Magnificent footage. I wish I had a movie camera when I travelled by train from Beijing to Shanghai to Xian back in 1985. I saw lots of steam engines. I am enjoying seeing all your footage very much.
Anshan is still producing steel but has medernised to reduce pollution. Sandaoling open-cast coal mine is the only place still using a few SG steam locos. Shibanxi is the only NG steam railway and is a tourist operation. Fewer cycles, many motorcycles and mopeds, masses of private cars. High speed trains (some of the fastest in the world). Tower blocks and expensive designer label shops in the big cities. Yes, a lot has changed in 20 years!

Good video, and the clip of KD6 487 ( hope that's the right number) is quite something.
Yes indeed. That KD6 is actually a modified USATC S160.
great shots! tks
Great stuff, George. I bet things have changed out there in 20 years, also?

Plus, heavy haul coal railways and kilometer long plus double stack container trains!
Wszystkie te maszyny są potrzebne nie tak jak w skansenach ,one nic nie udają
