Thank you for your review! I'm a GoPro 11 owner and recently got my hands on Action 4, tested them with normal color mode, the Action 4 completely blows my mind ! The out of box color (not d-log and without lut applied) is just stuning ! Way better in most senarios than GoPro. So just try the normal color profile, there is a HUGE color and sharpness difference between log (with lut) and normal color profile.
Thanks. That opinion is very helpful. I was wondering if I really need Log photography for myself, if you don't mind me making two points. What angle of view are you using? Do you use any attachments such as red filters?
No, i didn't use any kind of filters, and i think it might have some kind of digital filter or underwater wb built-in, since if you just pull the camera out of water, it will shows some kinds of reddish for few frames, just looks like wearing a real red filter, and then returns to normal color.
As for the POV, i think there is a suggetion display on UI, which is better to use "wide" than others when diving, the "ultra wide" will have a huge distortion on the edge. @@user-jg9it3vs4m

I am also using it in 'Wide' mode, but I still feel that the periphery of the image is not clear, so I would like to try using it in 'Normal' mode as well. I would also like to try using "Normal" for the color.

Thank you for the great comparison video! I’m surprised the GoPro looked better but I guess it could be the cloudy housing and the LUT you used. Maybe it’s better just to use the normal color profile for comparison

Hi. The comparison may have been difficult because we tried to compare both cameras with the best image quality, like 10 bit. Next time I would like to compare both in normal color or both in LOG.
Did you use an automatic or fixed white balance setting on the OA4?

big big mistake. Thank you, but you did a big mistake. The D-Log M is not for underwater. The Action 4 has a sensor for white balance that is especially useful for underwater. So, you should use the auto correction without the D-Log M. The profile is not for underwater. Oh man, what a missed opportunity. Look at videos of others and you will understand you I mean. Do a new video to show the difference. It will blow you mind.
So go pro 12 is better for underwater videos? Action 4 looks blurry.
Hi. This may be because an LUT has only been applied and no color grading has been done.
Also, as mentioned in the subtitle, the last comparison is blurry because the Action4 housing was a bit foggy.
I will buy a new Action4 housing in the next week or so and do the comparison at sea, so please wait for that video too.

I think GoPro is just oversharpened. Have a look at 2:10 and 2:18. The DJI looks so much better. The blue glow in the distance of the GoPro footage looks like a video game from twenty years ago. The flickering, the software and temperature shutdowns are also concerning, but not really worth mentioning, since it is a known GoPro thing.

I had a diving trip couple weeks ago, I brought my OA4 and the guide has this GPH12. I recorded everything in LOG. The guide recorded everything in HDR mode. After finished the diving, I did a post production from both of the camera. Now listen to this.
I you do post-production, NEVER buy GPH12. I was very frustrated to match the color I like when working on GPH12 footages. That gun in the shelf was very tempting!
Since OA4 has LOG, I can work with its footages very easily. Color correction on LOG is just something. Even only using the LUT provided by DJI, it’s just more than enough to beat GPH12 into pulp.
Lets not lie, gopro has much more detail.
GoPro sponsored, serioisly wrong lit for the osmo 4.. also the normal is mich better on the osmo 4 than hdr on gopro.. hiw much did u get paid to lie?!
I think the uploader is being honest with the reply to @omararmada4696 regarding the quality and the LUT applied on the video.
