Still today this video is useful. I have the same tank as you have and thought that the FX6 was too big. But your video was exactly what I needed now. Thanks alot!
Nice. Would it not be easier to leave the Fluval out of it. And use the pump to empty the tank as well? Less wear on the filter drainage tap too. Anyway your tank is spotless.
Thanks for the video. I saw the FX6 just fit in the cabinet there. Would you be able to tell me the width of the cabinet if you wouldn't mind please? I want to know if I can fit a 30cm cube tank in there.
I've just got the same tank but the filter I got is a eheim professional 1200xlt...don't know if that's a good filter or not but was told the filter that comes with it isn't that good.....don't want to criticise your tank but you have a fantastic big tank there and you've put chappy landscaping in there....if that's temporary then fair enough but a tank like that needs real plants, rocks and wood in it so the fish feel happier in the more natural surrounding...I haven't set mine up yet and I'm going to landscape it over a period of time when I have saved some money to buy all the materials needed. Your filter looks like its a decent heavy duty one...the one that comes with it takes half the room in the tank...how many fish can you have in a 350 litre tank as I don't want to overstock mine.
I'm looking to purchase the FX2 for my Rio 240 with the same dimension pipe. Is that how far the pipe sticks out at the top with or without the clips that bend the pipe?
Dan would it be easier to use your hose pipe adapter and turn the pump on and let the pump drain the water straight outside? I’ve the same tank and I’ve just ordered the fx6 , absolutely love the adapter you’ve made too, it’s an idea I will definitely be using
Great video.im stuck between getting the 350 and 240.how do you find cleaning inside the tank do you have to stand on a chair to clean in or can you reach everything without?
I have to use a little step to make it easier to reach bottom when cleaning the glass but I don’t regret getting this tank, if I was starting a fresh and had to choose again I would go for the 350 again
No I wouldn’t say it is. I remember when I got the 350, I thought did I really need a tank this big lol definitely glad I did get it. The great thing is there’s more leeway for water temperature not to spike or drop suddenly etc
Hi Dan, how long do you have to wait until the tap water is good to use? Also how often do you need to repeat this water replacement procedure in practice - would once a month be ok? Many thanks for making the video
Hi, I put a dechlorinator in the water first, I use Seachem Prime. It depends really on stock levels, but you would be better doing 25/30% water change weekly as opposed to doing a 60/70% water change monthly. Doing small water changes often is less stressful, not as much shock. Thanks
Hello, I just ordered the same aquarium. Before this one I also had a juwel but a 110 liter tank. I went bigger this time. Do I need an external filter. I mean, is the stock filter inside not strong enough? Or will it do fine for me? I don't know to much about these things so hoping you can help me.
Hi, these are great tanks, plenty of space in them. The filter that comes with the tank is meant to be a good filter and don’t forget it is rated for that size of tank that’s why they include it in there but I didn’t want a great big black thing in the corner, I also didn’t want to loose space, I prefer external filters, easier to clean and can get more bio media in them. That’s one thing that put me off was having to try and clean inside the internal filter whilst it was stuck inside the tank. Honestly tho if you don’t mind it in the tank and you can deal with cleaning it whilst it’s stuck in there it will be absolutely fine, obviously as long as you aren’t heavily stocking your tank with Cichlids. Our local fish store has a display tank (Juwel curved tank) and he runs that just off the internal filter and it’s a well stocked tank. Cheers
Hi just want a tip on installing the put flow and inflow pipe, how did you manage to cut the hood in order to get the pipe in and is it quite straight forward I have African cichlids and are getting overstocked so need one asap 👍
Hi, I used a coping saw, them flexible blade saws that joiners use when scribing skirting and architrave, only reason being is I had one. Suppose you could use a cheap junior hacksaw and then I used a round file just to get it a bit better but that could substituted for sandpaper. Cheers
I can't believe you've got a submersible pump and you only use it to put the water back in the tank but your happy to have that massive ball ache of using the fx6 just use the pump to get the water out 😂🤷♂️
Not really a ball ache though is it, when not recording can be done a lot quicker and considering the FX6 shifts 3500 L per hour compared to submersible pump which only shifts 1200 L per hour the tank drains miles faster. But you already knew that didn’t ya, just trying to find some of your videos so I can learn from the professional?
Hi Dan - is the filter turned on??? -I have the Eheim pro 4+ 600 for my Juwel 350 and it is quite noisy (humming, ~150Hz). Just curious about how much noise the Fluval FX6 produces?
Hi, the filter is on till approx 3 mins into the video. I know what you mean, the FX6 does hum a bit but when the tv is on we don’t hear it, but if you were sat in the lounge with nothing on just reading you can hear it, maybe we’ve just become accustomed to it a bit and can’t hear it over the tv. Hope this helps
@@Shifty761989 Hi Dan - your setup looks good! -and the water changes so much easier than with my Eheim. Just out of curiousity: how much clearance do you figure you have in the cupboard for the FX6? (I have heavy butylene-plates x2 for noise-insulation in mine, so based on your video I think it may just barely fit...)
Not quite sure which way you mean so I’ve measured both ways. From the sides of the cupboard and the sides of the FX6 there is only approx 10mm (1cm) either side so a total of 18-20mm (1.8-2cm), from the highest point (the peak of the filter hose connected to the aqua stop valve) to the top of the cupboard there is 230mm (23cm) clearance. If you need to know anything else just message I’ll try help out.
Was thinking the same, why have a nice rank with shitty plastic ornaments in them.....maybe because its such a big tank it costs a lot of money to obtain all the materials needed and he's going to do it at after date....saying that there are now fish in the tank which would make it a ball ache
This is so long winded just connect the hose direct to the bottom tap and open it up closing off the return feed this way you clean any rubbish out at the bottom of the filter.
Thanks for showing that it fits but tbh your wc method is not the fastest. I made a u shaped pipe made out of pvc and hose clicks on it. it's way faster.
Great video but why spend all that money on a great filter and tank to just stick plastic plats and kids toys in it lol, get an Oscar and some big driftwood.
People sicken me on how they talk trash about a person's taste in aquariums. The same reason this person uses aquarium decor is the same reason why they don't live in your shoes.... Everyone is different. You judge people because of their choice and if its different from what you like or think, its a problem. It's your opinion and if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself. It's people like you that make people not want to even get into the hobby.. You comment harshly on everything from their choice in fish, tank size, decor, overstocking... everything under the sun. It's one thing to be informative, but some of you are just down rude. You say its not right to use ornaments, but then wont give a logical reason other than the aesthetics not fitting YOUR taste. You have people who use PVC pipe as decor and nothing is said, and thats not "natural". Stop with the madness. If you don't like a persons tank, don't watch the video, why even comment?
Well said, if there tank is set up and there happy with it why are they watching videos like this 😂, tells me they have too much time on their hands and probably no friends.
@@Shifty761989 Right!!! That's like being married and talking trash to another man (who is a complete stranger) on how his wife looks. And as for them having friends, if they do... I'd hate to see how they treat them.
I don't think you can over filter a tank. If you can afford a big filter, why not? Keeps the tank nice and clean and reduces the frequency you need to do water changes. Also it's future proof if you decide to add real plants or increase stocking.
@@kanelucas1475 , that is true, never enough but still,so little bio load, and no need. What I wanted to say is that the money could be transfered to other expences..

Was it easy to cut the internal filter out,as I already have a used fluval 407

How did u manage to remove the inbuilt filter??
Did your five-banded barbs colour up? How did they get on with your Corys did they bother them at all?
Great video...Great explanation of the fx6
Such a pity to put grabage ornaments in a nice aquarium
