You may have mentioned these and I just didn't catch it. These are things that I've had to tell people that didn't get it in the beginning. Rule #1 is that any parameter that you wish to see anywhere else such as gauges, charts, graphs MUST be in the channels first. Second: I commonly see people have the channels they want but their chart or graph doesn't display it because they didn't select or refer to the actual channel being logged. That leads me to the third: There is a filter in the graphs and charts that when activated, will only allow you to select from channels that will work for you.
Hey boss - I've seen you mention in a couple of videos now about the WB channel dropping out and having to restart the pc. I've got an AEM OBDII WB and for me, opening the scanner and going to 'Vehicle' > 'Repoll for supported parameters' works for me and is a bit faster than a full restart. Love your work
Another top notch informative video. You have a firm grasp on tuning as well as making RUclips vids. Easy to watch and super informative. My biggest gripe is that there is no manual or text to help yourself when it comes to HPT. Luckily people such as yourself share the ins and outs!
The guages are for when you are driving and need to glace over to see what is happening on the scanner. Very useful for that purpose. Such as watching for knock.
Yes, this should be top of the play tuning 101 list too! Good stuff! Thanks! Maybe with a quick simple (short) vid on getting your first log file read. (Smooth... No abrupt changes etc.)
Having to create my own charts for fueling has been the most difficult thing for me to grasp. Then in this video I just learned about the Math parameters manager and the ability to create our own Math formulas....Im still not sure what those are for. Im about to look for the video you talked about doing advanced math and graphs setup. Always trying to learn more. Thanks alot
Really helpful stuff for me. Sometimes I wish I had a high level knowledge as to what we are doing. Like when we do MAF tuning, why disable certain engine functions? Can you log DFCO and filter it out later? What does EQ error ratio really mean? Isn't it Lambda requested vs actual error? All sorts of newby questions... Thanks for another informative video!!!
I think the MPVI2 is for newer models like 07 and newer, you need a HPT model with the little green block that goes on the side of the, you then get an analog signal from your model wideband and 2 wire leads that go into this green terminal block www.hptuners.com/product/mpvi-pro-eio-plug/ You could check but I dont believe the MPVI2 has the provision for that, maybe they will swap out for you? Funny thing is I have a 98 Camaro and got the MPVI Pro and the 30-0334 because it plugs in line with the MPVI at the port but the car still doesnt have the provision to read from there???... I have to add the leads to the big plug on the back of the gauge, and down to the green block to get it to read analog. Not sure why the plug has the spot for the leads they dont just pin them for you. Kind of disappointed with the misleading and conflicting info of high dollar equipment working together. Mayeb I am missing something?
Hey great vid, was wondering, I have a 2011 avalanche 5.3, did a dod/afm delete with new cam, problem I have is it had VT I guess but no longer have that sensor, I'm really not sure o how to tune bought credits, did the ecm-2 credits the fuel-1 credit, and nothing on tcm. I tried reading and writing to ecm after going in and setting dod to disable, but I'm not getting the vehicle to start, motor turns, no fire. Looking for any help possible to see if I'm doing something wrong.
Hi...having trouble with some of the basics in the MPVI2 Scanner Data Logging. Have been revising Channel Lists and Charts while saving the recorded File Logs. After saving the Log File I disconnect from the vehicle and then go back to review and make changes and then try and save the changes. That when the troubles start. I understand in order to record a scan, the PID must be in the Channels List. I am able to add and delete PIDs through the Channel Selector in most cases. At first the RPM value initially loaded in the Scanner Download would not record. I had to go into the Channel Selector and add all the RPM PIDs to the Channels List and now it is working including the one that originally would not. Go figure! Problems now...1) Notes on the Details Tab (under the Channels List) for any Log File do not save. 2) Revised Charts (Groups removed) Saved All Groups or Selected Groups under the original file name do not save; when I reopen them they are the original file. Right now I am just trying to understand how things work and assemble templates that I can use for data logging and review. Thanks
Thanks for the video. Just what I needed. You mentioned broadcast parameters showing in Green. When I try that there are no green boxes. When I click on the Polling channels double arrow icon, it only shows me External Inputs. Thoughts? Also, how many channels are too many for gen3 512k PCM?
Some ECMs don't have broadcast channels, so that's why you aren't seeing any. And I wouldn't worry about too many until you start having numbers disappear when you try to poll, then you need to scale back or lower the polling speed.
I've got a 2015 silverado rcsb 5.3 I only plan on learning & tuning my truck!! Which unit would you recommend.. so far headers cold air gear change front and back
I really enjoy watching your videos, they are a great tool for learning how to tune. I was wondering if you can help shed some light on an small issue im having. On an e67 gen 4 ecu for an LS Canyon im trying to make some adjustments to the base running airflow at idle but the table seems incorrect and nothing like ive seen anywhere else. The top RPM axis is 4,096 on the left and 2,458 all the way to the right, it doesn't actually get into the idle range. Can you explain why this is like that? The stock as found file is configured in the same way. Thanks for any help, will continue to enjoy your videos.
Are you at all concerned with the EPA's push to stop aftermarkets from tuning and doing high performance builds of engines? This won't effect us in Canada but I'm interested in your take on this issue. I personally think the EPA should be defunded.
Question: When we add a wideband sensor to the channel list, for example the X-Series UEGO (30-03XX) WB EQ Ratio 1, and then I create a Graph and go to select that parameter it doesn’t list that channel in the parameter selector. I have to select a generic parameter like EQ Ratio [Sensor]. And it doesn’t even seem like they are the same value.

Great info. One question though, when the scanner connects to the pcm and you see the progress bar come up, i have seen what i think are pids come up but they don't show in the available channels, why would this be happening? Thx
@@GoatRopeGarage yeah I get that, I just thought that if the intetface (mpvi2) "reads"a parameter it should show up in the channels, unless it's a predetermined pid that it looks for, it doesn't mean that it found it. Ahhh, now that makes sense?

I need to figure out how to log boost so I can compare the stock airbox to the AFE intake that's in transit and eventually tune for headers.
There is a boost math on the predefined maths or you can make your own, it's just MAP minus barometric

Will tuning the maf in 50hz instead of 5hz improve throttle response because of the more accurate readings?
