This was a great added colab that often occurs at Jazz Fest. Local artists will join the main acts on stage and you end up with unforgettable moments like this.
You seem to be implying that trombones are a diatonic instrument (like harmonicas) that can only play in one key. This isn’t the case, they can play all 11 notes (and having a slide, can play in between) and can play in any key. It’s called a Bb trombone because its notes are a tone below concert pitch. The down tuning on guitar is likely to accommodate Marcus’ singing
So, the way he's playing it appears to me to be tuning down all strings from standard tuning (E, A, D, G, B, E starting from the BIG 6th string) to D. So then rather than the before mentioned it would be D, G, C, F, A, D). Then the chords become G minor (starting chord which LOOKS exactly like an A minor (due to the strings being tuned down), B flat WHICH looks just like a C Major! Then to C WHICH is played just like a D Major / Sus 4 from the fifth fret of the 5th string. That covers the opening verse. Then the second line of the verse is G minor (looks like A!), drop to D minor (played like an E minor) although I can feel how an E Major would work! You don't have to tune down however if you watch his fingers and finger positioning, it can get confusing. Even if you don't tune down, the chord names remain the same.
Would you react to BABYMETAL? I would first suggest recent live performances of their songs Road of Resistance, Monochrome, and Megitsune, all from their PIA Arena 2023 concerts.
