I love seeing an item like this restored and stained! There are way too many videos on painting antiques! This was amazing to see it come alive and your restoration is spot on! Beautiful job!!!
You gave this piece its soul back. Excellent video, I thoroughly enjoyed it after a hard day at work. I appreciate your channel, especially now after having lost my uncle to coronavirus over the weekend. Please stay safe!! Blessings to you all
I watch a lot of RUclips trying to learn to flip and I can't believe the care and detail you took in this piece to make a simple old battered piece truly and heirloom now worthy of being passed down many more generations! I am watching your dog hike now and not to the end but would love to see the owner's reaction!
Ha ha ha ! I purposely came to this comment section for this same reason . . . No updates on fixing that guide rail back to the table made me suspicious . . . 🤔😂 This just shows that we're all human after all . Similar things happens to us in life . Just forgive and continue to love and live . . . ✌😘
I refinished one of these that belonged to my grandma and then my mother. There were hundreds of little thumbtack holes in the sides where there had been a skirt. Luckily there was no paint in the drawer and it works smoothly after a little soap on the sides.
Now I remember I am retired happened upon mr bears videos and thought this is great im going to buy all the equipment and redo furniture for all of my family I have supplied fire wood because this is really hard now I remember shop class I sucked so I enrolled in a class for cabinetry and in 10 years maybe I will do something worthwhile
Once again you did a miracle transformation. My mom had a vanity table like that with a fitted skirt fitted to two hinged wood sections that would open up like a curtain for access to the drawer. I wonder if this was painted originally? It sure looks better with stripping and finish you applied than any paint. I so agree about that Minwax. Nasty oily mess.
That's how my vanity table was too, with those two arms that would open to access the drawer. My Mom made a fabric cover for my vanity table that matched my bedroom drapes. Our table was also painted a glopped-on white, and we bought it at an estate sale for about $10. It had straight legs, not nearly as nice as this with the spool turned legs. So it was good we covered it with a fabric quilted top and floor length, gathered skirt. It doesn't seem to me that this table and seat are a set. The seat almost looks like one for a sewing machine and its design looks low and ungainly compared to the vanity table's legs and curved top. If it were me I'd use a caned chair with the vanity table, or a round, fabric covered piano stool if you could find one.
The more descriptive a person has the better I like it and I really like your video and especially when the dog said is as smooth as my belly button that cracked me up and I love the scenery that you showed us that's beautiful wow what a difference
I WANT that gorgeous vanity NOW. An absolutely wonderful job. You are a perfectionist. And you love your dog which gets tons and tons of brownie points. I think I'm addicted to you channel 😎
Thank you for saying something about people painting their furniture rather than staining, my sentiments exactly : ) Cute little restore, looks more adult like than with the mounds of paint you waded through.
Recommendation for a table saw? Bosch ... I picked up one from Lowes for about $400. It comes with a roll about stand for it that folds up for storage. I’ve restored antique furniture with it. It has been a great saw for me. As with any saw, careful measurement. It’s been a great saw. It is remarkably precise for a portable table saw.
Lovely job. So many young vloggers use chalk paint to redo furniture, which is OK if the style is outdated. But here with the spool legs it looks fantastic with the dark wood finish.
At first, I quite disliked those pieces of furniture, but by the end, I was in love. Amazing how doing things properly can make things look so different.
The chairs or stools for Vanity tables started with using a regular chair or stool and the width of the seat has a lot to do with "Tradition", When Vanity Tables became popular for Ladies, the ladies were wearing either hoop skirts or Bustles, much wider that a "derrière!" The meaning of derrière is literally "Back Side" The use of a small curtain to hide the drawer also "Hid" the ladies ankles, at one time it was alright to see a "Back Side" but seeing a ladies ankles was thought to be "Rude and sexually exciting!" My how the times have changed!
I'd like to see how you removed the corrugated fasteners and how you repaired that area. Nice job on the table. It's beautiful. Any time that you restore a vintage piece that has been painted white, it's a good day. Stay safe.
Thanks bud! I just pulled out what I could with some pliers and glued up any splits/filled any parts that would be seen. Since they were at the top of the legs they were hidden and never to be seen again unless someone unscrewed the top and took it off. In that case, they'd see the history of the piece!
I am so excited to find your channel. Your style in editing is great!! You have a cute dog and a great sense of humor. Reminds me of helping my Pop in his shop when I was a kid. But I found it fascinating that you talked about not using minwax but there was an ad for it at the beginning of your episode. Keep up the amazing restorations!
Omg you did such a beautiful job of course as usual.. I would have love to see the lady’s reaction when she seen it. I hope see knows all the extras you did to make it nice n sturdy, you know a lot of the things you don’t really see visually yet really plays a big part to the end result. Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful. I can’t believe that that painted mess came out like that! I have tried to do this and I’m sad to say it’s been years and the projects bested my level of expertise. But I think I might give them a try again. 😉
I must admit, I actually loaded this white table and chair right from the sight of it. But curious I was to see what you might do with it. And now I'm truly impressed. The table looks absolutely gorgeous! The chair ...I still dont like the shape of it but sincerely admire your workmanship.
from a junkyard quality to a high end furniture brands quality, just "whoa"!
I love seeing an item like this restored and stained! There are way too many videos on painting antiques! This was amazing to see it come alive and your restoration is spot on! Beautiful job!!!
You’re another restoration channel I’ve discovered in lockdown. It’s brilliant. I’m really enjoying finding stuff like this.
Thanks!
The top of the vanity is just gorgeous. The color is so rich and vibrant.
I love seeing the true glory in the natural grain in the wood
👍👍👍
wowzer! just hitting the like button doesn't do justice to this. That is a fabulous finish.
Thanks bud!

Thank you and so sorry for your loss.
Such a labor of love,,,the finished piece ,,shows your workmanship,,,,bravo
This is the *DOPEST* BED FRAME & BEDROOM EVER !!!

Confess, you had to remake the drawer guide rail because you made the same side left or right as the original.
Haha I did🤣
Ha ha ha ! I purposely came to this comment section for this same reason . . . No updates on fixing that guide rail back to the table made me suspicious . . . 🤔😂

Amazing transformation! You turned shabby into something elegant. I would love it for my home office!
Sorry couldnt you just turn it around ? Oh i c. Lol
I noticed that to. I must confess I was sitting giggling.
I refinished one of these that belonged to my grandma and then my mother. There were hundreds of little thumbtack holes in the sides where there had been a skirt. Luckily there was no paint in the drawer and it works smoothly after a little soap on the sides.
My god, It looks brand new, so satisfying to watch, thanx for sharing!
And there, people, is an excellent example of how to turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse. I didn’t think it possible. Looks awesome.
Thanks! 😃
Looks great. I'd love to see how you repaired the damaged/cracked wood where the corrugated fasteners were.
I love it! Wish we could see owners reaction!
This vanity turned out beautiful
It doesn't even look like the same desk and chair.... Fantastic!
Thanks!
Looks like you built it from scratch. PERFECT!!
Потрясающий результат! Вы вернули всю красоту дереву!
The final look became awesome

Just love that cute desk. I already like this refinement.
The desk looks beautiful. Lost for words!

James Pollowitz was going to say the same thing. The million little pin holes around the edges were dead give away.

Wow! That turned out beautiful! Great job!
Beautiful work. What looked like child's play furniture really turned into a set that's handsomely elegant! That stain color was perfection! :)
Wow , das ist sehr schön geworden . Beeindruckend ********

Brilliant restoration John, unusually wide chair for a small vanity table 🙂

Very entertaining AND enlightening!! That could a writing desk from a century or more ago. Loved the underwater pics of the sunfish.
It's better than pretty good John...WOW
Definitely had a skirt originally. Also arms mounted to the front and closed to hide the drawer. Looks better now for sure.
