I started to paint abstract about a month ago and i love to use a squeegee,i also love to use a scraper. I would of taken off more of the white it hid a lot of texture and effects. I really love this piece, seeing the finished piece with the tape removed would be great. You now have a new subscriber.
When you put the white on top, in my head i was screaming "Nooooooo!" Loved the colours before all the white and then there was a white overkill. Luckily you added some more colours :)
"The Pound Shop" will henceforth be what I refer to my bedroom as.
Thanks

Bravo 👍
😂😂😂
I never really lik3e modern contemp, but I love this one and will watch more of your work. Thanks
The squeegee is my favourite tool to paint with.. I love how transparent its makes the paint and the spread just gives beautiful marks.
Yes its a very good tool to paint with. Thanks for the commend Maddie
James I LOVE your style, your paintings, the music you select, the pace you keep, your narration...I know I'm just some stranger on the other side of a screened abyss, but something about your work is stirring the creative in me. Just thought I'd share that with you. Thank you.
Thanks Adam, very kind and thanks for the comment.
Love this!
Very cool video. I like your narration. Gotta say, I loved this until the white. White is nice on the bottom, but too much on the top, you covered up some nice texture and color. Nothing is wrong in art, just my personal POV.
Thanks Sal, love your comment, yes sometimes I never know when to stop. 😆
Feeling like the large white section is unfinished. Love the squigy technique.
Wow! I had never seen somebody actually show how to do this type of art before and it is so liberating compared to everything I had ever done before. I usually have to be so careful about where I place my paint and watching you squeegee the canvas has just got to be one of the most surprising things I’ve seen an artist do. I love how the artwork turned out and it looked like you had a great time doing it too. Thank you for sharing this technique in your wonderful video! Take care! 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks soo much Paola I hope it inspired you to give it a go, thanks for the lovely comment 🤗
Wow, I love it !! I’m going to try . Thank you for share your ideas. Good job.
Thanks, yes give it a go I'm sure you can do it.
Really learned a lot from this process. Thank you for sharing with us! It looks amazing and I cant't wait to see this piece on a frame!
Thanks for the comment and glad you can try this for yourself. Thanks
Thanx James you are helping me so much broadening my horizons in the field of abstract painting! Love your work
I’d really like to learn more about the painting trough with sides that you made to keep the paint inside, please.
James to be honest your artwork is very nice rven if while you are painting it seems you are like a sailor on a boat t in the middle of the night with only the starlight that guide you to destination.
But after all I see you find the right way.
James, I love it, I think it is absolutely gorgeous. I love your artwork.
Great artwork! I love the colors, you inspire me to improve my abstract paintings, thank you!
I have been told to use a professional grade white but cheaper coloured acrylics , would you agree with this ? Love your works .
Omg, it's an art, I'm delighted to watch this ❤
Thanks Soni
Great as always. The way you paint, the music, the colors. I just love to watch you paint. Thank you. You are a great inspiration.
Thank you so much 😀
What a coincidence. I've just begun painting and my better half got me a squigee to clean the windows which happened to be lying near my art material.I was contemplating how comfortable it would be to spread the paint with this rather than laboring with the palette knives...did one painting with those, struggled and changed it from abstract to landscape ....thanks for the pointers and demonstration.
Im glad you have given it a try, keep painting with the window squigee. Thanks for the comment
I love it!! Thank you for sharing! I did it on a 10x10, so fun! I might do it on a 24x48! 😀
Well done for giving it a go Lyly
Nice result for this painting

J'adore! 'j' aime cette transparence. Merci pour cette vidéo.
Fascinating to watch! I love the process and the result!!!
Thanks Trudy, make sure you give it a try.
Such a great artwork! Love the technique you are using here, James with a simple squegee. Will try this too soon. Greetings from Amsterdam, the Netherlands 🌷
Thanks Irene, I love Amsterdam
I get that abstract is very subjective but IMO there still needs to be some conceptual idea, and I think the overuse of white absolutely took away to much from all the possibilities of the “underpainting “
Can't help thinking the same thing. The end result in my view looks like an unfinished canvas. There's a lot to be said for the philosophy of less being more. The white along with at least two other bright contrasting colours should have been used for accents here and there.
j'adore votre travaille vous êtes un artiste distingué Bravo!
This looks amazing 😎👍🏼
I use pallet knifes, but love the effort with the squeegee, I'll try that idea myself 🌟
Thanks yes you can get a great look with this technique, thanks for the cooment.
Love these lovely marks!❤
Super, danke für das tolle Video!
Gruß Michael

Cool music too!
Your work is lovely.
It’s very beautiful!
I love it
Love that❤
Beautiful!!
Nice, but personally I would’ve stopped right after the red touch. Lol when I saw you add the white I was like Noooooo 😂… looks cool though 👍
Amazing! What an interesting technique! it reminds me of Gerhard Richter. One of my favourite artists. 😊 Liked and subscribed
Great and greetings from Germany
Thanks 🙏 and hello to Germany 🇩🇪
This is fabulous,,,,,
Beautiful....!!👏👏👏👏
Very very original and nice👌👌
Thanks Josette
Love it😊
Thanks for the great video. I have a question, though. I didn't understand the beginning very well. Is it paper or canvas? How is it supported? Thanks again, great tips!
I really love this ! The colors and the flow of the painting. I didn’t think I was going to like the white, but it worked beautifully!
I was getting discouraged on painting and was going to go back to pours but now I think I’ll try this! 💕
Yes give it a try, you will love it, it's funny how I keep trying different techniques as well. Keep painting and thank you for the comment.
"Really love the how this lower left section looks" - Proceeds to annihilate the lower left section. Fortunately, Art is subjective. I would advise to create a safe point with some lacquer over the section, next time. This way you can get the white off more easily (it won't soak as easily into the fabric), and even use some acrylic paint remover (if you use non acrylic lacquer), if it dries to fast on you. Anyway, thank you for the video, it was educational.
New sub, ready to see all your creations. I’ve done acrylic pouring and resin art n jewellery but not for a couple of years now as I got back into aquaristics.
I’ve been feeling a tad artsy farts of late n started watching tubers….plus rearranging furniture n “trying” to get house in some decent kind of order. Can’t afford to really Reno an d plus once you wanna do one thing, often you have to then do 4 others as they all affect each Reno area. Soooo art may be they way
Me encanta 👏👏👏👏🤗
Thanks for the comment
That's really funny when you decided to call this painting superhero, because initially the with the color it gave me a feeling of apocalypse from X-Men.. something very powerful
Beautiful 🎉🎉
Question
Can I use Kiltz paint / primer the color Graywood on a stretched gesso pre-primed canvas as the paint?
Then after it dries paint in big strokes a titanium white color ( acrylic of course) Wanted to do a project for someone who gave me a picture of an acrylic painting, and it looks like it’s a greige color background with white wide strokes of white acrylic paint over it.. the graywood kiltz color is like a greige or tan color..
Ty
It's fantastic👌🏻!!!
Great work of art! Music was good too but I did have the constantly adjust the volume while watching. The music was much louder than you were so I was constantly raising the volume so I could clearly hear what you were saying and then turn the volume back down quickly when the music started back louder, especially in the first half. Not a deal breaker but was a bit distracting. But again, GREAT WORK OF ART!
Really love this and I'm glad I came across your videos. Now I need to head off to the $ store to pick up some squeegees!
Aww thanks for the comment, yes give it a go. They work really well.
would be nice to see it mounted and hung on a wall, but interesting work, tfs
Yes I must get this piece stretched and mounted, thanks for the comment
Superb 👍
Thanks for the comment
This is stunning…… you have inspired me! Thank you❗️I will follow you you for more ideas.
Thanks, Kasandra for the comment, I'm glad you will give this a try.
I'm new here. How are you able to keep it wet that long? Is this the acrylic they use for pour paintings?
I love the areas with the colors & hard lines u created giving the areas a dimensional look. Like u could crawl in2 those areas. I do not like all the white. I honestly believe u should've muted more of the white area, wiping more of it off. Exposing more of the paint underneath possibly fading 8 2 the white. I'D have 2 think about it more.
Thanks Nans Nook, appreciate your comment on this one. Yes always hard when to know to stop on a peice.
Mantap bos,ngopi bos👍
😍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks Carlos
Its great but tbh I liked it better before the white went on !!
Nice
Like the squeegee and rub out techniques. Will try this🎨🙏
Are you using acrylic paint?
At minute 9, the painting looked great. Then it was destroyed after that. If you had some neon colors in the center; it would have been amazing.
Hi there! This is a beautiful piece. I really don't know much about your process, but why are you using a paper towel to wipe off your paint? Sincerely, I'm not being a smartass. That's the problem with text, you can't tell tone. But it's a sincere question. Thank you for sharing this amazing piece!!
Quite a few abstract artists use the paper towel as a tool. For a start, it's cheap. But for a deeper reason, you get some interesting fade and texturing effects and it helps to soak up excess paint.
Hi James!!!!! I’m back again! LOL.
That’ll be 3 million dollars
Thanks Erik, hopefully one day hey.
Did you remove the canvas from the stretch frame and tape it to a solid surface?
I love this video so much! Thank you for sharing. Fiy I never paint before but, I would love to try this. Could you tell me what kind of color painting type? Are they acrylics? Tia!
Thanks for the comment, they are normal Acrylic Paints.
@@FlowWorksArt but you mentioned something you added like liquitrol to make the acrylic flow better. Couldn't quite catch it.
So happy that I found your Chanel 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Are u painting with Acrylic??
I'm glad I stumbled across you.
I quite enjoyed how you simply explained what you're doing & why.
I'm new to abstract art.
I'm used to surrealism, cubism, snything dark or gory.
Now I wish to take on abstraction & combine all the above in some way.
Subscribed & will be following you closely.
I'll try not to catch your heels as I go 😆💜
Thanks for the comment Danny, glad you enjoyed watching it
Thanks, everyone for your comments, thanks for the advice watch out for my weekly content.
What's the song(s) you used in this video?
Not too sure, I used Artlist for my music on the videos and have downloaded so many tracks. Thanks for the comment.
Love this! Can u tell me who does the song?
Leon in the comments has tracked them down for you. Thanks
Did I coat with Floetrol first up before adding anything…? I’m maybe guessing not as the watered down colours wouldn’t have given that faded affect etc
It was just mixed with Floetrol and water. Thanks fo the comment.
Wow this is beautiful! I will try this squeegee technique too! Thank you so much! New subscriber here! :)
May I know what size is the canvas on the video?
love it !!and what's the name of the first song😍
What kind of paint is that?
can you list the songs you used? they're great
I think Leon in the comments has already listed these Maindis. Thanks
Beautiful! But tip, the music is too loud and distracts from the process of the video and art. Also, the music doesn’t match the video. It ends up taking away from the video. Especially since you have a soft tone voice.
