It’s true. You feel that you HAVE to use all the clubs in your bag, but it’s not the case. I could easily drop the 3 wood, Hybrid and 3 iron from my bag, not to mention the 64 degree wedge (😳😳😳). Take the stress out of picking the club and you’ll play less stressful golf. Great vid mate 👍🏻

My bag: 5w, 5i, 7i, 9i, GW, putter. I play to 8 handicap from senior tees. Hardly ever hit “full” shots. I love creating different shots. No way I could score better with more clubs. Great video.

I do the same thing all the time when I walk the back 9 with my Pops and his buddies on Sundays. I have played that course so many times that I realized I only need 6 clubs. Driver, 5, 7, 9, 56, and putter. I really enjoy your content from over here in the desert of Arizona! I grew up North of Seattle, so I know all about grey and misty days. Keep up the fun content!!

In my 20's I used to go to Arizona once a year to visit my folks. I'd bring my clubs and always end up getting paired with 3 old guys with Sunday bags and very few clubs. And they would just slaughter me. Still, it was always fun.

As others have said, I started with a half set when I was 13.
I can still hit all those clubs reasonably well, 5,7,9 and 3 wood.
It all went pear shaped when I added a driver.....still can't hit driver 47 years later!

Ball marker! The half set idea is a great one and one I enjoy too. Takes plenty of the decision making out of it and adds to the fun of the game. And Liam, I love your take on some of the songs you sing. I remember another Bolton man doing a misheard lyrics thing. He was almost as funny as you.
This is such a great way to play. My golf teacher , Yoda, The Ancient One, instructed me to play an entire round with only my 5 or 6 iron. Add clubs judiciously, one at a time. Presently 6 clubs, no woods including putter. Playing some of my best golf.
Before watching: I reckon you're gonna get par, I've got a good feeling about this one.
After watching: Ah 2 over, never mind, still some nice golf there. Would love one of those ball markers by the way 😊

Love the fact you've gone to a bag that I almost started with. Mine was 2 wood, 3 iron, 5 iron, 7 iron (Bobby Lock), 9 iron, putter ( and my Grandmother gave me my putter). That was about 50+ years ago. And I love the markers. As a guitar player many years ago, has the plectrum shape. Mat e market these to anyone that also plays guitar and you'll be cruiseing.

Hi Liam, ball marker- got my first ever eagle last week with a 1/2 set , driver ,5 iron , putter and wind did the trick. !! Thirty years of hurt, on and off golf, trying - love the channel , dustbin lid Lee is awesome to watch, a swing to die for . Enjoy the Masters all golfmates ....
I'm going to "try" to be confident! That's a tough one. Nice ball marker. It would look great in my bag and even better on the green!
Hi Liam. I have done the short set thing before. Most of us tend to pick 3 5 7 9 or 4 6 8 PW. Then a lofted wedge and putter. I like 5 7 9 Gap and 58 & adjustable 3 wood. Pencil bag is the way to go. Just check you balls and tees before heading out. :) I’d go with Snickers bar tho because of the healthy nuts!

Ball Marker! Controlled aggression is supposed to get the ball either in the hole or just past the hole. Today it was controlled regression. You looked like Liam from pre-Covid years. Still, it’s real golf and I love every minute of it!! 😜

I'd love a Ball marker .....I was struggling with longer clubs one month. My home track is a little over 6K so one day I left everything longer than a five iron in my truck I played 5 through GW 56 & 60 +putter. Best round of the year (78) and learned a valuable lesson! Be smart off the tee. Play with your head not your ego! Great vid Liam thanks PS It took real fortitude and game management to aim your pitch away from that pin on the par three ... Not sure I'm there yet!

I love this channel. After watching the “how to break 85” with OMP I shot an 84 the next round out. I play much looser and calmer after simply watching OMP and the others on this channel. Sending gratitude from the states 🇺🇸...i always pretend I’m playing in Scotland/Ireland in my mind

"Ball Marker" personally, playing with half a set, I find very liberating. It certainly, quite often clears up any doubts of "is it a six, of is it a seven iron?" Because, normally, one of those clubs is in the boot of the motor!! And lightweight as well, and often ill pay in a light-hearted way. Nice one Liam!!
Have been doing this a lot during lockdown (courses in Scotland have stayed open). It’s great training, quick play and good exercise.

I loved this video and how you made golf just look fun. For someone like me who is just getting started, it’s intimidating. I want to get better, but I also want to have fun and just enjoy being outside. As you have shown, I think not taking yourself too seriously is important. I really appreciate you not editing out the shots that didn’t quite go as planned. Sometimes I feel like going out and playing nine, but I’m afraid of getting paired up with one or two guys at a tee time who are too serious or are way better than me. I’m afraid they won’t have patience with a newbie and so I just don’t go.

There's a par 3 course near my house where all you need is a 9 iron, PW, 56 and a putter. Great for a quick 9 after work when Ontario finally opens up golf again.

Ball marker. Half set round is brilliant, an easy walk. Great 4 iron "Mother-in-Law" shot. Putter nickname "MacKenzie Slayer".
Love your videos Liam. Try a stronger grip with your irons. Turn that left hand over more clockwise so you see 2-3 knuckles. That really helped me stop from squirting the ball to the right with my irons. Hope it helps.
"Ball Market". Good video and definitely food for through. Sometimes it does feel there is too much choice, and not enough difference between clubs.
Without watching I would expect same scoring as normal, but stress free because you have no expectations.
When I do it I do it with only four - five clubs and find it stress free and happy golf. Every time I get cranky with bad shots I go and play a quick nine like this and it’s so helpful. ☺️

Hi liam i hope you are well we play this format every year in our fixtures the only dif is we do a four club and a putter and that is when problems start , and you eventually over think it , a great format but once a year is enough keep up the vids realy enjoy them.

When I was 10 years old my Dad bought me my first set of golf clubs. It was Ram Jr. Senators, it consisted of a 11* Driver, 15* 3 wood, 3i,5i, 7i, 9i and putter. I still have them. As for you score even par. Great video. #Ball Marker
