I had a 2005 KTM 250exc 2 stroke. Racked up a good amount of miles on the road with that thing. Took it on a couple trips that were a few hours each way. Took it on the highway as well. 2 strokes are a blast on the street when you’re doing hooligan shit, but suck when you’re tired and just want to cruise home. Aside from the seat the worst is carrying baby bottles of 2 stroke oil.
American's gigantic straight roads are not done for these type of bikes, i'm sorry for you :( If you come in Italy or centre-northen Europe you can milk them hard on those streets
Two smokers can be dual sported, depends on what you are comfortable with. I ride with 2 Beta 300rr’s and a GasGas 300 that get put thru the ringer on trails and street. (Easy to tag here in East TN) We do 120-160 mile loops through the mountains to Western NC. Also, any hours put on your bike are meaningful 😎
I have a 06 GasGas 300 too. What coolant are you using ? I just put an expensive car coolant for aluminium radiators and it boils very quick for some reason...
I got a yz125 2 days ago and it blew up and I fractured both arms. I was only in 4th gear half throttle. And it started first kick and I let it warm up. But for the two days that I had it I had so much fun.

With two strokes, u have to go on and off the throttle. Did the engine actually blow up or did it seize? U can get just buy a new top end kit if it seized. They go for 100-150 bucks. It’s easy to install. Just watch some vids on it👍
My 99 EXC 380 is plated I geared it for the road and took it to work for a week , I was doing 90 on the way home and it siezed , it was never really happy on the freeway.

It’s a bike, it’s meant to get rode lol I got 208 hours on my 2018 250 xc on its second piston and still running strong with regular maintenance, keep enjoying the seat time
It is possible to get a smoother run if you can adjust your ex valve to open at a lower rpm, it kills some of the torque low down but give a smoother ride
I really want one for our trips to the black hills because it would be sick on the trails but there a lot of highway use to get where you want to go and im very skeptical about a 2 stroke doing that type of riding.

Where I'm at the highway speed limit is 70 mph. Sure the bike would hate that without a proper setup but when I get one ima leave it stock and take every road but the highway =)
Yeah, my 2020 Beta XTrainer is the same way. It came street legal and plated. It does not like to remain at the same speed. It sounds the same way your bike does when just cruising at a consistent speed. It's not something that I would do all the time but I suppose it would handle it alright. Thanks for the vid. i got a 2007 RM-Z250 with a 2003 YZ250F engine on it... i have it geared vary high, because i use it on the highway... 50-55mph, heavy tubes and wheel weights... done right, it drives vary nice. tho, the nerve to do that? Eh.
Lectron is crazy smooth (helps on the street as well) and worth the money in fuel/pre mix savings if you plan on keeping it for a while as it gets way better gas mileage. Yes, the 500 is much more pleasurable on the street. Few hundred dollars and it will scream to 110 quick and also feel smooth at legal highway speeds.
I ride a dt125x everyday and I buy motorex 2 stroke 4 litres at a time. 20,000 miles I've only cooked a piston once so far, my fault it was overdue changing but they can last the best although the DT isn't what I'd call a performance motorcycle even with the little mods I've done to it
It was probably a good idea to put on the fan before riding in these mountains, there are moments where you don't go fast enough to keep the bike cool in those rocks.

We all choose our dangers whether it's smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, eating unhealthily, racing, working an unsafe occupation, etc. Gotta pick and choose. Some people make better decisions than others and still wind up in a casket sooner.
For short periods of time won’t hurt anything, but say you were pinned in top gear, when you let off the gas your gonna wanna pull in the clutch, the longer you engine break the more likely your bike is to blow up, needs oil to survive, no gas no oil
0xsergy I’m fully aware I think I have a habit of using the clutch to much lmao, every time I get off the gas I can’t help myself from pulling the clutch and blipping the throttle, but the bikes had the same piston for ab 2 years so I think my method works lmao

Yeh just dont do it people, riding 2 strokes on the road or long distance riding enduro etc but really thay are made for track....um i know previous a guy blew his motor riding on the road, but even compared to the 85 vs 150r videos you would be better off with the 150r for long and endurance riding, but for a 85 two stroke to keep up with a 150r is saying something.

I have a 300 tpi supermoto. It’s 100% streetable, and depends entirely on tire and gearing setup. This bike is nowhere near optimized for the road
