Very nice tank you have there, I personally have changed the whole filter setup. On the bottom of the filter I have stacked 4 bags of filter substrate for beter biological filtering.. the black carbon filter pad I have replaced by active charcoal in a bag.. and the green nitrate pad is useless. the white filter pads are to fine to be on top.. so lower them to the middle, like the bottom of the top rack.. and stack all blue from top to bottom, coarse to fine. and on top of the finest blue filter pad you place the active charcoal.. this way your filtering will be way better and last longer..

Thank you so much for the constructive feedback, i will give it a try next time i change the filters, Since you have a gd experience How often do you recommend to change the Blue pads? and do you advice to change them all at once or alternatively replace half pads at a time to keep the bacteria flowing!!

@@SmileyVideography I made it a habit of cleaning them with the water changes, spare a bucket of aquarium water and use that to clean out the blue pads.. once every 2 months I do the same with the filter substrate..

the choice of fish is totally inadeguate, random ... they want very different types of water, they are condemned to suffer like this. Anelfish need low pH and hardness, the opposite of the other cichlids present in the tank

I love Juwel, I have Juwel tanks for more than 50 years now, but they have a light problem with the big tanks. They use the same 2 LED tubes on aquariums of 125 liters 80 x40 x40 and of 180 liters 1.00 x 40 x 40 with a height of 40 cm instead of the 60 cm of this Juwel 450 liters. The aquariums with the heights of 40 cm got good bottom light with this ligt bar, the 60 cm not. Only suited for low light plants. You can buy an extra ligt bar from juwel with adapted plastic covers but it will cost you a lot extra.

I do have a question though; I just bought a Rio 450 myself, and I noticed a rather thick plaque of silicone in the front rim, on the outside of the glass (around 8 inches to the left of the center logo).
