I wish I could tell all of you what it was like to see Linda sing this live back in the 70s. You could hear people breathing because everything went completely still, no matter how big the venue was. Her voice was aching and had that elastic quality about it. She was not only a phenomenal singer--she was singer who knew how to merge fully into a song, become a song, and take you there with her. "Long, Long Time" is one of the ten greatest ballads of the entire rock era. And Brandi is right: it's a hard damn song to sing, not only because of the range and control it requires but because of Linda's indelible version. Brandi does a great job here (is she ever really bad?). Such a beautiful tribute to Linda.
@branner I was too young - just a chillin really in the 70's. but ohhhhh do I love me some Linda. Must have been magical live. She was the Taylor Swift of her Era, after all.
Possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever... I was blessed to see Linda Ronstadt sing this live, OUTDOORS, in 1975 ish... timeless! thank you, Brandi, thank you Stephanie
Yea this is my favorite Linda Ronstadt song and if Brandi says it hard to sing it brings more undeniable credit to the singing talents of Linda. But Brandi sure does nail it and does the song justice which goes to show the undeniable singing talents of Brandi.
Such a gorgeous, emotional song, made immortal decades ago by the one and only Linda. And here we are in 2024, when Brandi and Sista Strings have blessed us with their stunning version.
Thank you, Brandi! You continue to expose new generations to the fabulous women of the past…by crediting them as being your “idols”, and by covering their songs with your own spin, young people today look into these wonderful artists (Joni, Linda, etc.)…kind of like what Luke Combs did for Tracey Chapman…you treat them with honor and respect….something sorely lacking in our world today. Again, thank you!
I saw this young lady last year and have to say it was the BEST concert I've seen in years. She was absolutely amazing...just her, her piano and her guitar. Alot of talent. I loved it!! Great song Brandi!
I will ad her to my list. I was blessed to see so much talent through the 70s, and the ladies truly signed. I sawn Patti Loveless sing a acapella in a huge inside venue and you could hear a pin drop. Now Brandi is in my list!
I was there! One of the most memorable songs of the entire show! Brandi being vulnerable and real...that's why we love her! Her talent is immense and any "experimental" song she wants to try out with us...cool! I'm all for it! My favorite live musician of all time!
I remember this song caught my attention when I was just a little kid. The song had just come out. I even remember where I was. I was so young I didn’t really understand much of the song but had some idea it was about someone not returning your love. But more than that it was the beauty and the in-depth feelings the song provoked. I thought it was just me who felt the song was brilliant and heart wrenching, but as an adult I started hearing other people, even songwriters talk about how inspiring this song was to them.
10:51pm❤ Linda's version, w.out an orchestra, is superlative. Those tragic lyrics "Living in the memory of a love A that never was.." are matched only by her incredible vocalization. Thank you MS. Ronstadt
Thanks so much for uploading this, what a glimmering gem of a cover!! 💎 (Plus, it's pretty wild to see this vocal powerhouse being legitimately nervous!)
Amazing cover ladies, I bet Linda Ronstadt would be proud. It is very difficult to sing a song that was done so perfectly. Brandi you are one of the few vocalists that could pull this off. Thank you for posting and wish I was there.
Thank you for clearing this up for me! I thought she looked way too young but she def looks like Belinda did in the go gos era! I really respect it when performers mess up the beginning of the song, start again and knock it out of the park! Really love the live backing instruments on this rendition too. Also one of my favorite songs. Thanks for posting. Now I must check out the rest of her stuff!
Great job! Have the real strings is killer. Funny story - I used to play with a gal who could really sing the hell out of this, and we were playing for an audience when my old elastic capo just flew off my guitar and into the crowd. We couldn't stop laughing for 15 minutes.
That is funny. I saw her sing this the day after this performance. My second time seeing her. I'm 72 next week, and she claims she'll be back to my local venue, Tanglewood in Lenox , Mass. as she loves the place. who wouldn't.
Really beautiful. Linda's is stunning, and I like that Brandi didn't try to copy it exactly. I so miss Linda's singing. I think I have everything she ever recorded. One of the only artists who can have concerts that are often better than studio work. Brandi can do that too..
Back to respecting Brandi since the go gos. Best thing I’ve heard from her since then. Love this song too. There will never be another Linda. All the best get broken in one way or another. Breaks my heart 💔
I can't tell if you are joking or not? But if not, this is Brandi Carlile, not Belinda Carlisle. Brandi was never a go-go... she was born in 1981. Glad you enjoyed the performance of this classic song.

You are so right. Linda has an unmatchable quality to her voice. Seeing her in concert was absolutely amazing and was one that I will never forget.
@Branner, I saw Linda in Dallas in 1971 when she opened for Neil Young. Soundtrack of our youth was extraordinary.
@branner I was too young - just a chillin really in the 70's. but ohhhhh do I love me some Linda. Must have been magical live. She was the Taylor Swift of her Era, after all.
One of my favorites. Such a haunting melody.
I too remember! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and reminding me of mine!
"Living in the memory of a love that never was" - one of the greatest lines ever.
Possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever... I was blessed to see Linda Ronstadt sing this live, OUTDOORS, in 1975 ish... timeless! thank you, Brandi, thank you Stephanie
I saw Linda then too...there was no one like her! Glad Brandi did this❤️🎶
Lucky you!!!!!
@@lynnpeirce3205Me too. She was unbelievable.

Linda would be proud of Brandi. She did a great job.
Loved Brandi for fifteen years. Loved Linda for half a century.
Such a gorgeous, emotional song, made immortal decades ago by the one and only Linda.

Brandi Carlisle is genuine and passionate. Seeing Linda perform live is one of my best memories. ❤❤❤❤

“Experimental”?
@@tananario23 Brandi was "trying out" this song for the first time live, that is what they mean.
I grew up in Tucson. I was able to meet Linda. I'm a huge fan.
Brandi did this song so beautifully.
Thank you for sharing. I love it when she starts over. It’s just everything about her. 🥰 Damn she killed this one. And Sista Strings. 🥰😭 Oh myyy.
Simply beautiful. Linda would be proud.
Brandi, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you for singing this beautiful classic of our beloved Linda Rondstadt.
First time i heard this circa 1977, I have been in love with this song ever since.
How can one person be this freakin’ talented???

Me too, but my teenage crush on Linda helped me understand what loving and missing and hurting for a long long time meant!
How lovely, they are both unparalleled singers.
Makin' me cry since the 70's,
Me too. I loved him completely.
@@TheDennyWomanThat pain is hard to forget.
Written by songwriter, Gary White. Beautiful.
Heard this song in The Last of Us and have liked it since then. What a beautiful heartbroken song.
Thank you for this comment.
Yeah I saw Linda sing it a bunch of times. I was blessed, we all were, to have heard Linda sing for so long!
Brandi covering Linda with SistaStrings 🎉❤😊

Girl you are human, we love that about you. You sang the hell out of this song!! Well done indeed!! 🙂
Beautifully done and I do love Brandi, but Linda’s the one and only ❤
Brandi nailed it!
Thanks so much for uploading this, what a glimmering gem of a cover!! 💎 (Plus, it's pretty wild to see this vocal powerhouse being legitimately nervous!)
Wonderful! It brings them same emotions that Linda brings
Wonderful rendition of Linda’s Take Things In Stride!
One of my FAVORITE songs. Brandi, what a beautiful rendition. Thank you.
This was an awesome night! We thoroughly enjoyed it! She always puts on a fabulous show!
I saw her, last year, for the first time. It was on my birthday & it was a magical. It was at Red Rocks beneath the stars......
One of favorite songs ever
I was there, too. It was magical. Brandi, you gave us all a gift that night.
Oh my! One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite classic singers of my teens sung by one of my favorite current singers! Heavenly!❤
Linda Ronstadt is a very hard act to follow but Brandi really does an excellent job with this wonderful song
My lord pushing close to 80 and she would blow away these modern so called lass singers away at ease, it’s amazing, bless her, ♥️☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I'm sure Linda appreciates your dedicated cover of this gem! ❤ You had me at "The Story!"
Have always loved this song. Who else better now to sing it, after the great Linda Ronstadt original, Brandi is the perfect choice.
Just saw her do this song perfectly at Tanglewood July 30 24 hours later
Keep singing this Brandi. Beautiful!
Wow thank you Brandi
Goosebumps…….❤❤❤

BEAUTIFUL❣️
Wonderful performance. ❤❤
Nicely done. Huge fan of both performers.
Brandi 👍🌹❤️🇸🇪
Brandi has a beautiful voice too...great cover ❤
Nailed it! The interpretation of the song's sentiment was solid. Linda Ronstadt could hit some higher octaves, so this was a brave cover.
Gorgeous. My favorite Linda song. Well done. Now, release it.
Exquisite!
That was right up there with Linda R.
Beautiful cover 💜
Awe ,Thank you Brandi! 🥺I love you too Baby.😎🖤⭐️🌅🕊🦋🕊☮️🖤🌅🎉🇺🇸

It's a good song. Liked it when Ronstadt recorded it and like this cover.
Beautifully performed.
Melanie Safka did this song as well, maybe even before Ronstadt did hers. It was also very good.
i enjoyed it. Thanks for loving this song. i do as well
