    The depot area looks to have a lot of operational potential Jason. I can see why you are pleased with it. Having the bridge in place and weathered really added to the realism in the final shot of the train passing over it. I think your instinct to mover the water column is right. I think it would make more sense to have it by the coaling stage to allow the crew to do both at the same time. Stephen

      Thanks for the comments Stephen. It certainly makes the area pop. On the home stretch towards the scenery

    Great progress! The high quality of your work inspires me. I do believe that is the first high rail bus I’ve ever seen! Nothing like that here in Colorado USA!

      Thanks Randy. They are not in service anymore. These were known as Paybus, as they use to deliver the employees pay along the south coast line, back when cash in envelopes where used..cheers

    Hi Jason , great video, you've got the weathering just right , I was thinking you could have laid on the bottom level to do the wiring 😂😂😂😂😂😂

    Hi Jason, well swearing underneath the layout has become a pastime in itself, I myself have recently and still am swearing away underneath the boards whilst I continue building the Lower level!!!! 🤬🤬🤯
    You’ve certainly been busy in the last month and I really like the design of the depot area. The weathering of the bridge and turntable is fantastic Jason, I can’t wait to see how it will all fit in with the scenery.
    Hope all is well with you, cheers for now mate, John

      Hi John, yes indeed, swearing is a great outlet at times lol. Thanks, I am really happy how that level has shaped and formed. The weathering was great to break up the constant build process and love the layering process of it..cheers

      Hi Sparky, this was the first turntable install for me. They seem pretty straight forward with the instructions and template supplied. The next step is finishing the wiring and then I will tackle the programming

    Hi ya Jason. Great update. The weathering on the bridge and the turntable look great. A question. That beautiful cranberry and cream loco that you showed running a couple of times…….it that considered a Railbus? I love it. Thanks in advance for the reply. I’m glad you include a steamer on your layout. Take care. See ya next time.

      Hey Norman, thanks for the comments. They are known as Paybus. As the name suggests, it ran along the South Coast line delivering rail employees pay cheques. Back in the day when cash in an envelope was the norm...cheers

    Jason, it looks like your turntable is a Walthers one (made by Heljan). If that is the case do NOT use an 18VDC power supply. The controller doesn't like more than 16 volts, yes the voice of experence! My initial installation used a power supply that was about 16.5 V and the controller overheated and failed. I would recommend 14V, certainly no more than 15V. You could use a DC to DC buck converter on your current power supply to get an output in the 14V range saving the expense of a new power supply. I hope you get it going without letting out the magic smoke 😎

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment

      That is interesting Jaguar, given the instructions are stating 16 - 24VDC or 12 - 16VAC. How long ago did you experience this issue? Cheers

    • @68Jaguar420G
      @68Jaguar420G 2 года назад +1

      @@JasonWood_Escarpment This happened about 2 years ago and it was an installation on a friend's layout. He had purchased the turntable "a while ago" so no telling the actual "new- old-stock age and hence production run. That could very well have been a factor. Start at a lower voltage and work up if you find the bridge is turning too slowly. Just a data point from another modeller for you to consider.

    Hi Jason, looking great, I am building a 3 level layout similar to yours, Victorian themed. I am also installing the sound deadening material and was wondering what you used as adhesive?

  • @josazzo

    Nice, I wish I had so much room. What is the grey material under the track?

    • @JasonWood_Escarpment
      @JasonWood_Escarpment  2 года назад +1

      Hi Joseph, yeah I am very fortunate to be in this position. But I remember saying the same thing many years ago. It material is a 2mm felt type material, helps with deadening the high pitched sounds to let more bass come through when running trains..regards
