@Jimmy’s Model Trains they have actually made it so that batteries on the newer models are much harder and expensive to replace now. a 10 year old ev will go like 30 miles per charge lmao
@Jimmy’s Model Trains Model s has been out for a decade and degradation tests are out for them. 160k miles and a degradation of range of 11%. If there was vehicle powered by an EV motor driving a standard transmission I would be more excited for these things taking over.
I have a few things to bring into discussion. First because it is a quick point, the Ford Maverick is just the modern Ford Courier. Which I have modded a few, and am so excited about (hope chevy brings back the LUV). Next, I have been a fan of some Hyundai models for about a decade now. The Elantra GT has been chasing Saab’s and GTI’s for 20 years. I clearly remember Donut doing full episodes on the Veloster N, and currently the small growing underground tuning scene is KDM, not a lot of aftermarket support, so those that are moding their Korean cars are doing so in the most traditional way, making things work. You cannot go o a single website and order everything to completely transform your stock JDM to a 1000hp drift missile. Maybe Donut should do a Money Pit, or something on building out something Korean or at least non-traditional. Without JZ or LS swapping, since those are so saturated in the scene (car scene and RUclips).
I have a maverick in Brazil, and tbh it is the best car that Ford sells out here. Same engine as the fusion and awd? Just perfect and it is great for off roading.
2013+ Taurus SHOs and MKS Ecoboosts are a lot of fun too, with potential to make almost 600 horsepower with stock internals while also being all wheel drive

The problem I have with the idea of a cheap project Tesla or Mustang Mach E is the batteries. I don't ever see the batteries for a Tesla becoming cheap, maybe the Mach E but I'm still doubtful
What the current turbo four Mustang really is is a throwback to the SVO. There’s even an episode of “Junkyard Empire” where they take the engine out of a wrecked one and put it in an SVO.
Our collision repair shop just received Tesla certification-our staff is well-round-minded? (Muscle, DTM JDM, Hybrid)…We’re excited for the new tech, but have our reservations. A colleague’s father has a Maverick on lease as a company car and loves it. I drive a gen-9 Accord V6 coupe 6-speed and want to upgrade. Our three mechanics own monster Dodges. Another tech’ dropped the forbidden LS into his Genesis. We all argue make and model and power, but when it comes down to it-it’s how the car makes you feel. If it excites something in you-if you look back at her more than just checking lights to know she’s locked-it’s love. I hope the next generation appreciates that…
It’s theproject car of today they’re going to be rare stock because 90% of the people who buy them mod them they’re probably going to be rare and expensive once the next generation mods the shit out of them
The charger is already an affordable working man's fun car. I think the future is bright for it. We'll see some awesome projects and some weird ones. But I'm thankful for Dodge's contribution to fun gasoline-powered cars
The only reason I haven't started is because I'm 12. I've always like cars and I still do. The only thing kind of driving me away from them is the thought of EVs and all that. Even without EVs, a lot of new cars are too techy, even though technology is one of my favorite things. Another weird thing about me is the fact that I'm a car guy, Moto guy, and truck guy. 🤷🤷 Love the content, keep it up. You guys have earned a place in my heart and have driven me to love cars even more. And as my favorite car channel, I hope you guys see this. 😁😁😁
My current project car is a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro, it's actually my first car I bought in 2005. I'm performing an LS3 swap, as well as from 4L60E to T56 Magnum. It's gonna be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiick
For the charger, the pentastar v6 can hold like 10 psi safely, apparently 400whp is easy to get whilst being relatively safe, a ebay turbo build in like 10 years would be sick
We've yet to see how the Mustang EV will hold up to the test of time. Batteries degrade and new tech makes these cars obsolete fast. I don't think it'll be the one
I also don't like this one, if it was more like the one that Ken Block drifted, I think I will be fine. It has a manual and sound (you may not like them, but they could maybe change it). Acceleration of the electric car also will make it more more fun. Mine only problem if the lack of tuning options. However, if batteries like K-ion (cheep, have higher voltage, can storage a lot of energy and can use it all, and have long lifespan, if you treat them right, but it should always be cooled down) or li-air (can storage insane amount of electricity, but lose half of it during the releasing and needs air sucking systems to operate) make their way, we could potentially tune EVs. It's not like it is going to feel like an ICE car, but at least they wouldn't be boring.
Plus, EVs are designed for and by people who don’t care about cars. People who see cars as an (possibly annoying) appliance rather than a *car*. I don’t see a lot of aftermarket support or hype for any or most EVs other than wannabe rich kids hyping up their car with an oversized IPad and bumpers that quick release in puddles. To me, EV lovers are one step away from being a r/FuckCars browser.

Every 4th car is a truck because it's a rural area with farms, unpaved roads, and bad weather. You can't not have a car out there.
you guys need to do a series where the presenters compete against each other to buy a $5000 car with the most horsepower, then each week you get $1000 to turn it into the best drift, drag, time attack etc. car. Just an idea that would be sick to see.
A little similar to TFL series where they each spend 2500 on an offroader and compete against each other. I agree, that general idea will always make a good series
I am a proud owner of a 2022 Maverick and without a doubt, this truck is gonna be the next S10/Syclone. I do have one pet peeve though: The 8-speed transmission I have with my 2.0L Ecoboost is rather annoying. The gear ratio is too short and downhill deceleration leaves my heart racing a-bit that I have to gradually double brake for the gears to align with my stopping distance, BUT!... in "Sport" mode the power is insane; gear selection is active; and stiffening of the suspension makes for a great experience driving (even in the city).
for the Mach E, it’s all computers. It’s not gonna be fun to work on them bc all you have to do is code them. for the actual muscle car, you can swap engines and tune the crap out of them. By tightening bolts and swapping parts, that is what makes a project car a project car
12:07 My ideal small truck would be the bed is juuuust big enough to fit a single pallet of stuff from a warehouse on it, with mount points for ratchet straps. You really don't *need* anything bigger than that in 95% of cases outside of something your job requires.

as an european we can allready forget the first 3 you talk about, sadly those are rare here for the beginning, and they are not cheap AT ALL. and even worse, they are banning combustion engines everywhere... and EVEN WORSE: some countries like germany and england at least let you mod classics to electrify them (some will say that its a blasphemy) but here in france a law forbids any engine change in cars. even if it will actually save 2 cars for going to the junkyard and save nature as second hand project

What I hope to see some day is cars that DON'T have all the "features" and such (apple car play, bluetooth connectivity, sport modes, blindspot sensors, etc.) and are combustion engines with manual transmissions, generally just being a cheap, moddable platform. Problem with lots of modern cars is that they're so laden with features, there's so much complexity and so much that can break, and on a car you want to mod out and make a project car, it's just not really viable financially (unless you're able and willing to pour substantial amounts of money into this). Maybe there is stuff out there like that already, but I've never seen it.

I don’t feel like any current ev will carry through to being wanted in the future. Ev technology will likely improve a lot by then. Or hopefully go away.
With the coming onslaught of electrification coming, this does bring up an interesting point. Will the Model S and its variants need a modified 'vintage' car clause put on the books when 'motor swaps' and battery packs need upgrading? (Yeah, they probably don't have that kind of shelf life beyond even 5 years, however one can hope SynGas becomes a thing.) God, the very idea sickens me, but that's the way of the future *gag*
@@samjohannes9969 The idea has been around a long time (I believe I looked into it in the late 90s, but even before then) of refining coal into gasoline (SynGas is the industry generic term), as the US has extensive coal deposits and the gasification process isn't terribly difficult. It would have been a bridge from getting away from OPEC to the US self-fueling the energy market, but too many hands wanting 'grease' keeps it from going mainstream, among environmental issues of course.
I think EV motors will be the hot rods of the future--they're going to be easier to swap, methinks. You could just drop those motors out, and stick beastier ones in.

Yeah, MkV and up. The Jetta GLIs will also be a cheap option that has most of the same aftermarket support as the GTI. The GLIs can also still come in a manual as far as I know, and the DSG is a pretty quick shifting system for the price category.

I think VW GTIs, specifically 7th and 8th generations, will see a massive uptick in future projects. they’re all over the place, relatively affordable, 6 speed, with tons of potential.
I had a MK6 and eventually had it on a stage 2 APR tune and absolutely loved it, was my first and still only cool car I’ve owned but mine had to be a lemon, had like $5k in just repairs in less than a year, didn’t even race it or anything crazy, that alone makes me want to go nowhere near a German car until I got money money 😂 So maybe not the best for young ppl with no money but for sure cool cars for enthusiasts in general, I miss driving mine sorely
@@Lukemasonmedia sometimes they can be a crapshoot, but in the future when most of their common issues have fixes and there’s potentially a bigger community surrounding these, they might nestle into a similar spot as older m3s and BMWs of the sort.
Sorry to hear your mk6 gave you such a headache, they certainly aren’t cheap to fix if you can’t reasonably do it yourself. I’m just over 60k on my mk7 and it’s been going great, just some minor issues around 50k (electrical, because german car). Those motors can withstand a lot of abuse, it’s the rest of the components that mess up with modification. Added bonus is they look clean as hell with some minor changes.

@Jimmy’s Model Trains Model s has been out for a decade and degradation tests are out for them. 160k miles and a degradation of range of 11%.

Weird opinion: I actually really like the styling of the new Hyundai Santa Cruz
Not weird my friend it’s like a well refined Baja 🍷 🧀

Love to see Justin get more energetic on camera!!
For the charger, the pentastar v6 can hold like 10 psi safely, apparently 400whp is easy to get whilst being relatively safe, a ebay turbo build in like 10 years would be sick
That engine will be so unreliable 😂
We don't even have the means to properly recycle these batteries yet, this is E - waste taken to the extreme.

Really hoping the mini trucks make a comeback 🔥🔥🔥
for the Mach E, it’s all computers. It’s not gonna be fun to work on them bc all you have to do is code them. for the actual muscle car, you can swap engines and tune the crap out of them. By tightening bolts and swapping parts, that is what makes a project car a project car

With the coming onslaught of electrification coming, this does bring up an interesting point. Will the Model S and its variants need a modified 'vintage' car clause put on the books when 'motor swaps' and battery packs need upgrading? (Yeah, they probably don't have that kind of shelf life beyond even 5 years, however one can hope SynGas becomes a thing.)
