      It showed it in a stylistic way but I personally didnt think it glamorized it AT ALL. Who the hell wants to go down a toilet or see a baby in that condition? Or a doofus taking a crap in his sheets? Great movie. SHould have won the oscar that year.

      @@apexmax5944 yeah I don't think the movie glamorised it at all. The toilet scene, the baby scene and the scene where the main character hallucinates in his bedroom are all incredibly negative depictions of heroine use.

    There's a whole story about why the guy is climbing out of the toilet - in the book/film he's a heroin addict. He's just bought some suppositories from his dealer (if I remember right that was all the dealer had - think they were maybe opioids or similar?) as he's desperate for any high. Problem is, heroin makes you constipated and the heroin is out of his system so on his way home the suppositories kick in and he needs a toilet immediately. He is forced to use the toilet in a betting shop which is known as "the worst toilet in Scotland" (knowing exactly where that shop is in real life, I can believe it). After he's finished, he realises the suppositories are now in the toilet... he's so desperate for his hit that he fishes them out of the disgusting toilet. The film cleverly showed it as this fantasy sequence which was, until he emerges, considerably less foul than the reality, but it was a brilliant illustration of how desperate people become when they are slaves to their addiction.

    • @georgialilley4316
      @georgialilley4316 4 года назад +1

    I've seen the Pixies play a bunch of times, but one of the most amazing concert experiences I've ever had was when they ended a show on this song and left the stage, but the crowd kept doing the "OOOoooooooooo" in unison for a good 15 minutes afterward. People were still doing it on the way out the doors and out in the street in front of the venue.

For whatever its worth, when this pandemic is finally over, the Pixies will tour again. You can typically catch them at a 3,000 seater or sometimes even smaller. Catch them once before you die.

    The video from a film called Trainspotting 90s film based on Scotland. That's Ewan McGregor (obi wan kenobi from modern star wars flicks) It is an honest mind bending portrait of what drug taking on the 90s was all about in Scotland.
    The important message is don't do drugs. You should watch it if you can figure out Scottish dialects. However, you can recognise characters within society at that time within it.

    I think it's great that you're allowing yourselves to open mindedly be introduced to an eclectic array of artists, spanning multiple genres; and through the various examples of musical exposure you're claiming to more or less enjoy all the recommendations. With that said however, I have to ask: Are you merely claiming to enjoy the music you're being introduced to, in hopes to receive "likes" and continuous growth of your You Tube channel, or are these myriad examples of musical recommendations truly having an impact on you? Are all the songs you're claiming to enjoy ultimately helping to shape your musical tastes, or assist in truly redefining your definition of what a good song means? Basically, what I want to know is, when the cameras go off, and the both of you are going about your daily lives, do these songs stay within your soul? Do you find yourself seeking out further music from these artistic recommendations? I don't know about you, but when I listen to a song from a band I've never heard before, and it happens to be a song I enjoy, I don't stop there. I continue listening to other songs from the band responsible, and the subsequent albums that they've previously released. Case in point, when I was first introduced to one of my all time favorite bands, Portishead, as a sophomore in high school back in 1996; I was completely blown away. The first song I remember hearing was a tune called "Glory Box", which had an immediate impact on me. But I didn't merely stop with that one single song. I instantly asked my friend, who was responsible for the introduction, if this song came off an album of theirs, and if so, I wanted to hear the entire record! After listening to every track, and being totally floored by virtually every single song, I then asked for the name of the aforementioned record so that I could purchase it for myself, and listen to the entire album whenever I want. Anyways, I didn't want this to become a rant. Basically, if you guys are truthfully enjoying a particular recommendation, then I want to see further evidence, and examples, of how these songs are impacting your actual lives. Otherwise I will have no other choice but to question the sincerity of your opinions.

      @@user-ee1ws3bi6l You are completely missing the point. EVERYBODY comments how awesome it is to see to people from a younger generation, and their positive responses to classic songs from various genres.... and they're indeed correct. But here's a couple of kids, who only a year or so ago, claimed to have NEVER heard rock music before. Like.... The entire genre! Now keep in mind that these 2 kids aren't really kids. They're either 21, or 22 years old. Do you honestly think they said to themselves one day, "Gee... There sure is a bunch of music we've never heard of before. Let's start a youtube channel and let people tell us what to listen to." You honestly think they're doing it for the love of music?? No! They're doing it to have a successful channel, which ultimately makes money. But I never accused them as such. Everything I said in my original comment was in the form of a question, so not to be accusatory. Because, I am aware of the fact that maybe I'm not correct. But if that's the case, PROVE IT! You like Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" so much? Show us proof that you went out and purchased an album. Oh, you're enjoying songs from Hendrix? Put up a poster! Something..... Something that shows that these songs you've quote on quote "Never heard before", but claim to be thoroughly enjoying, actually means something. Because if a song really affects you, you will want to listen to it long after the cameras are turned off... And unfortunately I see no evidence of that.
      Oh, and it's "you're" not. Not "your". If you're going to attempt to insult someone, the least you can do is learn basic english grammar. Actually, you're using the word properly in the following sentence from the one I pointed out. So, I'll assume it was some sort of typo and give you the benefit of the doubt.
