I initially thought about ordering this kit. Glad to see how the instructions are laid out. Looking forward to seeing your running review and how it stacks up to other kits on the market.
Wow, thank You for this highlights real of the things to keep in mind while building this Comp Fox kit. I know for me it’s always overwhelming to think about doing a kit build V.S. Buying an RTR and dialing it in over time… So this definitely helps👍
Hi there! No shock leaks yet - fingers crossed! The truck really performs great. Very happy with it. BUT - some of the RTRs out there like the Vanquish Stance and the Redcat Fusion are 95% of the performance at a fraction of the cost...
I am looking forward to your test drive review. I wanted this kit for a 4 wheel steering build but initial impressions have me doubting this choice (any 4ws build suggestions?) Really appreciate how you point out the bad points along with the good in your reviews.
Hi there! Yes - I am also curious how it drives. Still working on getting all of the components installed. Good news, you can get basically any truck to be 4WS. You can get a spare front axle and put them on the rear. Easy! Personally, I typically do not mess with 4WS as it (1) doesn't truly help a lot, (2) adds weight in the exact wrong location, and (3) needlessly overcomplicates the truck. BUT - if you have a specific reason/need for it - Go For It and Good Luck!
You have 4 arms? No wonder that thing went together so quickly, lol! AE instructions have been lacking for years. At one time, they were a benchmark but that time has passed. Never seen as many errors as this though? Maybe send them a link to your video? Btw, you touched on it but perfect example of why you READ THE MANUAL FIRST! I always stress this to people but mostly it gets ignored (I don't need no stinkin' directions, lol). And the Element/AE shocks have never included bladders. Even with the caps that have no bleed holes. Normally, just screw the cap down half way, compress the shaft fully into the shock body and let excess oil bleed out 👍 Great video, this will save a lot of people headaches from building this kit! 👍
Hi there! I have no relationship with Element RC - so never had a conversation with them on what I saw. Unfortunately, that means no idea if they have tweaked anything about it. I did have one viewer who said the more recent instruction manuals had some tweaks - which is awesome!
@@RoadsideRC thanks for the reply. it looks like a great setup. Watching your video made me wonder if this is the right one as my first kit. I don’t have a bunch of spare parts laying around if parts are missing.
On my last three test runs at the crawler course, my passenger side C-Hub twested around every time. Bad design of locking splines or plastiic too soft.
There were a few issues w the DC10 as well and its manual but I dont remember it being as "what?" as this. Reminds me of trying to build the trx4 LCG carbonfiber kits lol :D
Well, a quality kit is the perfect start for people new to the hobby. But if companies keep putting out post 2020 quality...then yea I agree. If society could get back to pre 2020 integrity that would be huge and oh so helpful. Kits today are now suffering what RTR has always been....sub-quality and the lazy route. I have always directed new people towards kits and to NEVER get an RTR. But now post 2020....more companies are going the lazy route and compromising quality.
As someone who’s been in the hobby since 1987, and built a ton of Associated kits this has to be one of the worst kits I’ve built. Guessing nobody actually built one using the manual before it was approved for final production.
That rear axle is absolutely corny! Never seen anything as hodgepodge’d as that from the factory. Also I just got a vanquish vrd straight axle kit and they too seem to have gotten the length of the links wrong. They have no pictures or diagrams showing the links completely assembled or any indication of how they’re coming up with these measurements.
@@RoadsideRC Troy, I'm dumb. I wasn't watching the video at first and had my back turned as I was wrenching on my Mojave 6s. This time around, I was watching to answer your question. You have a shop fan up on the cabinet. Anyway, randomly, at times, the mic picked up spikes of fan noise beyond the steady sound of the fan. Sorry for the false alarm..

The final build is in process - hope to test it soon. Stay tuned!

Glad this could help.
Thanks for the kind words.
Had been considering this kit but will probably wait until they do a second run or something
That might make sense.
Thanks for all the tips ,when thinking of purchasing one myself, hopefully it does as well as the ecto, thanks troy have a good day
I'll get it fully built and tested soon! Fingers crossed.
Good information 👍
Have you had any shock leaks without that last part installed in the shock body?
And what are your thoughts on the truck 2 months later. TY

Yes - I don't normally show my abnormal 4-arms. Snuck into the video this time. :)
I had the same experience when building this kit
Did element fix all the stuff that was wrong/missing when you built it? I’d love to see a video on hoe you fixed the shocks and stuff.

@MrBowser2012 I 100% would NOT suggest this as a first kit...but then, there aren't many full "kits" anymore either...
On my last three test runs at the crawler course, my passenger side C-Hub twested around every time. Bad design of locking splines or plastiic too soft.

Thx for your help,
The manual is oke for 85% 😂😂
Your movie is help me to build it for 100% 😂

Congrats element. You turned a 3hr job to a 6hr job

Something about how my belly kept getting dirty. :)
@@RoadsideRC now that’s funny!
Yikes was considering one of these but now I don’t think so 😢
Hopefully it performs really well!

the manual is indeed not clear enough and mistakes, pics are to dark, never the less, its an amazing kit , manual can have an update

interesting tips building this looks quite a task

Instructions must be harder than we think!
Boy in my mind that is a total turn off in getting that kit as there is no reason for a company to have that many screw ups totally unprofessional..
It is a little disappointing, for sure.
I go to order it. We wait the test 😊. The instruction is really bad.
I am still putting the rest of the truck together - testing will begin soon!
Thanks for the video, however, the background noise, whatever it was is very distracting for me. Otherwise great informational video! As always!!.
Thanks for the feedback. Is there a specific time that was distracting? I'm curious.
