Something that surprised me on the bench assembly was the amount of play the bench pads have when you put the bolts in the back - I had to get a tape measure to verify it was centered or very close before tightening down. Could say the same thing about the rails, didn't expect as much play in those either. We did loosen up the rails, put some pressure down on them so they should be seated down where they should be, and then tightened them up. The washer issue - I was only able to use one of the washers that I painted black. When I tried to use them on the rails, the thickness was too much where the bolt was not getting to the nylon portion of the nylon locknut - o well.
@@NoFate247 o for sure. Just saying as you put them on, have the bolt and but still loose, they can wiggle some. Hence why they say don’t tighten down until the end.
@@NoFate247 of course! I got my ticket as soon as it was available and we are going to stream Kurt’s strongman show for him as well as repeating our coverage of the deadlift party like we did last year. Great review. For me, i went with the white blackwing. I like doing decline bench, decline sit ups. The BW is so much maneuverable than the original zero gap. It might be heavier than original, but the handle and weight distribution is so much better on the BW. And chamging the pad heights are so much easier. Hreat upgrade for me.
Another great video! I’m torn between the 4100, 5200, and blackwing… cost is not an issue because it will be a one and done scenario. This helps… now to just get past the personal indecision!
Love those buttery B-Rolls and bench comparisons. I'm waiting to see if Rep releases AB-4100 2.0 or clear coat color options in near future. Appreciate the breakdowns and recommendation!
Great video! I got an AB 3.0 a couple years ago. Few comments. Positives: Very stable, long where I can lay flat on the back pad and not worry about the gap, lots of adjustments, pad seems awesome. Don't feel the gap at all, think the bolt or connection is recessed. Critiques: 18'' high - wish all benches were 17'', I work out a lot in my socks and even though I'm not short at 6', I do mind the height. I don't use the foot catch in my training so it's collecting dust. The actual adjustment angles are random (not even numbers). Would prefer more of a tripod design for my benching setup, but I wonder if that would sacrifice stability. Wish the bench would stand up vertically on its own (or was designed to)..... I may pick up a flat bench at some point and I'm probably going to wait to see what Titan releases for their Titan series flat bench in the near future.
yEAH titan has a number of products set to release, hoping they all deliver. I def. think most benches in the future will be able to be stored upright.
Awesome review, bro. I generally try and purchase American Made but the 2x cost of going with the MantaRay doesn’t seem worth it. How would you compare the 5200 2.0 to the Rogue Adjustable Bench 3.0? From watching your reviews I think you’d still say go 5200 but the costs are comparable.
Yeah I think the rep looks better than the 3.0 but the rogue is obviously a great bench with some color options. If you usually like American made then definitely go rogue since they are so close
After watching and re-watching the AB5200 2.0 and Black Wing video I finally pull the trigger on the Black Wing with your link. Originally I was all for the AB5200 2.0 but went for the Black Wing for the attachment.
Great review. I own the BlackWing in blue and I totally love it. I decided on the BW because I wanted the leg roller attachment. I do all my abdominal work on it. I love the zero gap feature as well. It is a heavy bench, but at 54 yo I can move it around without any issues. Thanks again.

Great review, as always! I went with the Blackwing because I heard rumors of Rep putting out a leg curl attachment. However, I kinda wish I went with the 5200 2.0 because I'm not crazy about the zero gap feature. Even though I tighten the piss outta the locking mechanism, it still shifts when I'm shoulder pressing and incline pressing heavy. Also, I actually prefer a gap especially when laying back with 130+lb dumbbells. Feeling the gap gives me that assurance that I'm properly lined up. For me, the set-up is the most concerning part of that exercise, that's where alot can go wrong.
I like the blackwing and thought it was solid. For the incline OHP dumbells, I notched the seat up one angle to help force my lower back against the pad. But yeah the 5200 2.0 just looks and feels so good. If the leg curl attachment comes out that might change things but if's and buts! What's your next home gym pick up?
