Installing a wideband and making it work in HP tuners through EGR

- We install a AEM 30-0300 wideband and make it work in HP tuners scanner through the EGR port on the P01 0411 type ECM.
Edit: Went to do this on a buddies car today (6/14/2024) and for some reason, the new update on HP Tuners has removed the Enable EGR toggle, so if you update your HP Tuners you may not be able to get this to work no more. I am going to try and find a work around for this.
this is probably the best explanation walkthrough video ive seen yet... i just got the MPVI3 with the pro link. learning as much as i can before I tweak on the car i have current tune...
Appreciate this video. I've got a `99 and the EGR has been deleted. I also don't have to have emissions any longer. I'm debating on replacing one of the downstream o2 sensors with a wideband and it's wiring and move it to the EGR pin, that way I can log it in HP tuners.
This is a really good example
Very good video your a great teacher thx 😊
Great video thank you for posting!
good video-thx for posting
are you or can you just leave it in speed density? or do you need dynamic maf deal too?
i'm getting ready to tune a second gen lt1 w/24x and 411 puter
MAF is best for street duties but speed density works too
I use the same AEM 30-0300 kit but I’m using it directly through hp tuners.
Also, did you weld in a new bung into your exhaust or use one of the front o2s for the sensor? Do you need the o2s for speed density tuning? Thx again
You can use speed density with or without O2s, just depends on how you tune it. On this particular car we wound up switching back to MAF and drilled an extra hole and welded a bung or you can drill a hole use those O2 clamp things. If you do speed density without O2s just use one of the existing holes, cap the other one, and take the narrow bands out. My 5.3 swapped 96 Camaro, I do not use O2s.
20:03 so with your wideband info in the table being that it’s in afr..how do you put that info into the tune? The ve table isn’t in afr
Does yours run on MAF or speed density. The tables I made are for speed density, you would need to make one for MAF if you are running MAF. Then if the AFR is too lean in those cells you raise the number to make it fatter and vice versa.
Did you ever figure something out? I seen the description and i’m wondering if I download an old version if it’d work still.
I did and it did work.
@@CarportGarageDragRacingSo downloading the older version worked? Sorry I just seen this
@@onPoint00 yes
@@CarportGarageDragRacing ok, thank you for the fast reply.
I just want to make sure I understand correctly.. when you added a pin into your PCM for the sensor, EGR in your case, can any PCM “Sensor signal” pin (that isn’t being used) work for this? Ie, in my application: AC pressure sensor signal, EVA pressure sensor signal , fuel level sensor signal secondary etc.) or, are you tapping into a PCM 5v reference? (5V reference A/c, EVA, etc)
It has to be a 5V reference. I am only aware of people using A/C and EGR but I guess you can use others if they are 5V reference and not being used.
@@CarportGarageDragRacing thanks for the quick reply. Maybe I’ll run it by Brandon from LT1Swap and see what I can use for the 4.8,5.3,6.0 PCMs (blue/green) just to double check. There’s quite a few 5v references that I’m not using anymore tho after cleaning up the harness
My Autometer AFR gauge outputs 0-4v reference. I believe I can make it work on 2001 Vet if I scale it correctly?@@CarportGarageDragRacing
@@txripper1 What sensor do you have?
Bosh lsu4.2@@CarportGarageDragRacing autometer 2243
02? whats with the heads and having perimeter bolt valve covers
I have no idea.
Hello, first of all I want to start giving you guys thanks for a awesome video. I followed step by step your installation process and my AEM is working nice by the EGR. Now today I discovered something weird in my setup. I'm working in a new tune for my engine and turn off my MAF to set up the VE tables and when I fire up engine the WB works perfect in SD mode. Now when I turn the MAF sensor on the WB is not working, it get freeze reading 7.31afr like the engine is not running. You have any idea what can be that I messed up in the process?
I old assume it may be the gauge or wideband sensor. Recheck all connections.
@@CarportGarageDragRacing can be something in the tune?
Because if I switch file tunes to MAF it doesn’t work but if I upload the SD it works perfect. 🧐
@@comprayvendeautosusados15 so to make sure I am understanding everything, the gauge reads correct on either tune? But it does not read correctly on the scanner with the MAF tune? If that is the case, make sure to go into Engine tab at top, then Exhaust tab, and make sure the Diag Disable Speed is 200 and Diag Enable Speed is 0. Also go into Spark>Advance>EGR>Base and make sure that table is zeroed out. Make sure it is that way in both tunes.
What was happening that I have a tune for Speed Density and another for MAF. In the SD only the WB was working good but in the MAF one was not working. Today I was comparing both tunes and dummy me discovered in the MAF the egr was disable🤦🏻♂️.
Now is working perfect😄💪🏼. Thank You so much for great video. It works in my 02 Camaro. Keep the good work.🙏🏼😊
@@comprayvendeautosusados15 glad you got it
On unit, it pulls nothing down. I cant do percentage or anything there
Can you tell me the min and second in the video you are referring to so I can see what part you are talking about
@@CarportGarageDragRacingi got it figured out. Now, all is done. Car is all good. When i read my car, the egr part does not move at all. Just stays 0
@@CarportGarageDragRacingits around 23 for it
@@briansaathoff4038 turn on EGR in tune and set the EGR table to 0
@@CarportGarageDragRacing thank you. I will try this. So i put the decimal to 0 yes?
My aem is hooked correctly. White wire to egr hot side, black/brown to ground, red, pos switch. In hp, is where i get stumped. New to this tuning stuff.
What aem wideband did you use?
It is in the video, but my son used the AEM 30-0300 on the WS6 and I used the AEM 30-4110 on my 96 Camaro
I have a 09 g8 would this work on it
It should you just have to find the EGR or AC input for the ECM. Also if you are using the AC or EGR you will need to put an inline toggle switch to turn one off and the other on when you are tuning.
I am not running a maff
me either
