Advise I have heard from a good engineer - never master to the levels always go higher. They can only turn you down! Get a meter and check to see what others in your genre are currently mastering to. PA plugins I I own the lot so yes love them but they are not the be all end all.
What do you think, guys, about Stealth Limiter by IK? I find using Master Match by IK as the final limiter, not as a matching eq. You add it, and it keeps the sound -0.3.
I've been using Stealth Limiter for a while, it's probably my second favorite limiter I've used (more in a minute) and I highly recommend it. I only stopped using it because I now do limiting through Brainworx bx_masterdesk True Peak, which contains a version of this plugin without the coloration of the sound the standalone True Peak limiter has. I'd grab bx_masterdesk if you can (only $17 right now!), but you really can't go wrong with Stealth Limiter either. It's very transparent and intuitive.
@@Stourbridgestudios You could definitely get a big fat brick of a waveform if you wanted to by pushing the input and lowering the output ceiling accordingly. Though, you'd want to add some gain compensation after that process.
@@frogbot I like stealth limiter, but it's no good as a final brickwall/true peak limiter. It always pushes a few decimels of a db over the ceiling when you analyze it. You'll need up needing an additional limiter.
@@Stourbridgestudios I think it really depends on the ceiling; I just pushed it until the waveform was nothing more than a solid chunk, ceiling set to -1db. Put a second different limiter on and it wasn't catching anything over that. Only reason why I could guess you're getting any clipping is if you're leaving the out ceiling at 0db. Most limiters will still have a chance to peak if the out is set at 0 (including True Peak and the aforementioned bx_masterdesk), general rule of thumb is set to -0.1db but I always set to -0.3 to be safe and no complaints so far. If that's not it, then it's anyone's guess - I'm certain it's not the limiter itself though, it's always the last thing on my chain and I'm notoriously uptight about not peaking past the threshold. :)
I feel like it's the only limiter that actually limits for me.

I bought it a while back but I'm not convinced, it gives distortion while TDR and Fabfilter still remain clear on that level. Not using it much.
Agreed I use toneboosters and tdr both are more transparent
Didn’t do it for me. L2 still rules. Or I just use the clipper on the Inflator. Best review ever. Deserves a Granny!

Stealth limiter doesn't brick wall limit.

Okay, a limiter is a very, very fast compressor with infinite ratio. Means, it won't let peaks pass over a given threshold.
