Xm3 owner here, I actually use the NFC almost every time I use the headphones. The NFC chip actually turns on the headphones and connects them, so I find it super convenient, though it may be less of an issue with multipairing which the mk3 lacks

I just love your reviews! Not only do you review the products in real life, but you give us a good snapshot of places in NY. Keep up the good work! By the way, purchased the xm4's about a week ago. I was able to get them at a discount, $100 less than their original price when they were launched. I'm loving them! Even if I hadn't purchased them at a discounted price, I don't see the advantage of upgrading. I agree with you, not liking the fact that xm5's don't fold. Not compact.

Here is the real issue with these products after 60 to 70 depends on output the audio quality drops a bit(i mean bass will drop treble will move up) 60 or 70 is perfect volume it's good for our ears to buy while watching the movie i felt it could have been little louder in if i increase the volume bass will drop cannot feel those jet engines and sound barriers etc i tried the same with buds and watched same scene i don't have that theatrical bass etc on buds (But if you have never used headphones go for buds blindly) they are awesome.

Thanks for the review. Always enjoyable. Particularly like your format...the coffee shop and introduction to a new area of NYC. For those of us who have never visited, it's good context and very interesting. As for the headphones, I suppose the next great thing is always around the corner, but do we need them? I remember reviews for the Mk4's which rated them highly. But here we are, a year later, and now the Mk5 is the 'must have'. Perhaps I am getting old and cynical but at what point do we say - 'Enough'. The wheels of commerce have to turn in a capitalist society, of course, innovation is a wonderful thing and without it you would be out of a job as a tech reviewer. But I do wonder about the rapidity of change and how much we actually need to make our lives better? I bought a Sony Android TV a while ago. It replaced a CRT TV that was still going strong after 20 years. The flatscreen lasted three years before Sony stopped updating the software - effectively rendering it useless. Built in obsolesence. I didn't realise it when I bought it. So I had to buy another TV after that. This relentless drive to the 'new' which makes even expensive consumer products redundant in a short period of time makes me wonder. I am looking for a new pair of headphones and the Mk5's seem to tick a lot of boxes. You have given them a good review. But how will I feel when the Mk6 comes out next year - with, I am guessing, foldaway headphones and waterproof casing. And how long will it be before they are redundant too? We are going into an economic recession with spiralling inflation and runaway energy costs. At some point, don't we have to say - 'STOP' - at least for a little while. Let's make the best of what we have and put a hold on throwaway consumerism? I am sure there will be many people out there who would love to know how they can extend the life of their tech and value what they have instead of being sucked into here today, gone tomorrow - into an ever growing landfill site. Sorry. I know this sounds preachy, but it struck me that these headphones are a good illustration of the point. Best of luck with the channel. You do a great job.

I will say i will wait patiently for the xm6 to come out. As now sony has seen the newest apple and bose designs & features, they have incentive to do even better all around with their new model. I am not really into headphones because I am aware of potential hearing loss if caution isn't exercised and once you lose your hearing its a done deal because you will not get it back. I do however own four of them. Among them are the Sennheiser PXC 550-II and a couple of weeks ago I purchased the XM5 to see what the buzz is about. They are nice and I do like them a lot. I don't like the app though. I also purchased the Sony NS7 neckband speakers as an alternative to wearing headphones constantly. Now those I really like a lot. They are way better than I thought they would be and I consider them money well spent. The sound is excellent and something different if you've never experienced them before.

My neighbors horribly plays loudspeakers at middle of night. Often I have to suffer the nonsense, disrupting my sleep and next day schedule. Will ANC help? I don't want to call cops or start a noise war.

Xm4 user, always use the NFC to start and pair it to the phone, so easy.

I'd disagree with the point about NFC, I thought it was ashame they removed NFC from the M5s, I used it on the M3 to pair it with my phone, so it is for sure a very useful feature to me.

You use it once and that's it. Why do you need a dedicated peice of NFC hardware for a one time thing that you won't ever use really? I like NFC as well but this use case does seem like a waste 🤷‍♂️

I Prefer and Like The Voice Prompts of the XM4 should be and voice prompts could be option in the headphone app option YES Sony

So, you took the advise to test ANC devices, lol, well this one's makes the MK4 cheaper as you said, so it's hard to think of it like a value option but adding some features and taking out the chatty notifications is good.
    Regardless, as always, video liked.

Do xm5s have a physical bass like xm4s? Or is it audible bass we get in mid range headphones because they have smaller 30mm drivers compared to xm4s.

And still there is one function they still do not understand. I want to charge them while I use them and why can we not use the USB-c cable to use the headphones? Why do I have to connect through an app on my phone to update the firmware? Sony needs to review and revise their ways to innovate these headphones.
