Great to listen to the informed perspective of an experienced Bangladeshi. Liked the way Uzair was respectful and yielding, letting him speak freely. It is the least we Pakistanis must demonstrate to the people we wronged so brutally. Even though I was born after '71 I felt a strange pain and embarrassment when the Ambassador mentioned Pakistan. It would be great if more conversations with eminent Bangladeshis would be aired.

He explained the turn of events quite well. Some of the things which got missed though were:
    1) Nationwide shutting down of the internet so that the government and their goons/police can kill people mercilessly in this information darkness. People living abroad could not speak to family members for 10 days straight. All this was done by the former ICT minister.
    2) People have been kidnapped by the police for the slightest of dissent against the government and all the oppression of past 15 years of this dictatorship has been outburst during this protest movement. The quota issue and the merciless crackdown was the last straw of the ways Hasina government tortured the common people.
    3) There is not a single institution in Bangladesh which was not corrupt under her leadership and she placed people strategically to control the institutions to her favor. Almost $92 Billion was stolen and transferred abroad leaving the country in a pile of debt while eye washing people with few select infrastructure projects (which could have been done many times over with the said $92 Billion stolen!!!

Amb. Shamsher Mubin Chowdhury, it isn't fair, isn't even right, to say that India didn't have Secularism until 1974. While drafting the Constitution, making explicit mention of the word SECULARISM in the preamble of the Constitution came into the discussion.
Dr BR Ambedkar, Head who is also called the Father of the Constitution and was the last person who would have been unsecular, said, "The constitution in its content is SECULAR so there is no need to say so in the preamble," which was accepted by the group.
He also later said, that the best constitution in the hands of not-so people will fail to work well but not so good a constitution in the hands of good people will work masterly.
Thus the need to introduce the word SECULAR was realised after 1975 and not at the best time of India; it happened during the Emergency between 1975 and 1977.

Do you know that India propped up the Bangladesh textile industry (also ceramics) at the cost of its own to help Hasina. With Hasina ousted Indian manufacturers are salivating at the prospect of getting a big pie of the garment sector.
So Bangladesh’s only export industry goes for a toss. Secondly with Islamisation women will be kept at home. Another blow to the garment industry which was women driven. Next Islamisation means bye-bye population control and increased birth rate. What does that mean. More unemployment, more hunger. Fall in per capita indexes of all HDI indexes across the board. Competition for Pakistan and Afghanistan for the bottom slot of Asia. Bangladesh will take time to realise what ousting Hasina costs them.
Hasina was always Bangladesh first. She drove hard bargains and because of sentimental reasons India gave it to her much to the dissatisfaction within India. Actually the hand of India tied behind the back because of Hasina will now be free.

Today the percentage is 7.95% which is approximately 1.40 cr of total population(17.2 cr total). In between this time Hindu population have grown by 12% overall in Bangladesh. It becomes easy to spread propaganda using percentage and hiding the real numbers. They easily manipulate people like you playing the percentage card which obviously will be lesser when the comparing number is higher even if there is growth. See any Indian publications, They will not give you the numbers. They will not even mention the high growth of other ethnic populations.
