- Hi guys! This is kind of an overview of my commonplacing system. I apologize that this video is a couple days late! Ive been working a ton lately, and in the process of car buying (one of the most stressful processes of my life lmao) I hope you guys enjoy!

Ok, this is the video that finally convinced me to start a common place notebook, thank you for making it so appealing to an average person who doesn’t necessarily want to reflect on the meaning of life and philosophical things, but has a lot of interest and wants a place to spill everything about them. I’m definitely subscribing, amazing job, plus I love your aesthetic.

did you ever search what a commonplace book is? because its not necessarily either of the things you mentioned - wikipedia dexcribes it as 'a way to compile knowledge, usually by writing information into books.. they were often used by scholars and sometimes by women who were excluded from education but still wanted to learn

I honestly am still obessed with this flipthrough. You by far have my favorite video on commonplace books: it's super approachable and seems a bit less "polished" in the best way. Honestly any time I'm in a rut with wanting to put something in my book and want to put pen to page, I turn on your video! Seriously great job!

I have had a lovely letter press journal in this size with no clue what to do with it. It will now be my commonplace journal.
Thank you for the video, I have tried to watch some others explaining their commonplace systems but I always get lost in what they are saying. This was so easy to understand and also gave me a couple ideas

Turns out i just use my sketchbook as a commonplace book

hii thank you so much!! it’s just a normal printer :) i just print on sticker paper. very rarely ill use my canon ivy mini printer but that’s mostly just when i am traveling!

My commonplace notebooks look nothing like these. It looks like a torn up school notebook with random scribbles and doodles. I truly could get lost trying to find stuff in there

I love the ideas and things you include in your commonplace book! I add a lot of poems and quotes to my commonplace book and I've been trying to try out different types of journals. I also i guess have other "commonplace" books for spiritual and esoteric thoughts and one for writing notes lol. And sorry if I missed it but what type of printer do you use to print out the little pictures? 🥰

I started a journal recently inspired by all of the commonplace book videos I've been seeing, although mine mainly consists of thoughts I have throughout the day. I like flipping back through to see what I've been thinking, but i'm interested in adding a visual element as well. How do you go about adding photo's to your commonplace book? Excited about watching more of your content :)
Hello! Thank you for watching 🩷 I add photos by printing them on sticker paper or glueing them with regular paper. I lay out the things i like to print in canva :)

thank you so much! i’m so happy they could inspire you. 🩷 the paper is from one of those 12 inch by 12 inch scrapbooking paper pad packs! It’s the brand recollections and the name of the pack specifically is dark academia! I can’t remember if i got it at micheal’s or hobby lobby, but i hope this helps :)

Love this , where did you get all your stickers.
i’ve collected them from different places over the years, so i can’t remember where i got some of them. if there are specific stickers you’re interested in let me know, though, because i might remember especially if they’re more recent :)
i’m less than halfway through this video so you might mention it in the video but how do you print out and stick stuff into it? like the screenshot of the text message? do you have a special printer to print out stickers from your phone or do you just print it with a normal printer and then glue them in?
i upload them to canva! i put all of the things i’d like to print out on one like, project that is the size of a regular piece of paper, then i can play around and resize the images to fit. i usually print them out on sticker paper. you could also print them on regular paper and then glue them though! 🩷

Ok im so confused bw a journal and commonplace now. Bc i already write journals which look a lot like your commonplace but i came across this term recently and i feel like it would be redundant to start another notebook which i would strictly call it a commonplace rather than a journal but, i know I'll find it hard to track two books at a time and at the same time i like the concept of writing ideas found on the internet in a book in one common place as the nane suggests ;_;
hello! at the time, i used these notebooks as both a commonplace and a journal! i just kind of jumbled everything into one book. i’m sorry i didn’t explain very well 🩷
I think one of the main appeals of keeping journaling and notes/information separate is that you have one book you don’t want anyone to read because it could have ‘secret things’ and one book that you can be more relaxed with because it’s just your notes with commentary and you don’t care if someone else reads it.

What printer do you use? That's gotta be $$$ printing ink
i use a canon pixma tr4720! i can usually get a two pack of ink for $30. And those usually last me at least three or four months! :)
