  • I have never been a big fan of Vibratos, but this one sparkles in a a nice way... I could totally see me using this effect effectively!
    Combine that with a great build quality and the 50 dollar / euro price tag and it is a clear recommendation.

    Sounds beautiful. Reminds me of the sound of when an old vhs tape warbles.

    This is my first time viewing one of your videos, and I have got to say, this is how you do a pedal review. Starts with the sound of the pedal. Not some loud crazy intro, or boring talking about the pedal or worse, talking about random bullshit. Timestamps in the intro! Wow. Diverse array of playing, and not just a bunch of arppegio chords. We get the overview, and opinions on the product itself. Playing is very musical and not endless noodling. Not to mention, the filming is great. It's lit perfectly, we see the subject and the host, and can hear them perfectly as well. This wasn't recorded with the camera microphone. I can't say enough. Subscribed, and I bought this pedal upon watching this review. Two thumbs up!

    I'd be interested to see the Tailspin, Afterglow, Echobrain, Prophet and Skysurfer together. I can see those being the top row of my pedalboard.

    I've never been a big vibrato guy myself. I was looking forward to this one coming out as way to introduce myself to the fun and creativity a vibrato pedal can offer. That said, after seeing how big these pedals are in the the unboxing video, I'm not so sure I'll be getting any of the "new" TCE offerings ( also wanted the Skysurfer & Rush). They're just too damn big for the pedal board I had planned to use them on (Pedaltrain Jr. / secondary fun board). I'm not planning on buying a bunch of these, so the their entire design is a complete hindrance.Thanks for the reviews!!

    For a more lush sound, I would use the tailspin in parallel with the afterglow, each going to it's own amplifier and cabinet and a remote switch to bypass or activate both with a single step. Maybe the tailspin and a tremolo in parallel too. Tc electronic used to produce a vintage tremolo (volume modulation only) sometime ago. For "helicopter" effects, not "siren" or "turbine" thing.
    Vibrato seems to be more for fingerpicking or chords progression when it would be uncomfortable to do them with the lever, shaking the guitar or modulating the left hand fingers like playing doing parkinson mimic (on all strings of a chord).
    A cousin of mine would also like a pedal capable of cancelling pickup vibrato if there was one. I never knew what to recommend for him, as I don't mind when natural vibrato emerges. (as sound diffraction also may happen after the sound has already been produced by the speakers and then some additional vibrato may occur if reflected waves randomly out of phase meet again). (...) (if somebody discovered a way to polarize air vibrations, it would be easier, but it would require gravitational and anti-gravitational energy, levitation stuff)
    anyway, sorry for this daydreaming again.
    nice demo
    Cheers!!!
    Luke

    The Behringer Ultra Vibrato being among the best on the market while being the cheapest is a well-kept secret.
    In fact, this TC upgrade doesn't actually look or sound like one. Why did they lose the mode switch and the rise control? What a shame.

      The TC Shaker vibrato has already a latch mode and a rise control... TC would not put its own toneprints pedal in competition with this one 50% cheaper!

      To be honest, the ridiculously large housing gave me the same impression about all the pedals in the series.

      i didnt care for the shaker. It sounded too digital for me. I would love to try this pedal if it had all the features of the shaker though, since it has an analog circuit

    The 1st string problem? I know it's a prototype, but maybe changing the nut and raising the action a bit may help, maybe?

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  7 лет назад

      it's fine now... they just didn't file the frets down enough. Usually they all get checked at Thomann and stuf like that either gets fixed or the guitar doesn't go out, but this prototype didn't go through quality control.

    Vibrato is preferable in lo-fi/indie genres. It can be preferred to chorus when someone is using a lot of reverb (e.g. mac demarco, bubble tea and cigarettes, beabadoobee)

    WHAT do you think of vibrators then?

  • @MrJLobster
    @MrJLobster 7 лет назад +2

    This is my 2 Cents: TC didn´t get it at all. The Idea on this type of effect was to alow the Player to set a vibrato at the END of a tone or a Chord like you would do with your fingers!! Therefore the original Boss VB-2 had the UNLATCHING MODE with risetime!!! As Long as you press the Switch there is -Vibrato. Sounds VERY natural once you get it.
    The Tailspin pedal has an electronical LATCHING Switch at the up Position. Therefore it is n´t usable AT ALL in the most desired way as you read at the beginning.
    And...for the modders: it is not easy to mod it the right way because of the electronical Latching Switch circuit.
