You've hit the nail on the head with this test! For us divers, the automatic color filter is extremely important as it perfectly adjusts the white balance. I think this is a big advantage over GoPro cameras.
Hi, thanks for the great comparison. Do you have any experience of using the Osmo action 4 with an underwater housing? If so, which one? I'm thinking of buying this action cam and using it for diving, among other things. Kind regards karsten
Hello, finally a comparison of these two underwater cameras!😀Can you show what these videos look like after color correction? What do the photos look like? Which one do you think is better underwater?
Thanks for sharing! Pay attention to the characters on the forehead of the mask at 0:26. Compared with GP12, details of AC4 are lost, hair detail is also lost in the later frames. Although AC4 has good color reproduction, the picture quality is slightly inferior.
you can even see the fabric weave detail on the go pro... was leaning DJI.. but im starting to rethink that.. Still.. I FEEL like there are no true comparisons.. what was her sharpness set too?? the iso?? too high of iso will blow out those details too.. we need both shot in dlog, no in-camera sharpening, and manual settings the same, then color-graded and sharpened post to see which is capable of getting the best footage..
@@PeaceUnderWater The RUclipsr said it's only set automatically (4k60, auto white balance). Don't forget Gopro has native WB which could easily correct underwater colour by post-production, but figure details couldn't. Other point, Gopro video size is ca.60% compared with DJI even if you record in 5.2K. In conclusion, if you like post-production, Gopro. Otherwise, DJI suit you more.
@@yiwang4883 i saw what she said, but as i said, until both cameras are used in the same manual settings, we just do not have a single good comparison video on the pair, and i find that pretty sad
We can’t get back the details in post edit, but we can do the colour correction in post, go pro 12 did the good in the details, so gopro 12 maybe my choice 🥹
Helpful comparison, thanks ! DJI definitely has its automatic settings dialled in. But shouldn't be too hard to tweak the GP colours in post, assuming you are ok with post work. I like the 8x7 GP option but like the fast charge of batteries for DJI. I'm still back and forth on which one to buy lol!
could you please do one both in dlog/flat, zero in-camera sharpening, 10-bit color, same manual white balance, shutter speed and iso, then color grade and sharpen both clips with the same settings, then edit both separately to their own personal bests? im trying to pick, but there is no real objective comparison videos.. im about to just get both to do the test myself
@@renadang4010 i ripped this video and color graded so both sides matched, and I sharpened it , the go pro was the cleaner image.. can't say for sure how valid it was cause the source video doesn't have the same manual settings, but I went with Go Pro, plus Go pro has underwater macro lens dive cases and you don't have to download an un-listed app to register it.. dji app was removed from the app stores over security concerns, it sends user data to a server in china, and DJI is partially owned by the CCP...
@@renadang4010 Another comment pointed this out, look at the mask .. also the tubing, the text on the regulator, and the white fabric on the back of the vest.. clearly more detail on the Go pro side.. MAYBE the DJI was overexposed?? we just don't know :( it'd be a lot cooler if we did...
I am not a Gopro fan but think any camera can be made look bad depending on settings . I dont think Gopro is that bad in comparison and the Video is not honest. I wouldnt trust this review at all..

Thank you very much for this side to side comparison. This 43 seconds answer all my questions about colors in natural light underwater! Just great!
Wow, the color out of the box on the 4 is so much better
May I directly use the oa4 under water after opening its box (till 15m not much down) ?
In Action 4 , Which settings you using in underwater filming ? Thanks

What are your settings for the osmo action 4. I just purchased it for trip to thailand.
Been waiting for a under water video comparison of these 2 for a while now.
what an amazing video!

Have the new OSMO Action 4. Video is OK, but forget still images, get a real camera for those.
Fabulous 😍
Great comparison, Osmo Action 4 seem way more natural
Ciao puoi mandarci i video raw di tutti e due i file di gopro e dji ? Grazie

like, does she have noise reduction on?? so many variables not being addressed in anyones videos about these 2 cameras ..

Can Rain Me Use Mic?
Have you added underwater color filter lenses to the Gopro?
same question!

Tweak in post? GoPro's are not friendly for pushing colors. Having a more accurate color cast without the green hue is pretty clutch.
Great! Shows how much better the DJI action 4 is!! Thank you!
I prefer Osmo Action 4.
That is why I bought the Osmo over the gopro.

i agree. This is not a comparison.
Have you decided on which one yet?

Menudo engaño, usan un video sin editar y el otro le hacen un balance de blanco correctamente para que se vea mejor.
GoPro footage is in green dirty bloory lake 😂
Gopro are better, more natural and better quality, AC4 lost details
Agreed - it's like people are blind or something
The nasty GP colors make the DJI so much better.
