You just got yourself a new sub. Been looking into Star Citizen for years now, never knowing half the stuff you post. This is excellent work. Keep it up!
Those are repair arms, not tow cables. Great video all in all. Towing isn't out, but it has not been implemented thus far in the existing design. If I find references later, Ill edit them in.
If you want to read about them discussing towing i found this helpful, Q&A with the devs robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15088-Anvil-Crucible-Q-A
It has come to my attention that this game will need a pretty in depth tutorial system. It is doing a LOT that people normally don't ever do in video games, like actually repairing stuff with differentiating materials, or working as a team to direct shields and manage power output.
My "out-of-my-ass" guess is that Squadron 42 (single player) will have side/mini quests that acts as tutorial for the different careers (game mechanics) in the Persistent Universe (MMO); as S42 will probably have a story line with the main quest focusing on dog fighting. If I'm not mistaken, completing S42 will grant you citizenship for the Verse (PU) although S42 is optional and can be skipped: diving head first into the PU... Respect to those who have the balls to do this on their first characters. Then again, as usual, I could be disappointed and easily be wrong af.
Probably would be ideal to have interactive tutorials and such with voice acting. Example, you go to the main menu, click tutorials, click repairing, click basic, intermediate, or advanced, and then you will be ported to a personal instance in a hanger with a ship. A voiced character along with text will appear and go step by step how to fix components, what materials you need, etc. At the end, they will give a sort of timed trial, with components breaking apart at a steady pace while you are just fixing up others. Keep the (simulated) ship alive for as long as you can and you will be scored based on how fast and well the repairs were made. After that, the tutorial would end, and you could click on another, like advanced, and find out how to fabricate new wings and stuff with repair arms and such machines. At least, that's what my ideal would be. Understandably that is a LOT of effort, time, and money spent on many many tutorials. Breaking them down to 3 difficulty levels and then multiplying those by the number of little jobs you can have, we looking at roughly 30-60 interactive tutorials.
Despite being a TEAM based game I am hoping to make a few friends in-game, most of my friends will not play this, they only like FPS's. BTW:: You should get a commission, since I am going to buy into this game thanks to this video in particular! Great Video...sub'd!
Welcome! No commission needed, i can try to post a promotional code though, maybe ill do that. We both get credits i believe. Sorry to hear your friends wont join but to be honest, i always make new friends with every game i play and its always fun to meet new people! Best advice is always use that proximity chat :)
Hey! Enjoy the videos! I'd like to point out something though: It's a common misconception that the minerals you mine yourself don't cost anything. They do! They cost time. Or, in more economic terms, they have an opportunity cost. If you can mine 100 UEC per hour but make 300 UEC an hour repairing ships, you have cost yourself 200 UEC for every hour you mine instead of repair. It would be better to simply buy the materials and spend your time repairing. Even if you ignore the time involved, the materials have a certain market value you could have sold them for. You give this up by using them in a repair. None of this matters if you are having fun doing both, of course. But in terms of raw economics there is always a cost/benefit aspect to every action, or lack of action.
Anton Short i found a couple good ones that got me started. I stopped playing it because I bought the mustang, and the glitches were just making the game unplayable.
Great video, you deff deserve more subs. The way you are doing your videos i think it would be nice to see you cover more aspects of the game, so go for it... ;) P.S. I think the thumbs down says it all (at least atm) 113:0!
Great video as ever, always top content. Can't wait until the game comes out in full, I can certainly see your channel taking off ! Best of luck to you.
DUDE AWESOME. Just when i thought this game couldn't get anymore immersive. I imagine them coming up with a Large multi-crew repair ship with Multiple repair arms to fix larger ships from all sides. side note - I wonder if one would get in trouble for repairing a Wanted/Pirate ship? hmm..
Nice done! I have to say that I had to read 4 or 5 times until get a little ideia how mechanics will work. I dont know that mechanics on large ships had changed. I got sad to know that their thinking about use drones. But, it still early in the game. It can be changed again! hehehe. Well, another great video. And again, sorry about my english, even today that a dont have google translater help to make some corrections! hehehehe Big hugs!
Just curious. If repairing takes up so much time, resources and money to hire someone. Wouldn't it be better to blow the ship up and claim on insurance
Thank you for these videos, I am watching all your videos right now. You have earn a subscriber. Keep up the good. P.S. If you're up to it or ran out of ideas, why not splash around in the lore of Star Citizen
hi critacorn I've been a fan since the beginning!! I remember I once told you your voice is wonderful for youtube, I'm glad to see everything is going well with your channel!!
The depth and detail on the workings of all the different trades/roles in SC is amazing. However it is a double edged sword and something i worry about. It seems devs are overdoing it, too many intertwined mechanics make the various trades seem complex, tedious and a grind with all the various 'minigames' and how the different trades are all connected and reliant on other economies & activities. I dig the idea of realism but i question the need for so much reality in a game. It is coming to the point where taking a role in game turns into a job like in real life. The concept might seem cool at first but then it turns into nothing but novelty and finally frustration upon realization that you have a 2nd job after work hours.
Well thank you for the comment, I am not sure I could run an Org, I joined a bigger one but am still not sure if i fit in. If i do find one ill certainly let you all know where I found a home or if i make one in the end :)
The thing that sort of blows my mind is that the combat in this game is NOT what I'm being sold on, and instead am found daydreaming what an explorer might find or how satisfying it would be to run a repair ship with friends and help total strangers.
Hey man gotta say these videos are fairly informative. This is what I want to get into eventually and may work my way in game to get the ship. Til then though I will gladly work in mining and trading.
Not sure why this got recommended today but its kinda depressing to see how long has passed and we still don't have the most basic tier 1 of repairs yet.
Thank you very much, while im wrapping up my latest video for the career series in a couple days i hope you enjoy my future videos, im still not sure i can pull off the "Ship" discussions as well as others but we will see.
It's a big risk that will depend on the programming of the game. Now ship simply disappear when destroyed. Otherwise, you can fly to the closest repair center. I hope the Crucible will be available for test before SC goes live.
Fantastic keep up the with your vids mate. As i was a little worried about this aspect of the game as you know from the Team Speak chats we have had. Now you have explained it like that i cant wait to get my hands on it nice one J. Keep up the good work ;-)
I am not sure how repairing is going to be fun for a long term. Are people just going to hang out and wait for users to repair. Isnt their only 30 people per instance/server
I believe its going to be around 100, but this could go up dramatically as the game further developers. 90% of the universe will be AI. CR has said he doesn't want this game to feel empty, so no matter where you go there will always be hundreds of ships flying around you that are not scripted! Something new everyday!
Good, he ship vids are also great btw. I really see this as helping people find their way into the game and understand why it's so different and how much you will be able to do in SC.
That's how I feel about raiding in WoW - to this day I have never done it. So, I can see how you feel that way, especially if you're totally new to the game. If so, welcome citizen - fly safe and see you in the Verse. o7
Well, we're all new players heh. None of this is available yet. But keep in mind, this is all voluntary. You don't have to do repair jobs like this, someone else can do it, or you can have some AI company do it.
excellent video I really like your style you got a perfect voice for RUclips
Thank you very much, i personally dislike hearing my voice lol
If you dislike your voice then I'm not sure how any voice could be liked.
You just got yourself a new sub. Been looking into Star Citizen for years now, never knowing half the stuff you post. This is excellent work. Keep it up!
Nice work and another very helpful explanation.
I have a feeling i'm almost going to live in the Star Citizen universe.
I'm already living there. Alpha 2.6 just came out and I dive daily into videos, etc all about SC -. So I share your sentiments..
Those are repair arms, not tow cables. Great video all in all. Towing isn't out, but it has not been implemented thus far in the existing design. If I find references later, Ill edit them in.

Another great vid, loving the series!
Thank you so much! Its such a big relief to see a comment that your enjoying the video :)
Great Video I watch you all the time keep up the great work
thank you, very useful and understandable
i... swear! i'll play this game soo hard :D
You better or you will face the consequences, citizen.
=D
great video

This game has an absurdly difficult point of entry.
I have NOOOOOOOOOOOOO idea what Im doing, is there a good tutorial video?
There are lots of videos out there doing tutorials.....and you might find this site helpful...

Anton Short i found a couple good ones that got me started.

crouch before getting in that mustang

wow just stumbled over this. best channel about star citizen. You basically explained the game to me without any hype. subbed and highly appreciated.
Thanks for the sub and glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow, what a great video! I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel! Subbed!
Thank you very much! Glad the video helped, repairing certainly can be intimidating at first glance.
Great video as ever, always top content. Can't wait until the game comes out in full, I can certainly see your channel taking off ! Best of luck to you.

Liking your vids CC. You sound like a natural at this, keep it up. Sub'd

Link in the video description of the info.

Thanks for expanding my brain beyond its historically withered limits :)
Some of the most informative videos out there that I have found. Really quality work and I've been sharing the videos around :)
Good video sir. Clear and concise; should help anybody wishing to learn or brush up on this mechanic. Thanks.
You had me at "chemistry class." I will be doing this. :)
Subbed. I enjoy your videos and the way in which you deliver the information. Best of luck to your channel!
hi critacorn I've been a fan since the beginning!! I remember I once told you your voice is wonderful for youtube, I'm glad to see everything is going well with your channel!!
Excellent quality videos man, I hope your channel really blooms.
YASSSSSS. You saved me the time and effort to reading and understanding all these professions! xD
Tugboat? Excellent. That will prove very useful.

You are making awesome info videos. Thank you so much for breaking things down.
Are you going to make your own organisation, if so I'd like to join it and I think others would as well.
Well thank you for the comment, I am not sure I could run an Org, I joined a bigger one but am still not sure if i fit in. If i do find one ill certainly let you all know where I found a home or if i make one in the end :)
+CritaCorn well then good luck in finding the right one for your
The thing that sort of blows my mind is that the combat in this game is NOT what I'm being sold on, and instead am found daydreaming what an explorer might find or how satisfying it would be to run a repair ship with friends and help total strangers.
I figured this would just be a special function of the salvageing carrer
great videos mate, cant wait to play this game, thank you for your videos.
Very glad you're making these videos man. Thanks a lot/
Can you talk about racing because I’ve loved all your other vids so it would be awesome to find out info on racing in star citizen
Great video, thanks. Maybe one day I can afford the time and money to play this game x)
I think you laid it out in a pretty understandable way. Great video!

Thank you very much, while im wrapping up my latest video for the career series in a couple days i hope you enjoy my future videos, im still not sure i can pull off the "Ship" discussions as well as others but we will see.
Awesome video, keep up the work mate!
I really liked the explanation!
Great video! Thanks

Can you talk about policing?

Crucible is planned for Alpha 4.0...so yes, but not for a long time...
Thanks for the readers digest
Interesting ... interesting indeed!
much appreciated. tks
Fantastic keep up the with your vids mate. As i was a little worried about this aspect of the game as you know from the Team Speak chats we have had.
Now you have explained it like that i cant wait to get my hands on it nice one J.
Keep up the good work ;-)
What? No! We must never repair our ships and end up just floating around in our seats :P
great video keep it the good work
Nice vid once again!! :)
I am so looking forward to ship repair. Can't wait to try out my Crucible and any specialized tool to assist in repairs.
Ship repair will be apparently available in Alpha 3.2, the Crucible will be apparently available in Alpha 4.0

Look forward to seeing moore vids from you and i will certainly point new players your way. These are great videos for the community.
Thank you for comment! To here you enjoyed it keeps me wanting to make more :)
Good, he ship vids are also great btw. I really see this as helping people find their way into the game and understand why it's so different and how much you will be able to do in SC.
These videos are top notch man thanks :)
Thank you :)
You made this so much more easier to understand
I was so confused myself for a while and am so glad i could help make it easier for players to understand!
this game is insanely complex
That's how I feel about raiding in WoW - to this day I have never done it.
So, I can see how you feel that way, especially if you're totally new to the game.
If so, welcome citizen - fly safe and see you in the Verse. o7
Wow, this game is starting to sound more hostile to new players.
Well, we're all new players heh. None of this is available yet. But keep in mind, this is all voluntary. You don't have to do repair jobs like this, someone else can do it, or you can have some AI company do it.
Plenty of jobs for everyone. From complex stuff like repairs, to simple dogfighting and trading.
