One moment, I was seeing lights, next moment, I saw nothing but darkness. You can imagine what was going on in my mind. That's when I found out that section went under the water. Also the first time, traffic was on the same bridge.
No imagining necessary--I drove it heading into the OBX during Hurricane Matthew 😅 Forecast said it was gonna stay out at sea so we were already committed by the time they said "sike" and that it was turning back to make direct landfall pretty much right where we were going. Went through the tunnel in torrential rains to where the roads were flooding, but made it to our destination. Then stayed in the top story of a 3 story house built on stilts where you could feel the entire building moving in the nearly 100mph winds lol. Scary shit!

My daughter is coming in from Texas this weekend. And I am diverting her around this route.
