I use bronze on my own boat. There is nothing wrong with the OEM 93 series valves and I find them to be excellent if not hard to get. One big benefit is that they won't ever corrode.
Can you test the non-OEM series on a brand new valve? I understand the OEM series are what's sold to boat manufacturers. This wouldn't be very useful information for somebody who wants to retrofit an old boat.
