1290 SAS and T7 owner here, I agree on the perceived top heaviness, it definitely dips into the turns better than my SAS (kitted for off-road use as well). Feels controlled and planted while doing so. My worries about the T7 being top heavy have completely faded because of this. Seen others saying the same thing. Only other bike I was considering was the Transalp, but it would have taken more to get it off road ready imho.
SAS is basically the same so yeah, you know what i mean. That’s another reason the T7 is my choice. So many parts available and with a few mods you can either hit the trails or even turn it into a long haul road bike if you want to.
Was a strong contender when I bought my T7. Ultimately, I went with proven reliability as I ride alone a lot. No dealers close to me either. The whole T7 community seems more pleasant as well. 😄
@@genxgamerdad71 Am not sure where you are based, but in the UK, the Tuareg community is pretty friendly, but on one of the bigger forums for Aprilia, it can be a bit toxic, bickering and rudeness.. that is a USA based forum, but has members from all over the world. I'm lucky, I have a dealership I trust just 30min from me pretty much... sadly Aprilia are not great at getting parts out to customers from Italy... been waiting 2 months just for some front wheel bearings on my 660
Yes the dealer network is another reason I passed on the Tuareg. They seem to be pretty reliable though. There were some minor issues at first but they got it ironed out.
Thanks bud, yes I do agree. My buddy is looking at the 701 and so am I. It’s a hard decision between that and the 500. Something a little easier to load in the truck and burn out across the country without a dern trailer.
@@BigDaveTALKS i wanted just a little more weight because i need to ride where i'm going, usually that is, holds more gas down low, rade garage and rottweiler makes great upgrades, and i like the quick shifter off road, its basically a thing of weight, both motors are great, but husky does make heated grip for the 701, i have some coming lol
Yeah i would definitely have to get a bigger fuel tank if i get the 500 and I know what you mean about the weight. Unfortunately I have a minimum of between 500 to750 miles to get to some really good riding terrain. So loading a smaller bike would be much more efficient. The 701 would still be easier than the T7 I would assume.
New springs, a few change on clicks and now it’s great. Tall rider, I’m 6’3, rally seat, lowering foot pegs kit and bar risers and it’s perfect. Acerbic tank makes the bike top heavier than stock only if it’s full, if you put only 4,3 gallons, it‘s lighter by 3 lbs.
For full economy, I think you have a heavy right hand 😂😂😂. Riding normal pace and no highway, 50 mpg. Other point people does not understand, wind protection will be never good, no matter what you try, it will be worst. Kept it stock and you will have clean air. My Klim Krio pro is super stable so no problem with wind
Inceease your smiles per mile … get rid of that CAT Open the air box …Send ecu to 2WDW for the reflash Then when you need new chain go with the 520 conversion +1 tooth in rear. LFG 🤘🤘🤘
😆🤘Already did most of it, but i went with the Power Vision from Dyno Jet. With all the sand i will be doing the 520 conversion next. Not going to mess with the +1 though. I do a lot of 80/85mph riding and I don’t want to kill the fuel mileage. I don’t mind the gearing as it is anyway. It would be much better in the sand though
That’s the beauty of this bike. One can build it to do whatever one desires and have the reliability backing it up. Sure it’s not perfect, but it sure is close IMO. Hey I’m getting close to that much $$ in mine. Once i get the new wheel set i think i’m done. I have the 6.1 gallon fuel tank but took it off after my big trip this year.
This is very good advice and review.
hey thank you, i appreciate it.

Looks like a nice bike and offers everything a beginner would need with several accessory options. Nice video!
Thanks bud. Yeah just a couple mods and still cheaper than most of the others. Not too much power but plenty for loads of off road shenanigans.
I would have seriously considered the T7 had the Tuareg not appeared! 🙂

I totally understand and i was considering it as well. I probably didn’t get it for the same reason you did, it just sits too low for me😆.

@@BigDaveTALKS yup... and Aprilia support in the USA is not marvellous
its a cool bike for sure, that and the desert-x is the inbetween bike of the panny and the 701...

Go T7! Sounds like your 1290 might go bye bye eventually?
it's possible, but i still love that bike.
Its a very good bike to make it your own,! Have 5000 euro of options on mine! And its a weapon 😁 nothing i tryed can touch it in versatility

when the answer is TENERE, the question is YES.
