Watching this in 2022. This video was filmed 13-14 years ago and posted 10 years ago. Did a quick research and glad to see Rik is still surfing competitively and adventuring well into his 50s. Also he’s since changed his name to Pegleg. What a guy!
top man. what a lovely guy.....so rounded. I am very envious...love Cornwall life, wanted to move there for years. This has made me even more determined to do it.
Muy buen video. He disfrutado mucho. Este señor es un buen ejemplo, su sentido de humor, hombre de familia, admiro que su discapacidad fisica no es un problema para disfrutar de la vida y hacer las cosas que le gusta como practicar surf. Muchas gracias. Very good video. I really enjoyed it. This man is a good example, his sense of humor, family man, I admire his physical disability is not a problem to enjoy life and do the things you enjoy like surfing. thank you very much
A lovely area he sais, quite pretty he sais lol, you don't know how lucky you are mate i holiday in Cornwall as often and as long as i can usually 3-4 times a year for as long as i can remember, i cant get enough i get so envious of guys like you haha. hats off to you though mate you seem a top bloke thank you for the insight into your life and living in beautiful Kerno :)
So nice to see a real family man ..I guy who really loves his kids .. too bad all men who have kids aren't like this ... this makes me feel so happy. Also ,I have to wonder how cold that water is where he's surfing.
My last name is Cole and I love genology. I'm from the States, Florida - Tampa Bay. I would love to come visit my "home land" and.... I appreciate these videos. Thank you. At least he's not on the "dole" because America loves to spin it; yet let me tell you - in America, we're lucky to get 4 days off a year ontop of Weekends - the idea of 3-5 weeks of "Holiday" makes me green with envy. So yeah, I'm going to figure out how to come to Cornwall and explore. Screw Rome and Paris.
Jack Cole I used to live in the Tampa area.. Northwest of the city in a section called Westchase... and then moved out of Florida 5 years ago. But even on my worst day there I could never believe how incredibly beautiful Florida was
I don't understand why that post office doesn't have some kind of cars or little motor scooters or golf carts or even bicycles for delivering mail on the longer routes such as the 8 Mile route... it makes no sense to me.
Ye, It looks like it was filmed before privatisation. It's a terrible job now, constant pressure from an interfering management who only make the job harder. Almost everyone I know is looking for a way out.
Also in America a lot of male men hate their jobs there too even though it has not been privatized simply due to the fact that they are treated like they don't have any rights and they are constantly watched and even trying to have a minute or two to run to the bathroom is a big deal... it's a shame it seems like workers don't have rights anymore as if things are going backwards
i wish i could be happy like you sir, when i done my tour in iraq i see alot of blood and suffering i just cant get it oit my head. i feel like i hate the whole world
postman from cornwall is there any solomons still living in truro cornwall uk is so cud you ask them that there is a American wanting to coraspond with them related to william solomon 1804 that imrgrated to salt lake city ut
Damn I had a uncle Lennox Solomon from Truro who migrated to Australia about 40 years ago. He wasn't really an uncle just very close to mums family, she always said he was like a brother
Im intrigued to know how he wound up with such an up to date fibreoptic leg, usually these are only available to the military as they are incredibly expensive !
Pitty most offices aren't as nice, they should weight there bags before leaving the building as 16kg is the max load but especially in a city offices I know of they don't car, they want you to take out as much as you can, iv known postmen carry two bags at a time, even now using trolleys there's a weight limit but the managers don't care how heavy the the bags/trolleys, many of ex-postmen have bad backs twisted spines Because of the weight being carried and usually on the same side which twist the spine.

My stepdad was a mailman and he walked 16 miles a day.
But it was all flat walking, not up hills and stairs.

Nesting d2d is a big no no when does the boss appear to tell you that your lapsing and getting you to do more!!
Is Rik still employed by the Royal Mail?
Can I ask where you were surfing? What an inspiration you are! :)
This video makes a posties job look relaxed, easy and enjoyable, certainly NOT the case, horrible job. Over 5 years experience of it.
Haha, yes I remember that, pretty much what it was like at the time.
Ye, It looks like it was filmed before privatisation.
It's a terrible job now, constant pressure from an interfering management who only make the job harder. Almost everyone I know is looking for a way out.
Well my question is do you at least get to drive or ride on your route or do you have to carry the mail everywhere and walk ?
Also in America a lot of male men hate their jobs there too even though it has not been privatized simply due to the fact that they are treated like they don't have any rights and they are constantly watched and even trying to have a minute or two to run to the bathroom is a big deal... it's a shame it seems like workers don't have rights anymore as if things are going backwards
@@gardensofthegods I heard American posties are not allowed to strike, is that true?

i wish i could be happy like you sir, when i done my tour in iraq i see alot of blood and suffering i just cant get it oit my head. i feel like i hate the whole world

Im intrigued to know how he wound up with such an up to date fibreoptic leg, usually these are only available to the military as they are incredibly expensive !
He said they sponsored him because he's a mountain climber.
