as just “another weird kurt cobain song that isnt nirvana” This definitely comes along with how good Kurt’s cover of And I Love Her is
It's a glimpse of what could have been. Incredibly complex pop music. He was brilliant and it's one of the great tragedies of music that he died so young.
These really are some of the most awkward celebrity fan photos I've seen, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My favorite is the guy hovering his arm around cobain's shoulder but not resting it.

Kurt Cobain was one of a kind. And you can quote me on that. He is a very rare type of person indeed. Few people on this planet are like him. One thing a lot of people don’t realise is that he was very introverted and shy. I’m not sure if it was caused by his childhood traumas or if he’s naturally that way. Either way, you can tell from his body language and facial expressions that he gets less comfortable with more people. Lots of rockers, especially punk rockers of his generation like Eddie Vedder, Flea and Billie Joe Armstrong etc are all miles more extroverted and fuelled by rampant, chaotic crowds. The same can be said about his professional rival, Axl Rose. But Kurt, Kurt was a completely different specimen. Yes, his unpredictable stage persona during ‘88-‘91 made him seem like a sociable, confident man, but in all honesty, that was most probably his way of carrying himself and channeling his inner rage through gruelling performances he constantly subjected himself to. However, come to ‘92-‘94, and somethings…off. He isn’t moving around as much. He isn’t really being enthusiastic. And his facial expression is this…unchanging shape of sorrow. The man’s been through the universe, pretty much. It’s all too much to explain. But trust me, he is a person you wouldn’t want to live in the shoes of; it’ll break you in a week. Also, there’s an almost certain chance he was on the spectrum. You don’t have to take my word for it, but if you watch a whole bunch of performances, yes, but ESPECIALLY interviews, the way he interacts with people and talks is so…idiosyncratic. Distinctive. Yes he’s quiet and shy, but also very…not “normal”. On top of that, his humour is very spontaneous, yes, but also very nonsensical. Like, humour only he can understand or comprehend. Things like “twist of lemon” and “shave your head and wear a dress”, definitely have a message or meaning, but they’re also quite random and just happen on a whim. Now I don’t really want to get into drugs, because that is a whole other can of worms. But I will say, being a very troubled individual and consuming substances is guaranteed to completely fry your brain and mess you up, until you are nothing but a hollow shell of sadness. And none of this was his fault. And lastly, socialising can be very hard for some, but imagine the nightmare it must be for Kurt. He was always cast off by others and treated as…pretty much an NPC. Imagine how hard must that be? It’s a good thing he found Krist, an amazing friend. But even he was unable to fill his tortured, lonely soul. Apparently, some other comment describes that during Kurt’s final days, while Krist was trying to bring Kurt to rehab for the greater good of himself, Kurt forcibly exited the car, and ran away from his best buddy, blurting “F*ck you!”. Might just be a rumour, but if true, that’s just heartbreaking. People just don’t seem to see Kurt for who he really is. He’s just a lost boy who had a dream and wanted to show the world his amazing music. But in the process, he became overwhelmed and fell into a terrible rabithole, ending like this. Poor dude.
@@tonym50195 I don’t disagree, she was a terrible influence and had zero sense of self-control. Although it’s good that he found a lover, it’s simultaneously terrible that it had to be one that viewed drugs as mandatory. And yes, THIS RUINED THE MAN.
Quiet and shy, dry and be sarcastic sense of humor, uncomfortable in huge crowds, ignored like some NPC, Kurt kind of sounds like me. Also his humor always seemed ahead of his time. The type of humor Kurt had always seemed so random, like Gen Z's.
He was a misfit but he found empowerment through Punk Rock ideals and he dared to be completely himself.this in turn inspired (and continued to inspire) many misfit kids like myself , who was 15 in 1995 and hated school and my whole existence. Kurt taught me it was ok to be myself. He was truly special. Geffen and Gold Mountain management also put huge pressure on him . The corporate thing really would have weighed on him. He just was following his dream and wanted to be free. It's very sad but maybe he saved many teenage lives through his message of integrity and self determination. I also hope Courtney gets her karma if it is indeed true that she had him killed when she found out he was leaving her. I hope justice is served.
