  • Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast is a Premier Rides LIM launch coaster found at both Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Over Texas. This ride blasts riders backwards from 0 to 70 mph through some intense elements like an inverted top hat, overbank, and vertical spike. The ride had a lot of technical issues that delayed its opening a full year, but the coaster is new the coolest coaster at Six Flags.

One of my home parks is Six Flags St. Louis and this coaster was actually a GP Nightmare for me. I am going to sound a little GP when I talk about this so try not to cringe. Growing up and my childhood going to Six Flags St. Louis, I knew nothing of coasters and I saw Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast for the first time. It scared the living sh.., noodles out of me. All I saw was a huge blue loop thing that twists and goes backwards, of course I am referring to the inverted top hat but this was what I thought as an average human. And I saw a huge turn around (overbank) and that spike. That spike scared me more than anything just looking at it, I was scared at that time just watching Ninja go threw its loop, imagine how I felt when I saw that 218 ft, vertical, drop that pulls you up higher and higher and drops you straight down at 70 mph. This coaster is a masterpiece, it is really good but does so so so well with mixing in the feeling with adrenaline and fear. Just standing in front of that massive scary snowman head with his mouth open and ice cream cones on both sides and a massive 218 ft vertical spike in the background just terrified me. I will never forget that picture. Thanks for reading this comment and keep up the great work.

Something that really adds to this ride for me at the start is that I've learned to listen for these four "tss" sounds that travel from front to back beneath the train before the launch that I think are the motors getting ready or something like that. It's always that followed by the op's quip of choice and then off you go.

Mr Freeze was one of my first truly big coasters when I first rode it in 2003. Going into that visit, I thought Titan would easily be the best ride in the park, but Mr Freeze blew me away and overtook Ultra Twister as my new # 1. Changing to the backwards launch makes it even better, not just for the reverse launch, but also with the spike. Some days, it's still my favorite ride at Six Flags over Texas. It runs neck and neck with New Texas Giant. I love launches, even the less powerful ones, and this kind of intensity is right up my alley.
